NEW YORK – Marcus Stroman wasnt in the Blue Jays dugout for Sundays series finale at Yankee Stadium. White Sox Ian Clarkin Jersey . He was serving the first of what became a five-game suspension for his pitching indiscretion last week in Baltimore. Stroman appealed the six games he was given for throwing a fastball over the head of the Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph, an incident which took place one inning after Joseph spiked Jose Reyes during a play at home plate. The suspension was reduced by one game. It is a paid suspension. There was no in-person hearing. In fact, according to the ballclub, neither Stroman nor the team played a role in the process. The Major League Baseball Players Association negotiated down the original ruling. The net effect of the process results in Stromans final start of the season being pushed back one day. He was scheduled to start against Seattle on Thursday but, instead, could pitch on Friday against, you guessed it, Baltimore. Manager John Gibbons has said he would go with a bullpen-by-committee on Thursday in the event Stroman was ineligible to pitch. Todd Redmond may be the first to appear because, according to Gibbons, he could log the most innings. It has been an impressive rookie campaign for the 23-year-old Duke University alumnus. Stroman has won 10 games as a starter, posting a 3.29 ERA and 1.147 WHIP. JOHNSON DRAWS IN Dan Johnson arrived at Yankee Stadium on Sunday morning and found himself in the starting lineup. It marked his first start since July 30 in Boston, after which he went on the disabled list with a strained hamstring. Johnson came off the disabled list on Sept. 2 after completing a minor league rehabilitation assignment and has had only one at-bat since, a pinch-hit appearance in the Sept. 14 game versus Tampa Bay. Circumstances seem to have conspired against Johnson making more appearances down the stretch. “There have been numerous times from just about the fifth inning on, situations that arise and say if this happens, this happens, youre hitting and each time it seems its gone the other way,” said Johnson. Johnson couldnt predict what effect the layoff would have on his timing at the plate. “Sometimes its okay and sometimes its not,” said Johnson. “All you can do is just prepare and go out there and give everything Ive got. Its like one of those things where Ive got to try to work some at-bats, see some pitches and try to get my timing back as soon as possible.” Johnson went 0-for-3 with a walk on Sunday afternoon. STREAK SNAPPED The Blue Jays streak of starting pitchers going at least six innings came to an end at 26 games on Sunday. Drew Hutchison threw four-plus, allowing a home run to Brett Gardner and a single to Derek Jeter in the fifth inning before manager John Gibbons gave him the hook. ONE LAST STAND The Blue Jays return home for seven games to finish the regular season. Theyll play the Seattle Mariners for four, starting Monday. The American League East champion Baltimore Orioles will come in for three beginning on Friday. With Sundays 5-2 loss to the Yankees, Toronto concluded its 81-game road schedule with a record of 37-44. White Sox Bo Jackson Jersey . Jets head coach Paul Maurice made the announcement Saturday following the morning skate and confirmed Al Montoya will start in goal against the Dallas Stars on Sunday. White Sox Ryan Burr Jersey . The Rangers announced after Thursdays 4-2 loss to the New York Yankees that they would purchase Williams contract from Triple-A Round Rock. The 32-year-old Williams was released by Houston earlier this month after going 1-4 with a 6.Two Canadian snowboarders who were critical of Shaun Whites decision to pull out of the Olympic slopestyle competition were among eight riders who qualified Thursday for the events final. Max Parrot posted the days best score, a 97.50 in his second run. Sebastien Toutant also made it through to Saturdays final as the Sochi Olympics opened with one of the new events debuting at the games. White, the American star known for his daring halfpipe tricks, withdrew from the event on Wednesday, saying he wanted to concentrate on winning his third straight gold medal in the halfpipe. He hurt his wrist during a training run on Tuesday but initially indicated he would not miss the event. His decision to withdraw was mocked by Parrot and Toutant on social media. In a since-deleted tweet, Parrot said he thought White was "scared" to compete and "knows he wont be able to win the slopes." "I just think me and Seb said something all the other riders would have loved to tell, but maybe are scared to tell," Parrot told TSN on Thursday. "He choked a couple contests this year with not really good reasons. With him here he has the potential to be...Why choke on it for nothing?" Toutant tweeted, "Its easy to find excuses to pull out of a contest when you think you cant win." Toutant also deleted his message, but clarified his stance after his runs on Thursday. "I think its sad for alll Americans who trained hard for that spot," he added. White Sox Joe Crede Jersey. "Cant replace him - pretty sad. If you think its too dangerous, go do something else." The slopestyle course drew criticism as being potentially dangerous and was modified after Norways Torstein Horgmo broke his collarbone on Monday. The event, making its Olympic debut, features riders doing tricks over rails and jumps, like skateboarders in a city park only down a snow-covered trail. Parrots first run was smooth, but for a dragged hand at the end of one of his