Nasser Hussain believes the heated exchange that followed Jos Buttlers dismissal in the second ODI will fire England up for Wednesdays series decider. Davante Adams Jersey . Bangladesh won by 34 runs in Dhaka to level the series at 1-1 with the confrontation between the stand-in England skipper and the Bangladesh fielders giving the latter stages of the game an extra edge.Having been given out lbw on review, Buttler was making his way off the field before he turned back, apparently incensed by a comment from a Bangladesh player during their exuberant celebrations. The umpires stepped in and a visibly furious Buttler trudged off, although the incident appeared not to have been forgotten as Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow were involved in another spat with some of the home players as the teams shook hands at the end of the match.I saw it as a captain who is trying to win the game for his team, who has been quite brilliant out here and, in the heat of battle, these things happen, Hussain told Sky Sports. Its all well and good sitting up in an air-conditioned commentary box or in a studio or sat at home to be very calm about these things. But in 90 per cent humidity, 38 degree heat, when youve kept all day, youre batting, youre trying to win a game that you are losing and then someone gives you a send-off…The former England captain believes the incident shows the character of the current side and their determination to succeed. Nick Knight and Nasser Hussain discuss the second ODI between and its implications on the final match on Wednesday He probably pushed the limit and went over the top but Id rather have a captain like that, who cared and gave it absolutely everything, Hussain added.Yes, he probably pushed the limits, as Ben Stokes did at the end there, but weve got a side out here who are absolutely caring. This is not a side thinking oh shall we just pop over to Bangladesh and get it done and dusted. Theyre thinking lets go to Bangladesh and try to win. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. Youve also got the atmosphere and the hostile nature of the crowd - sometimes things do boil over. Ive never seen that from Jos, hes so calm, hes so calculated and its nice to see that hes got a different side although sometimes he may have to rein it in.Hussain expects that there will now be repercussions though with match referee Javagal Srinath likely to examine the situation. Buttler is ushered away by the umpires following the confrontation I dont think [the match referee] has to get involved but I think he will get involved because its the captain and in the laws of the game, the captain is in charge of the spirit of the game, he said. Its one thing being given a send-off as most batsmen in the world have been given at some stage, its another thing walking back into a huddle, walking back towards a player. So match referee Srinath will have a look at the situation and the situation at the end with Ben Stokes. Javagal Srinath will be a busy man this evening. What punishments, if any, will be handed out remains to be seen but England can ill-afford to lose Buttler or Stokes, according to Hussain. However, he also argues that the altercation could prove a key motivating factor for the tourists going into the third ODI.The last thing England need is either Stokes or Buttler in any kind of trouble, Hussain added. Djokovic dominated from the start and closed out the victory by winning a remarkable exchange to beat Nadal 6-3, 6-3 Sunday in the final of the Sony Open. Nadal fell to 0-4 in finals at Key Biscayne, one of just three ATP Masters 1000 events he has yet to win. As for Djokovic, only six-time champion Andre Agassi has won the mens event more. Djokovic erased the only break point he faced, committed just 15 unforced errors and won a scrambling, 30-shot rally on the final point. He completed a March sweep after beating Roger Federer in the final at Indian Wells two weeks ago. Even so, Nadal will remain ranked No. 1 and Djokovic No. 2. Either Nadal or Djokovic is the reigning champion in all nine Masters 1000 tournaments. Nadal and Djokovic have played 40 matches, the most of any mens pairing in the Open era, and few have been so lopsided. Nadal stood six feet behind the baseline to return and often remained on the defensive from there, with his shots lacking their normal depth. Ty Montgomery Jersey. . Djokovic was quick to step into the court and even won a point playing serve and volley. Djokovic also had the superior serve, and his agility allowed him to chase down shots Nadal usually counts as winners. Nadals lone break-point chance came in the opening game, and he failed to convert. Djokovic broke in the sixth game, hitting three consecutive winners before Nadal put a backhand in the net. Djokovic broke again in the opening game of the second set by winning a 22-shot exchange, and he held serve the rest of the way. With Nadals loss, Spanish men fell to 0-7 in Key Biscayne finals. Djokovic won all eight sets he played in the tournament, and twice advanced because of walkovers. The clay-court season looms, and the result might be different when the rivalry resumes on Nadals favourite surface. He still leads the rivalry, 22-18. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
HONG KONG -- John Moonlight scored a pair of tries as Canada defeated Portugal 35-7 Friday in its opening match at the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament. Paul Thompson Jersey. The Canadian men improved their career record against Portugal to 15-9-0. Canada, which is currently ninth in the series standings, is coming off three impressive performances in the U.S., New Zealand and Japan, where it qualified for the quarter-finals of the elite Cup competition each time. Nanyak Dala, Conor Trainor and Sean White also scored tries Friday for Canada, which will face No. 8 Argentina and No. 4 England on Saturday. Captain Nathan Hirayama, who missed the final day of action in Tokyo last time out due to injury, converted all five Canadian tries. Pedro Bettencourt had the lone try for No. 14 Portugal. Moonlight opened the scoring with a try just 39 seconds into the match. Hirayama then converted tries from Dala and Trainor to put Canada up 21-0 by the 7:20 mark of the first half. Bettencourt got Portugal on the board late, cutting Canadas lead to 21-7 at the break. Moonlight struck quickly to open the second half with a try 50 seconds in. That was all the scoring until Whites try in extra time. In other games, Fiji opened its title defence by blowing away Wales 42-7. In a pool matchup of last years finalists, Fiji ran in six tries to one to put a smile on the face of coach Ben Ryan. "Lets not get carried away. We havent qualified for anything as yet," Ryan said. "We have a far way to go before we can think of defending our title." Fiji, the most successful side at the mecca of sevens rugby, is bidding for a third successive title to go along with hat tricks in 1990-92 and 1997-99. England was the last team to win three in a row, 10 years ago. The Pacific Islanders, coming off victory in Tokyo last weekend, led the charge of all the big guns on the opening night. World series leader South Africa defeated France 31-7, and New Zealand brushed aside Scotland 33-0. Of the top four seeds, England had the hardest time having to ward off a feisty challenge from Argentina, 19-12. In qualifying for core team status in next seasons series, Japan was the most impressive in romps over Uruguay and Trinidad and Tobago, thanks to wingers Yoshikazu Fujita and Kenki Fukuoka, who were released by 15s coach Eddie Jones. Host Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Italy and Russia also emerged unbeaten in the 12-team second-tier competition. The winner of that tournament will join the core teams in the first-tier series next year. Also Friday, the Canadian women defeated France 24-0 to win their second consecutive Hong Kong Invitational Sevens title. VANCOUVER - The Calgary Stampeders are entering their first-round playoff bye on the right terms. Custom Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys .The B.C. Lions, however, are not.Eric Rogers caught two touchdown passes as the Stampeders downed the B.C. Lions 33-16 on Friday night in the CFL regular-season finale for both teams. The Stampeders, who had already clinched first place in the West Division, finished the regular season with a 15-3 record and tied the leagues 54-year-old road victory total with eight, set and matched by Winnipeg in 1960 and 1961. Calgary bettered its club road-win record of seven set 65 years ago in 1949 and matched in 1995.But, more importantly, the Stampeders gained considerable confidence as they seek to avoid a repeat of a loss in the Western final. Calgary will host this years West final against either the Edmonton Eskimos or the yet-to-be-decided club that places third in the West.Last year, coming out of this (final regular-season) game (also against B.C.), we had lost the game and we had lost a lot of important guys to our team — this year its a completely different story, said Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell. The Lions, who finished the season 9-9, missed a chance to clinch third in the West and could now face a cross-over playoff game against an Eastern team, depending on how Saskatchewan fares against Edmonton on Saturday.Thats not the way we wanted to the end the season at home in front of our home fans, said B.C. defensive back Ryan Phillips. We didnt play at a high level.Although both the Lions and Stamps had secured playoff berths and rested key players, the game featured dazzling touchdowns as both clubs scored on long passes. Emannuel Arceneaux scored B.C.s lone touchdown on a 46-yard reception in the second quarter. But Rogers TD catches of 21 and 44 yards, which both came in the second quarter, proved to be the most painful.I was lined up out wide and I read the seam, the line gave the quarterback some time to throw, the quarterback put it on the money and I go up there and high-point it - thats both touchdowns, basically, said Rogers.B.C. was missing key regulars on defence to rest and injury, including middle linebacker Adam Bighill (hand), but Phillips said Rogers TDs and other long gains through the air were still inexcusable. For me, its alarming due to the fact that weve been pretty good at (preventing long gains through the air) through the course of the year, he said.In a rare start, Calgary quarterback Drew Tate completed 14 of 20 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown with one interception.(Tate) did a great job of starting it off, said Mitchell, who completed 13 of 18 for one touchdown.. He came out there and we got to see what they were doing. They were playing a lot of (man-to-man coverage). … It was a good job by the passing game and it shows a different dynamic of what we can do as an offence. The Stampeders did not miss CFL rushing leader Jon Cornish, who missed the game due to a concussion and appears questionable for the playoffs.B.C. quarterback Kevin Glenn completed 26 of 36 of for 312 yards and one touchdown, but was hurt by two interceptions. Contrary to plans, he played the whole game after backup John Beck was left dizzy and suffered a headache on a two-yard surge in the third quarter. But Beck said afterwards he will be ready for the playoffs.Tate led the Stampeders to a 13-yard Rene Paredes field goal on their first series. But the Lions produced an identical opening eight-play march of their own, which went 66 yards and culminated with McCallums 18-yard field goal. But Tates 21-yard touchdown pass to Rogers staked Calgary to an advantage that they never relinquished. After Dante Marsh intercepted a Tate pass, Mitchell entered the game on Calgarys next series and took the Stamps to the B.C. one before third-string QB Bryant Moniz scored on a plunge that gave Calgary an insurmountable 17-6 lead and Rogers second TD, on a pass from Mitchell, that extended Calgarys lead to 24-13 at half-time.Notes: A moment of silence was held before the game for late Stampeders player and owner John Forzani, who died of a heart attack last week at the age of 67. … Calgary receiver Marquay McDaniel returned after missing six games with a broken wrist. … Calgarys Shawn Lemon tied a CFL single-season record of eight forced fumbles as he sacked Glenn in the second quarter. … Military veterans received a standing ovation during a rousing half-time salute.Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys . RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Nearly 100 rampaging Chilean fans busted through a security checkpoint at the Maracana stadium Wednesday, sprinting through a large media room and breaking down walls trying to find a way into the sold-out Spain vs. Chile World Cup match. The red-shirted supporters, mostly young men, surged through the media centre underneath the stands, pushing and shoving their way past journalists and TV crews toward a corridor they apparently thought would lead to the grandstands. To get to the corridor, the fans broke down a temporary wall in one corner of the room, sending metal lockers crashing to the ground, according to Associated Press journalists. They then rushed back down the corridor in the other direction, sending parts of the same wall crashing down onto media work tables. Security staff at Maracana -- where the World Cup final will be held July 13 -- were slow to react to the mass break-in less than an hour before kickoff. They eventually contained the fans in a section of the corridor around 15 minutes after they first broke in. The Rio de Janeiro state security secretariat, which oversees security forces, said in a statement that 85 fans were detained. Some were marched away in a line by security officials, their arms resting on the shoulders of the people in front of them. Outside, riot police armed with stun guns forced dozens of the detained fans to walk single-file toward a holding area. There, the Chile supporters chanted and loudly complained about scalpers charging $1,000 a ticket for the game. "I travelled thousands of kilometres to get here!" one fan yelled, while others chanted "FIFA is a mafia! FIFA is a mafia!" Asked howw many guards should have been watching the entry where the Chileans busted through, security guard Diego Goncalves said "about 20. Carson Tinker Jersey. " "I was the lone guy standing out there," near the entry to press centre, Goncalves said. "All of a sudden they knocked down the fence and just pushed their way through." In the joint statement, FIFA and Brazilian World Cup organizers said they "condemn these acts of violence." "Ahead of the Spain versus Chile match at the Maracana a group of individuals without tickets violently forced entry into the stadium, breaking fences and overrunning security," FIFA said in a statement. "They were contained by the security and did not make it to the seats." The fans came extremely close to racing down a corridor that leads onto the field. But they apparently didnt know how close they were and came back toward the media room. There, security guards eventually gained control of the situation, waving their hands frantically and ordering the Chile supporters to sit down in a large group before leading them away. Many fans covered their face with scarves containing Chiles logo as they were photographed and filmed by journalists. After the fans broke in, security was beefed up, with long lines of heavily armed military police standing watch as thousands of fans lined up to get inside the stadium. Rio de Janeiro states security secretariat, which oversees police, said that because of the "aggressive and orchestrated" behaviour of the Chilean fans, FIFA asked police for help in controlling the situation and detaining the fans. An investigation into the case is underway. Cheap NFL JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