jumps, and drew a score of 91.75. The reigning Winter X Games gold medalist was better on his second run, which had few obvious flaws. Toutant scored a 74.25 on his first run and qualified through his second with a score of 87.25. Canadian Mark McMorris, a two-time X Games gold medalist, fell on his first run and will have to qualify through the semifinals. McMorris, who suffered a broken rib at the X Games last month, pulled off a triple-cork on his second run but earned an 89.25, not among the four best riders in his heat. Americans Sage Kotsenburg, Ryan Stassel and Charles Guldemond will also have to try to qualify through the semifinals, which are Saturday. Moving directly to the final with Parrot and Toutant were Norways Staale Sandbech and Gjermund Braaten, Finlands Peetu Piiroinen and Roope Tonteri, Great Britains Jamie Nicholls and Swedens Sven Thorgren.Cheap Nike Chiefs Jerseys Chargers Jerseys China Wholesale Raiders Jerseys China Cowboys Jerseys China Cheap Giants Jerseys Hoodies Cheap Eagles Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Nike Redskins Jerseys Lions Jerseys China Green Bay Packers Jerseys For Sale Wholesale Vikings Jerseys China Panthers Jerseys China Saints Jerseys China Cheap Buccaneers Jerseys Free Shipping Wholesale Cardinals Jerseys China Cheap Nike Rams Jerseys 49ers Jerseys China Wholesale Seahawks Jerseys China Cheap Nike Bears Jerseys Bills Jerseys China Cheap Nike Ravens Jerseys Cheap Falcons Jerseys Hoodies ' ' '
LOS ANGELES -- The puck was sitting underneath Sharks goalie Alex Stalock when Justin Williams whacked at his pads and the narrow space between them. Yankees A. J. Cole Jersey. Like a magic trick, the puck popped out behind Stalock in the San Jose net. While Sharks coach Todd McLellan decried the legality of the tiebreaking goal, the Los Angeles Kings celebrated their latest, greatest escape yet. Down 0-3 just a few days ago, the Kings squeezed through that minuscule opening and emerged in Game 7. Williams scored the go-ahead goal with 8:04 to play, and the Kings beat the Sharks 4-1 in Game 6 on Monday night, rallying all the way back from a daunting series deficit. Williams and Anze Kopitar each had two goals and an assist, and Jonathan Quick made 25 saves as the Kings became just the ninth team in NHL history to force a seventh game after losing the first three. "We certainly didnt want to go away quiet," Kopitar said. "Were only thinking about one more step now. Were going to have to play our best game of the series up there." Just three teams in NHL history have rallied from an 0-3 deficit to win a series, and Los Angeles has earned a shot to join them. The winner of the California rivals third playoff meeting in four years will face the top-seeded Anaheim Ducks in the second round. After watching three Kings goals and several violent scrums in the final minutes, Los Angeles fans roared with an intensity that likely hadnt been reached since the Kings Stanley Cup run two years ago, sending their team back to the Shark Tank on Wednesday night. A tie game turned when Williams whacked home Robyn Regehrs shot at Stalock, using the opportunistic scoring sense that has made the two-time Stanley Cup champion into a clutch playoff performer. "Maybe we got a break, maybe we didnt," Williams said. "But nobody blew the whistle." San Joses bench loudly protested the call, saying the puck should have been blown dead under Stalock, but it was upheld on video review. "We got cheated," McLellan said. "Simple as that. I was told that you could see the puck laying behind his feet the whole time." McLellan said the Sharks couldnt see the puck on video review. Kings coach Darryl Sutter thought replays showed the puck was loose. Kopitar followed with two goals 1:15 apart for the Kings, who have outscored San Jose 13-4 in the last three games after San Jose dominated the first three by a combined 17-8. Stalock stopped 26 shots in his first NHL playoff start, and James Sheppard scored on a double deflection in the second period for the spiraling Sharks. After utterly dominating the first two games, San Jose has scored just one goal against Quick in the last 128:24 in the series. "In my mind, if it gets to Game 7, it doesnt matter how it gets there," Sharks forward Logan Couture said. "It gets there, and youre going for one game. We played all year for the home ice. Im sure our building is going to be loud. Weve got to turn this thing around and win that game." McLellan changed starting goalies after Stanley Cup winner Antti Niemi was pulled from each of the last two losses. McLellan took a risk on Stalock, whose NHL experience consists of 27 regular-season games and 57 minutes of scoreless relief in this series. Drew Doughty had two assists for Los Angeles, which lost the first three games of the series in discouraging fashion before rallying with resounding victories at home in Game 4 and at the Shark Tank in Game 5 on Saturday night. Doughty set up the Kings first goal with a sharp pass to Williams, who has four goals in the Kings last two home games. San Jose got a 5-on-3 advantage for 1:38 early in the second period, but the Kings killed it off. The Sharks finally tied it moments after a third fruitless power play when Sheppard deflected Justin Brauns slap shot out of midair and off Regehr. After Williams go-ahead score, Kopitar got loose on a 2-on-1 rush with Williams, who set him up perfectly. Kopitar added a power-play goal. The Philadelphia Flyers are one of the three teams to accomplish what the Kings hope to do, rallying from three