PRETORIA, South Africa -- A South African police officer swung a cricket bat at Oscar Pistorius bullet-marked bathroom door during his murder trial on Wednesday, using two key pieces of evidence to re-enact the night he killed his girlfriend. Corey Linsley Jersey . Police Col. J.G. Vermeulen faced tough questioning from Pistorius defence lawyer, who tried to discredit the police investigation of the shooting and alleged that Vermeulen, a forensic expert, made glaring missteps in his analysis. Pistorius lawyers secured bail for him last year after contending that police contaminated or tampered with evidence from the home where he fatally shot Reeva Steenkamp, firing through the bathroom door as she cowered inside during the pre-dawn hours of Valentines Day 2013. Pistorius says the killing was a mistake; the prosecution alleges the 27-year-old double-amputee intentionally shot Steenkamp after an argument. The actual door that Pistorius shot through a year ago was erected in the Pretoria courtroom Wednesday, and the bat he used that night was used in the demonstrations. There was even a toilet cubicle behind the door, recreated to the exact specifications of the small area of Pistorius bathroom where the 29-year-old model was fatally shot, Vermeulen said. Below the doors handle, four bullet holes were clearly visible. Steenkamp was hit three times in the hip, arm and head. One shot missed, the court has heard. Pistorius says he used the bat to break down the door after realizing he shot Steenkamp, mistaking her for an intruder. Kneeling, Vermeulen swung the bat to show how he believed Pistorius struck the door from a low angle, indicating he was on his stumps at the time. Defence lawyer Barry Roux insisted Pistorius was wearing his prosthetic legs, saying the bat marks on the door were low because he swung with a bent back. The back-and-forth over whether Pistorius, the first amputee to run at the Olympics, was on his prosthetic limbs or not is important because it could match parts of his story that he accidentally shot Steenkamp, or expose inconsistencies in it. Last year, prosecutors maintained Pistorius was on his prostheses when he fired through the door, arguing the runner planned the killing while putting on his artificial limbs. But in a reversal, prosecutor Gerrie Nel said in court Wednesday that he did not dispute the defences contention that the runner was on his stumps when he opened fire. The athlete has said he fearfully approached the bathroom on his stumps and shot Steenkamp by mistake, thinking she was an intruder hiding behind the door. According to his account, he then put on his prostheses and tried to kick down the locked door, striking it with a cricket bat in a panicked attempt to reach his girlfriend. Roux turned up the pressure on Vermeulen, saying the police investigator failed to properly look at another mark on the door the defence says was made by Pistorius prosthetic leg as he tried to kick it down, leaving a piece of sock fabric lodged in the wood. The defence lawyer also indicated that police investigators might have left a shoe print on the door, the door itself might have been kept in a policemans office and not in proper evidence storage, and missing fragments from the door werent examined. Vermeulen said the door was kept in a "body bag." In an evidence photo, a faint footmark on one of the door panels could be seen. "It looks like a police shoe print," Vermeulen said. "How did that come about?" Roux asked. Vermeulen said he did not know. Earlier, Vermeulen also said a metal panel on the wall of the main bathroom in Pistorius home had been damaged by being hit with a "hard" object. The panel was new evidence. A photo of the damaged plate was shown. Pistorius faces a possible life sentence if convicted of murder for killing Steenkamp. The judge, who watched the demonstrations Wednesday, will ultimately decide on the verdict. There is no trial by jury in South Africa. Pistorius was born without fibula bones because of a congenital defect, and his legs were amputated when he was 11 months old. He ran on carbon-fiber blades and is a multiple Paralympic medallist . He also competed at the London Olympics but didnt win a medal. Jahri Evans Jersey . Dwyane Wade followed a few days later. Marwin Evans Jersey . -- Billy Donovans bench came up big, bailing out top-seeded Florida in a tight game against what was supposed to be an overmatched opponent.PITTSBURGH -- The reeling Chicago Blackhawks took another hard hit. The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be coming together at just the right time. Sidney Crosby scored two goals in the final five minutes, helping the Penguins to a 4-1 victory over the injury-riddled Blackhawks on Sunday night. "I thought this was one of our most physical games of the year," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. "We saw it from the beginning of the game until the end." The biggest hit came in the second period. Already playing without Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks lost captain Jonathan Toews to an upper-body injury when he was drilled by Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik. Toews was holding his left arm on the bench before heading down the runway for good in the second. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville didnt believe the injury to Toews was serious, characterizing it as day to day. "Well get a better assessment tomorrow," Quenneville said. James Neal and Lee Stempniak also scored for the Penguins, who won their second straight and snapped a three-game home losing streak. Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves in his 36th victory of the season. Orpiks hit on Toews occurred with 6:30 remaining in the middle period. The two were going for a loose puck. "It was a big hit," Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp said. "You could tell he was trying to hit him hard. He knew who he was hitting. Its tough when you see your captain get hit like that." Quenneville said he needed to see a replay of Orpiks hit. Bylsma said he only saw the hit live, and believed it was clean. Orpik agreed. "Theres no penalty, so I dont know," Orpik said. "I think that hit happens 10 times a game." Its been a rough stretch for injuries for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who will be without star forward Kane for the rest of the regular season because of a lower-body injury. Bryan Bickell is out with an upper-body injury but is expected to return soon. Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa played with Orpik with the Penguins during their run to the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals. "(Orpik) is a heavy hitter," Hossa said. "Thats his game. Its never easy to play against him. Sometimes hes on the borderline, but I know him as a fair guy and thats how I remember him." The injury to Toews galvanized the Blackhawks, who dominated play in the third period. But Fleury held up just fine. Crosby capped a 2-on-1 rush for Pittsburgh at 15:09 of the third, sending a wrist sshot over the shoulder of Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford. Jamaal Williams Jersey. He added an empty-netter with 1:16 left for his 36th goal and league-leading 99th point of the season. "Obviously, they were coming and they put a lot of pressure on us," Crosby said. "They started to take a few more risks and we were able to capitalize." Sheldon Brookbank scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost three straight in regulation for the first time since February 2012. The Penguins and Blackhawks started the month at a snowy Soldier Field, part of the NHL Stadium Series. Chicago cruised to a 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh on March 1 in the beginning of a rough month for each team. "We remember that snowy night in Chicago," Bylsma said. "They took it to us pretty good. We wanted to respond in this game and I think we did." The Blackhawks and Penguins began the day with identical near-.500 March records and one win in each of their last four games. Injuries to top forwards have played a role; Chicago played its sixth in a row without Kane, while former NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin missed his fourth straight for Pittsburgh. Both are expected to return for the post-season. Chicago added another big name to the list after the loss of Toews. "Weve played 11 games in 19 days, its a busy stretch of the year," Quenneville said. "There have been some stretches in the last three games that have showed that maybe this team needs a break." Chicago carried the play early, Andrew Shaw hitting a post less than two minutes into the game. But Pittsburgh scored twice in 21 seconds, taking an early 2-0 lead. Neal snapped a wrist shot past Crawford on a 2-on-1 and Stempniak got behind Johnny Oduya after a lead pass from Matt Niskanen and beat Crawford between the pads. Neal has 10 points in his last nine games against Chicago. Pittsburgh had a chance to add to its lead in the second period, but came up short on two power-play opportunities. Brookbank then delivered for the Blackhawks, cutting the deficit in half when he blasted a slap shot from the point behind Fleury. NOTES: Chicago last visited Pittsburgh in December 2011. ... HOUSTON -- Even Jason Castros game-winning hit couldnt overshadow Jose Altuves all-around performance for the Astros on Friday night. PJ Tucker Jersey . Altuve had four hits, an RBI and two steals, including one of home, in Houstons 4-3 win in 11 innings over Detroit that snapped the Tigers seven-game winning streak. Castro launched a pitch from Blaine Hardy (0-1) into the seats in right field with one out in the 11th to give Houston the victory. The Tigers tied it when Eugenio Suarez scored on an error in the eighth inning. Jake Buchanan (1-1) pitched a perfect 11th for his first major league win. Altuve had his MLB-leading 33rd multi-hit game of the season. He leads baseball with 111 hits and the AL with 32 stolen bases. "Im somewhat speechless," Houston manager Bo Porter said when asked about Altuves night. "Its impressive to have the kind of impact hes having on the baseball game each and every time he takes the field." Altuve scored a run in the first and tied it up with a RBI double in the fifth. He stole home later that inning to give Houston a 3-2 lead. "He can do it all," Castro said. "Stole home, laid down an infield single. Hes fun to watch and hes one of those guys in your lineup (where) anytime hes at the plate you know hes got a great chance of getting on and getting in scoring position on his own. Its huge to have at the top of the lineup." Altuve left before reporters were allowed in the clubhouse after the game and wasnt available for comment. First baseman Jon Singleton let a foul ball hit by Suarez drop for an error with no outs in the eighth inning. Suarez then drew a walk and reached second on a groundout by Torii Hunter for the second out. Jonathan Villars error on a ball hit by Miguel Cabrera allowed him to reach and Suarez to score to tie it at 3-3. Nick Castellanos had a solo homer to give the Tigers the lead in the fourth inning and Ian Kinsler had three hits for his sixth straight multi-hit game, a career-high. Hes second to Altuve with 32 multi-hit games this season. It was the first trip to Houston as a manager for Detroits Brad Ausmus, whose 10 seasons catching for the Astros included the franchises only World Series appearance in 2005. J.D. Martinez, who spent three seasons with the Astros before they released him in March, had two hits to snap his 14-game hitting streak a day after going 0 for 4. L.J. Hoes singled to start Houstons fifth and took second on a throwing error by Justin Verlander on a pickoff attempt. Hoes reached third on a sacrifice bunt by Villar. Then Altuve went to work. His 24th double of the season scored Hoes to tie it 2-2. George Springer singled and Altuve moved to third before Verlander tried to pickoff Springer at first with two outs. Altuve broke on the throw and stole home, sliding under the attempted tag by Alex Avila to put the Astros on top 3-2. Martinez singled to start the second inning and advanced to second on a passed ball. He scored on a single by Avila with two outs to tie it at 1-1. But Avila was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double to end the inning. Altuve led off the game with a single and stole second base. He advanced to third on a wild pitch with one out and scored on the same play on a throwing error by Avila to put Houston up 1-0. Astros starter Brad Peacock allowed seven hits and two runs -- one earned -- in 6 2-3 innings after missing his last start while recovering from food poisoning. Verlander allowed six hits with three runs and eight strikeouts in six innings to remain winless since May 30. He lamented allowing Altuve to steal two bases while he was on the mound. "Being able to take that base in the (first) led to a run," he said. "Being able to take the extra base on the pickoff to first was another run. Hes one of those guys you have to keep off the base paths, and that is not easily done." NOTES: Houston left-hander Dallas Keuchel has been scratched from Saturdays start because of inflammation in his throwing wrist. Brett Oberholtzer will start in his place against Max Scherzer. ... The Astros signed fourth-round draft pick RHP Daniel Mengden on Friday. ... Houston centre fielder Dexter Fowler was scratched before the game because of tightness in his back. Vice-president of player safety Brendan Shanahan explained that decision in a three-minute video posted on the leagues website designed to lay out the case for why Wilson did not get further discipline beyond a five-minute charging penalty and game misconduct. Shanahan said Wilson was not punished for boarding because Schenn began to turn his back to try to avoid contact after looking back at the Washington winger. It was the NHL department of player safetys determination that Schenn turning "actually contributes to making this hit worse." In looking at the charging aspect of the hit, Shanahan went into a lengthy explanation of how teams forecheck. Even though Wilson skated directly from the bench to hit Schenn, Shanahan said most of that distance was travelled in "typical forechecking fashion." As for the hit itself, Shanahan said it was shoulder to shoulder, crediting Wilson for staying low throughout the course of delivering it. Schenn left the game but the team said he did not have a concussion. He was in Philadelphias lineup Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Capitals contended from Tuesday night on that Wilsons hit was not dirty. "We agree with the leagues position that it was a clean hit," Capitals general manager George McPhee said in a statement released through a team spokesman. "There should not have been a penalty on the play. It was a punishing hit, not predatory or otherwise illegal. Under our current rules, punishing but clean hits are permitted. We are happy that Tom Wilson was vindicated and Brayden Schenn is not injured." Wilson, a Toronto native, has no history of supplemental discipline during his first NHL season. He was suspended five games last season for a hit from behind while playing for the OHLs Plymouth Whalers. Pablo Zabaleta Jersey . At this rate, the Flyers captain is set to be remembered more for a fantastic finish. Enzo Perez Jersey . The Miami Heat star tops the leagues global list of top-selling jerseys for the 2012-13 season, edging Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and James Heat teammate Dwyane Wade for the No.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. Hi Kerry, I am sure you will get a ton of emails on this one. Last night, the Kings went up 2-1 on the Sharks around eight minutes remaining. My question with this goal - Is Justin Williams allowed to hit the goalie with his stick? Cant this be considered goalie interference? I am a Ducks fan waiting to see my next opponent. I really think the Sharks were cheated here. The NHL says this type of play is non-reviewable. This excuse just seems like an easy way out from a judgment call. Thanks,Jake Kevari Jake: The L.A. Kings greasy second goal should have been disallowed by referee Chris Lee as per rule 69.6 when Justin Williams used his stick to push Alex Stalock, set in a statuesque pose, that resulted in both the puck and the toe of Stalocks left skate to cross the goal line into the net. It appeared that the referee was purely focused on the puck that became partially visible under the left skate of Alex Stalock after the goalie made the initial save.  If referee Lee taken had taken into account the action of Justin Williams pushing Stalock from the front of the goal crease with his hockey stick or subsequently had the opportunity to utilize video review I would hope that a different decision on the play would have been rendered. Many fans who follow me on twitter @kfraserthecall (Kings Fans perhaps?) could not comprehend that the action of Justin Williams pushing Alex Stalock with his stick became a goalie interference violation. Language contained in Rule 69 defines contact, whether incidental or otherwise, to mean any contact that is made between or among a goalkeeper and attacking player(s), whether by means of a stick or any part of the body. Some had even more difficulty accepting that Rule 69.6 applied on this play since Stalock was not knocked completely into the back of the net. Rule 69.6 reads; "In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck by an attacking player after making a stop, the goal will be disallowed." To simplify this play, Alex Stalock made an initial save on his knees wheen Robin Regehr shot the puck from the top left side faceoff circle. Augusto Fernandez Jersey.   Stalocks lower body remained stationary inside the top right side of his goal crease after the puck was gobbled up in his pads. Referee Chris Lee attacked the net straddling the goal line with the whistle in a ready position near his mouth demonstrating some intent to blow the whistle and kill the play; that is until he saw the puck peek out from under Stalocks left skate blade and pad. The refs body posture and head position indicates that he was intently focused on the puck from this moment forward. Freeze frame that visual picture in your mind for a second! If in this moment, Justin Williams dove or crashed into Alex Stalock resulting in the puck entering the net, I would think most everyone would agree that "goalie interference" had been committed and the referee should disallow the goal. The exact same illegal outcome was achieved when Justin Williams used his hockey stick to push Stalock within his goal crease and off his set-stationary position which caused both the puck and the goalies left skate to cross the goal line and enter the net as demonstrated by the overhead net-cam shot. To disallow the goal under Rule 69.6 would be purely academic at this point had the referee been focused more on the action taking place at the front of the net as opposed to the puck. Ideally, the whistle (or intent to blow the whistle) should have been exercised once Justin Williams began pushing Alex Stalock with his stick, if not before! Jake, video review can only be utilized in eight specific situations as listed in Rule 38.4. At the present time interference on the goalkeeper is not one of them. I have continually stated that referees must have the ability to review their initial decision whenever contact with the goalkeeper is in question. This should be initiated by the officials on the ice, the video goal judge or through a coachs challenge. However the review is initiated, I strongly recommend that a referee(s) makes the final call after personally reviewing the play in question on a monitor in the timekeepers box. Look for expanded use of video review in some form next season. We can only hope they get it right. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
WASHINGTON -- After a cautious start, the Washington Redskins made their first big move of free agency, luring former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Jason Hatcher with a four-year, $27. Henry Anderson Jersey .5 million contract, according to a person familiar with the deal. Hatcher agreed to terms Thursday, according to a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been signed. He gives the Redskins a much-needed pass rush from the defensive line to supplement linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan. Hatcher was one of the days several moves aimed at upgrading the defence of a 3-13 team. The Redskins also agreed to a one-year contract with free agent linebacker Darryl Sharpton, according to another person familiar with the deal who also spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not yet been signed. The Redskins also signed former Oakland Raiders cornerback Tracy Porter, according to reports. The team announced that it signed defensive end Clifton Geathers and that receiver Santana Moss had signed his contract, a one-year deal reached on Tuesday. Hatcher, 31, has played eight seasons with the Cowboys, but he didnt become a regular starter until 2011. He had 11 sacks last year, including two against the Redskins in a 31-16 Cowboys win at Dallas in October, and was selected to his first Pro Bowl. Sharpton has started 19 games over four seasons with the Houston Texans, including eight starts last year after Brian Cushing went down with a knee injury. He could be a candidate to replace inside linebacker London Fletcher, who is expected to retire, and could also help improve the Redskins struggling special teams. Geathers has been a backup for four teams over four NFL seasons. He spent last year with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is the nephew of James "Jumpy" Geathers, a 13-year NFL veteran who played for the Redskins from 1990-92. The Redskins were still searching for solutions at safety. Ryan Clark, who played for the Redskins in 2004-05 before leaving for eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was among the free agents who visited Redskins Park on Thursday. The Redskins spent the first two days of free agency making modest signings while losing out in the bidding for bigger names. Theyve added a No. 2 receiver (Andre Roberts), a potential starting guard (Shawn Lauvao) and a special teams contributor (Adam Hayward). Jacoby Brissett Jersey . There will be no Down Under four-peat for Djokovic, as the eighth-seeded Swiss slugger Wawrinka outlasted the second seed 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7 at Melbourne Parks Rod Laver Arena in yet another five-set thriller in their burgeoning rivalry. Jack Mewhort Jersey . The 26-year-old Redditch, England, native played three of his past four seasons under Rennie with the Carolina RailHawks of the North American Soccer League. The Edmonton Oilers will try again to win their first game of the season when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Mondays battle at Rexall Place. The Oilers are 0-4-1, matching the teams worst ever start to a season. The 1992-93 club set a club record with four losses and a tie to begin the season, and Edmonton can surpass that dubious mark if it loses again tonight. Its a disheartening start for an Oilers team that has missed the playoffs in eight straight seasons since making a surprise run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006. If Edmontons season-opening funk gets much worse it could cost head coach Dallas Eakins his job despite the fact Eakins was hired in the summer of 2013 and only is in the second season of a four-year deal. Edmonton is allowing 4.80 goals per game so far this season, but the club did put forth a better defensive effort in its latest setback, losing 2-0 on Friday against the visiting Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers had surrendered five goals or more in each game before the close setback versus the Canucks. Ben Scrivens allowed just one goal on 29 shots in the setback, but his team was shut out for the first time this season. We have to find a way to come out on top, Scrivens said. Despite us playing better, we have to push through and find a way. Mondays contest is the second tilt of a seven-game homestand for the Oilers, who wont play their next road game until visiting Philadelphia on Nov. 4. Edmonton was just 16-22-3 as the visiting team in 2013-14. Edmonton has fared well against the Lightning in recent years, winning its last three home games in this series and taking four of the past six encounters overall. Tampas last win at Rexall Place came in a 3-1 victory on March 7, 2007, when Lightning star Steven Stamkos was still in his first season of junior hockey. Stamkos fueled a Tampa Bay victory in the clubs most recent outing, posting two goals and an assist in Saturdays 4-2 win at Vancouver. The Canucks entered the game with a 3-0 record before the Bolts handed them their first loss of the season. The score was tied at 2-2 in the second period before Ryan Callahan scored the go-ahead goal with 3:12 remaining in the middle stanza. AAlex Killorn also lit the lamp early in the third period to account for the final margin. Reggie Wayne Jersey. This was huge, said Stamkos, who has five goals and seven points this season. In the third period, we kind of just shut it down and thats learning from the mistakes weve made in other games. Ondrej Palat added two helpers for Tampa Bay, which saw Ben Bishop make 30 saves. Although the victory pushed the Lightnings record to 3-1-1 this season, the club received bad news Saturday when top defenseman Victor Hedman left the game in the second period and did not return. Hedman, who is tied with Stamkos for the team lead in points with seven, suffered a hand injury and has returned to Tampa for further evaluation. According to Bolts head coach Jon Cooper, the Swedish blueliner is probably done for the rest of Tampas current road trip, which has four games left, including tonights tilt in Edmonton. Hedman reportedly could miss 4-to-6 weeks of action with the injury. Were going to test our depth, said Cooper. It just puts a little more pressure on the (defensive) core. With Hedman sidelined the Bolts recalled defenseman Luke Witkowski from the clubs AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Tampa also called up forward Jonathan Drouin and the highly-touted rookie could make his NHL debut tonight. Drouin, the third overall pick of the 2013 draft, had missed training camp with a fractured right thumb. Tampa will continue their trek tomorrow night in Calgary before completing the swing with weekend dates in Winnipeg and Minnesota. Bishop expects to start tonight and is 2-0 with a 1.45 goals against average in three career games against the Oilers. Scrivens is 2-1-0 with a 3.08 GAA in four lifetime appearances versus Tampa. NEW YORK -- Brandon McCarthy. Tyler Ervin Jersey . Chris Capuano. Shane Greene. And now, Esmil Rogers. The New York Yankees have gone on an improbable run to get right back in the thick of the playoff race and an unlikely bunch of pitchers have led the way. Rogers, perhaps the unlikeliest of all, worked five sharp innings Friday night and Carlos Beltran hit a grand slam and drove in five runs as the Yankees beat the sloppy Cleveland Indians 10-6 for their sixth win in seven games. "Theyve pitched extremely well," manager Joe Girardi said. "Im not sure any of us knew exactly what to expect, but since the All-Star break weve had a chance to win every game and thats because of them." The Yankees walked seven times in moving seven games above .500 (61-54) for the first time this season. They are 14-7 since the break. Derek Jeter tied Honus Wagner for sixth place on the career list with his 3,430th hit in a five-run first inning against Trevor Bauer (4-7). Beltrans 11th career slam highlighted a five-run sixth. The Indians, who have the majors worst fielding percentage, prolonged both innings with errors in their fourth straight loss overall and seventh in a row in the Bronx. "I think we all understand the type of team we need to be to win, and not making teams earn every single thing they get does not put us in the best position to win," Indians manager Terry Francona said. Picked up off waivers on July 31 after the Toronto Blue Jays cut him for the second time this season, Rogers (2-0) became the 12th player to make a start for New York. Pitching in place of David Phelps (elbow inflammation), he allowed one run and four hits over five innings in his first start since Sept. 25 for Toronto and threw 88 pitches -- 45 was his high this season coming in. "I didnt have my confidence like I have right now," Rogers said about the difference between the way he is pitching now compared to earlier in the season. Rogers outing followed four fine starts by a makeshift rotation against the Detroit Tigers heralded staff. Three of those came from pitchers who made their first start for the Yankees in July: McCarthy, Capuano and Greene. The Yankees took advantage of three walks by Bauer in the first inning. Beltran, Stephen Drew and Martin Prado had RBI singles and another run scored on second baseman Jason Kipnis throwing error. Bauer was charged with five runs and six hits in 3 1-3 innings. John Axford walked the bases loaded -- one intentional -- before Beltran connected. C. J. Fiedorowicz Jersey . After two months of mediocrity, perhaps the Washington Nationals have turned the page. Strasburg struck out 11 in seven innings Wednesday night and the Nationals kept the Philadelphia Phillies bats quiet yet again in an 8-4, rain-interrupted win. Lamar Miller Jersey . Adam LaRoche will take that. "I like our position in the standings and I like how our team is playing," LaRoche said after Washington swept a day-night doubleheader from the Cubs on Saturday. BARCELONA, Spain -- Diego Costa scored his Spanish league-leading ninth and 10th goals of the season to give Atletico Madrid a 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday, extending its club record with an eighth straight win to start the domestic campaign. The win at its Vicente Calderon Stadium kept Atletico level on points with Barcelona at the top of the table and five points ahead of Real Madrid after both rivals won on Saturday. Diego Costa was born in Brazil but holds a Spanish passport, and his latest performance will surely give Spain coach Vicente del Bosque even more reason to stick to his plan of calling him up to join the world champions for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Diego Costa made up for a missed penalty by tapping in Filipe Luis cross three minutes before halftime and he added another goal with a move that combined finesse and power in the 62nd. His double gave him two more goals than Barcelonas injured Lionel Messi and three more than Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. "I dont like missing penalties. Thats normal. The good thing is that I had the chance to score the other goals," Diego Costa said. "I dont think about my number of goals. I just want to go step by step and hope I can keep scoring. The important thing is that we win, not who scores." Diego Costa also added that he was ready to play for Spain, a country that had "given him everything" professionally during the past five years. Celta substitute Manuel "Nolito" Agudo halved the deficit in the 71st and the forward threatened to grab the equalizer late, but a tiring Atletico held on to the three points. Elsewhere, Valencia drew 1-1 at Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla edged Almeria 2-1 at home, and Getafe beat visitors Real Betis 3-1. Valencia went in front through Ever Banegas 43rd-minute penalty after Sofiane Feghouli was fouled in the box by Aymeric Laporte, but Bilbaos Mikel Rico equalized in the 76th to leave both teams four points behind fourth-place Villarreal. Ivan Rakitic headed in Marko Marins short cross in injury time to give Sevilla the dramatic win over last-place Almeria, which remained the only winless team in the first division. Getafe eased to its third win in a row thanks to Pedro Leons two goals and a third from Adrian Colunga. Leon caught Betis goalie Guillermo Sara off his line expecting a cross from his free kick, with the attacking midfielder instead lobbing the ball over the keeper and into the net to open the scoring before he headed in a second goal. Braxton Miller Jersey. Atletico coach Diego Simeone and his players may insist they are not contemplating a challenge for the league title with their mantra of "just going forward game by game," but Celta coach Luis Enrique is one of many who considers them a contender. "Its not for me to talk about them, but they are the most dangerous opponent we have faced so far," Enrique said. "If they keep playing at this level it would be silly not to consider them for the title." While Diego Costa continued to impress, his strike partner David Villa had a game he will likely want to forget. Celta goalkeeper Yoel Rodriguez turned back a number of his shots before Villa wasted a pass from Diego Costa that had left him alone with only the goalkeeper to beat. The 31-year-old Villa aggravated a case of arthritis in his left ankle just before the miss and immediately asked to be substituted in the 58th. Atletico also lost captain Gabi Fernandez to a left knee sprain late, leading to the debut of French midfielder Joshua Guilavogui. Rodriguez was particularly outstanding in the 25th when he blocked two clear opportunities following teammate Hugo Mallos foul of Filipe Luis in the area. Diego Costa stepped up to take the resulting penalty, but Rodriguez smothered his shot and was quick enough to retreat to his far post to swat away Villas attempt to poke in the rebound. But Rodriguez could do nothing when Celtas Alex Lopez knocked the ball back into his own area where Filipe Luis squared for both Diego Godin and Diego Costa to push the ball in. The goal was awarded to Diego Costa. Diego Costas second goal came when he neatly chested down a long pass, used one arm to brush off last defender David Costas, and fired the ball under Rodriguez. "Costa is our soul," said Simeone. "He played a great game. He is constantly growing and can get even better." Both Atletico and Barcelona can match Madrids record start of nine consecutive wins to start the season in 1968 in the next round after the international break. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
San Diego, CA - The San Diego Chargers were able to get some business out of the way prior to their upcoming training camp, with the team agreeing to terms with running back Danny Woodhead on a two-year contract extension through the 2016 season. Byung-Ho Park Jersey . Woodhead, whose 76 receptions in 2013 were the second-most by a running back in the NFL last season, had one year remaining on the original deal he signed with San Diego in March of 2013. The versatile five-year pro put together a strong debut with the Chargers, recording a career-high 605 receiving yards and adding 429 yards on the ground on 106 carries. Woodhead also scored a personal-best eight touchdowns (six receiving, two rushing) and added 262 yards on 12 kick returns. "Danny is an integral part of our offense," said Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. "His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year. We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future." Woodhead spent three seasons with New England prior to joining the Chargers and was a member of the Patriots 2011 AFC Championship team. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets in 2009. For his career, Woodhead has compiled 1,692 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 371 attempts and caught 176 passes for 1,674 yards with 10 scores. Kurt Suzuki Jersey . Lester pitched six strong innings and Donaldson homered twice and drove in four runs as the Athletics won 11-3 Tuesday night, snapping the Royals eight-game winning streak. Lester (13-7) has won all three of his starts since joining the As in a trade from Boston in a deadline deal on July 31 that sent All-Star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Red Sox. Lester struck out nine and allowed three runs on six hits and two walks. The timing of the trade was bad for the Royals, having to face Lester twice in 10 days. "Id rather face Cespedes four times in a game than face Lester one game," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "Thats just me. Thats not taking anything away from Cespedes. He can beat you with one swing of the bat." The Royals have won 11 of 13, with both losses coming against Lester -- who improved to 9-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 13 career starts against Kansas City. Donaldson homered in the seventh and eighth off left-hander Bruce Chen for his third multi-homer game of the season. He also added an RBI double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. "It helps when you have contributors up and down the lineup," Donaldson said. "We believe that its going to happen more times than not. We had some balls that were hit hard for outs, and then we had a lot of balls that fell in for us tonight." Brandon Moss had four hits, matching his career high, as the As finished with a season-high 20 hits. "He looked like Wade Boggs up there," As manager Bob Melvin said. "Obviously, we would have loved to gone out there and had a better performance from myself and the pitchers to keep us in the game," Guthrie said. "We play 162 of these and you take them for what its worth. They strung together a bunch of hits and they had a tough pitcher and won the game." Salvador Perez and Lorenzo Cain doubled in the Royals three-run fifth. TRAINERS ROOM Athletics: SS Jed Lowrie has a fractured right index finger, which was detected by a MRI Tuesday. He injured it Aug. 4 and it was originally believed to be a bruise as an X-ray showed no break. Lowrie, who played four days with it, is hopeful he can avoid the disabled list, but may need extra days off. Royals: LHP Scott Downs went on the DL with a stiff neck. ON DECK Athletics: LHP Scott Kazmir goes Wednesday. He has held opposing batters to a major league best .071 average with runners in scoring position and two out. Royals: LHP Jason Vargas has not walked a batter at home in 26 1-3 innings since an intentional pass to Yadier Molina on June 4. OUT OF A SLUMP Moss was in a 5-for-46 skid before collecting four hits against the Royals. Moss has four RBIs in the first two games of this series after driving in just one run in his previous 14 games. COOKING UP ZEROES As reliever Ryan Cook tossed a perfect seventh to extend his scoreless streak to 20 innings, the longest active streak in the majors. (SportsNetwork. Jeremy Lamb Jersey .com) - The struggling Ottawa Senators will try to get back on track when they welcome the Detroit Red Wings for Tuesdays clash at Canadian Tire Centre. Ottawa opened the season with a 4-1-0 record, but has posted only one victory over its last five outings, going 1-2-2 during the stretch. Coincidentally, the downturn has come directly after the Senators had a home game with Toronto postponed on Oct. 22 due to the shooting death of a Canadian solider in downtown Ottawa. The Sens hope to right the ship on home ice, where they have yet to lose in regulation this season. Ottawa is 2-0-2 as the host and is kicking off a four- game homestand tonight. The residency ends on Nov. 9 with the rescheduled meeting against Toronto. However, Tuesdays contest may not offer the best opportunity for Ottawa to bounce back after two consecutive losses. The Sens have dropped six of their last eight meetings against Detroit and the Red Wings have claimed four straight in Canadas capital city. After getting dealt a shootout loss by visiting Chicago on Thursday, Ottawa hit the road and lost a 4-2 decision Saturday in Boston. The score was tied at 1-1 after 20 minutes but Matt Fraser scored twice in the second period to put the Bruins ahead for good. Mark Stone and Mika Zibanejad both lit the lamp in the loss, and Robin Lehner made 26 saves for the Senators. There were stretches of the game that I thought we played well, said Stone. We werent structurally sound tonight. The Red Wings also hope to rebound from a loss tonight, having dropped a 3-2 shootout decision Sunday in Buffalo. Zemgus Girgensons scored the winner in the decisive phase to halt Detroits two-game winning streak. In the third round, Girgensons deked back to the forehand and lifted the puck into the left corner of the net. Michal Neuvirth preserved the win by not biting on Henrik Zetterbergs fake and making the stop. Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist and Tomas Tatar also lit the lamp for the Red Wings. Jimmy Howard finished the contest with 19 stops. Detroit fired 38 shots on net in the loss, which came at the start of a three- game road trip. Its not like we did everything terrible, said Red Wings coach Mike Babcock. When a team plays the night before you should jump all over them. Datsyuk has been on a tear so far this season, posting a point in all six of his games after missing the start of 2014-15 with a separated shoulder. He has five goals and five assists and was named the NHLs Second Star of the Week on Monday. Craig Anderson will get the start in net for Ottawa. He is 3-5-0 with a 2.91 goals against average in his career versus Detroit. Howard will start for the Red Wings and he is 3-2-0 with a 3.78 GAA against the Senators. Cody Zeller Jersey .com) - Richard Shermans two interceptions highlighted a dominant defensive effort, as the Seattle Seahawks routed the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated NFC West Thanksgiving clash. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Jersey .C. - Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says Danny Granger, Chris Andersen and Udonis Haslem are still not ready to play and will miss Wednesday nights game against the Charlotte Hornets.BOSTON -- DeMar DeRozan understands that a playoff berth for the Raptors has meaning beyond Torontos locker room. Terrence Ross scored 24 points, Kyle Lowry 23 and the Raptors edged closer to their first playoff spot since 2008 with a 99-90 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. "Not just the franchise, the whole city of Toronto and Canada," said DeRozan, sitting at his locker with his left foot in a bucket of ice. "Ive been here five years and see how passionate the fans are. It definitely means a lot. We feed off them, the energy they bring every single night. That would be great for the city and we have to take advantage of the opportunity." DeRozan added 20 points for Toronto, which increased its Atlantic Division lead to 2 1/2 games over Brooklyn. The Raptors could have clinched a playoff spot if the Knicks lost at Sacramento later Wednesday, but New York beat the Kings 107-99. It was Lowrys eighth straight game of 20 or more points and helped the Raptors snap an 11-game losing streak in Boston. "Im not going to lie," Lowry said. "I think everybody tonight is rooting for that Western Conference team over there." The Raptors are also chasing a division title. They face Boston in the back end of a home and home on Friday. "We cant be satisfied just making the playoffs," DeRozan said. "We could go out there and play four games and be home. Weve worked too hard to get to this point just to slow down and pace ourselves. Weve got a long, long way to go." Jared Sullinger led Boston with 26 points, going 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and Avery Bradley scored 16. Boston lost for the seventh time in eight games. "Sully got hot and I thought even though we were really undersized we played pretty well in that time," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. Toronto captured its 19th road win, one off the club record set 2000-01. Boston guard Rajon Rondo was cut on the forehead midway into the third quarter and received nine stitches. He returned to tthe bench early in the fourth quarter with a bandage that ran from the bridge of his nose straight up to his forehead and he re-entered the game with 8:05 to play. Marvin Williams Jersey. . He finished with 15 assists and nine points. "I think it obviously says a lot," Stevens said. "He wants to play and I think the most important part about it is he came back in and guarded DeRozan. He went after it and I think he did a pretty good job on him." The Raptors had opened a 79-64 lead early the fourth quarter, but Boston went on a 9-0 run. Toronto pushed it back to 85-75 before Sullinger nailed consecutive 3s 34 seconds apart, narrowing it to four points with just under 6 minutes to play. "I saw that Rondo went down so I saw that we needed production, so I took it upon myself and just tried to get the best shots possible," Sullinger said. Chris Johnsons basket -- on an officials reviewed goaltending call -- closed it to 93-90 with 1:49 left, but Lowry and Ross hit consecutive 3s on the next two possessions to send the Raptors to the victory.