games down to beat Boston in 2010 with a roster including current Kings forwards Jeff Carter and Mike Richards. The Sharks played without key defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who left Game 5 early with an upper-body injury. The Canadian Olympic gold medallist was replaced by Matt Irwin, while streaky forward Marty Havlat also was in San Joses lineup for the first time in the series, replacing Mike Brown. NOTES: Los Angeles lost D Willie Mitchell to an undisclosed injury during the second period. ... The Sharks hadnt changed their starting goalie during the playoffs since 2001, when Miikka Kiprusoff took over for Evgeni Nabokov during a series. ... Vlasic had played in all 84 possible playoff games since joining the Sharks for the 2006-07 season. Yankees Joe DiMaggio Jersey . Kerr is in New York to work the game between the Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors for TNT.OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson asked his players a simple question during Fridays morning shootaround: How many of them had ever been on a team 14 games over .500? Only veterans Jermaine ONeal, Steve Blake and Andre Iguodala raised their hands. With so many home games remaining, the opportunity in front of the Warriors is rare. Golden State took another step forward Friday night by easing past the Atlanta Hawks 111-97 for its third straight win. "Were chasing greatness," Jackson said. "Were not going to be satisfied. Were going to continue to try to chalk up Ws, continue to battle and continue to celebrate where we are as a basketball team. Its a great time. And if nobody else knows it, we know it." David Lee had 18 points and six rebounds, and ONeal came off the bench to add 17 points and eight rebounds to lift the Warriors (39-24) a season-high 15 games over .500 with a relatively smooth win. Iguodala and Stephen Curry each scored 13 points to help Golden State build a 66-52 halftime lead and go ahead by 20 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors, fresh off a 4-2 road trip, are 8-2 since the All-Star break and beginning to look like the team that roared to the second-round of the playoffs last year. "Ive been 15 under in New York a bunch of times and when I first got here," Lee said. "It says a lot about the direction this organizations headed that were breaking through and reaching goals like that." Paul Millsap had 16 points and seven rebounds after missing the last five games because of a bruised right knee for the Hawks, who have lost five straight. Mike Scott added 14 points and DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Teague scored nine points apiece as Atlanta continued its late-season slide. The teams traded baskets for most of the first half until the Warriors put together a 12-1 spurt in the closing minutes that the Hawks (26-34) never recovered from. "We lost our focus," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. "We lost our meental toughness at the end of the second quarter and they were able to get out on us to like a 14-point lead going into halftime. Wholesale Yankees Jerseys. . That stretch really hurt us." Golden State began a stretch of nine of 11 and 13 of its final 20 games at Oracle Arena. The Warriors want to use the finishing stretch to re-establish their home-court advantage and make a run at the Los Angeles Clippers, who are four games ahead in the Pacific Division. The Warriors, who needed Iguodalas 3-pointer as time expired to beat the Hawks 101-100 in Atlanta on Jan. 3, allowed little drama in the rematch. Draymond Greens 3-pointer capped a run that put the Warriors ahead 97-77 with 6:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. The depleted Hawks, with big men Al Horford and Gustavo Ayon out for the season, never seriously challenged. The only major setback for the Warriors came when shooting guard Klay Thompson limped to the locker room six minutes into the first quarter with a strained lower back. He did not return for precautionary reasons, the team said. Thompson has been Golden States most durable player the past three years. He has played in a franchise-record 211 straight regular-season games to start his career. Jackson said Thompson couldve started the second half, but there was no reason to with the Warriors in control. Millsap moved Atlanta within four early in the third quarter, but he had little help inside. Golden State led 85-77 entering the fourth quarter before pulling away. "We got away from what weve been doing," Millsap said. "Its kind of tough to lose that discipline, especially when youre on the road." NOTES: Curry has made at least one 3-pointer in 51 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NBA after Kyle Korvers league-record 127-game streak ended in Atlantas loss at Portland on Wednesday. Korver was 1-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc against the Warriors. ... The Hawks play at the Clippers on Saturday night. ... SANTANDER, Spain -- Racing Santander made good on its threat to boycott its Copa del Rey quarterfinal against Real Sociedad over unpaid wages, refusing to play on Thursday because the clubs president did not resign. Authentic Jared Spurgeon Jersey . Sociedad held a 3-1 first-leg lead going into the match at El Sardinero Stadium, but players from third-tier Santander said they had no intention of playing if Angel Lavin and his board did not step down. Both teams took to the field but Santanders players immediately lined up near the half after kickoff and refused to play, with the referee suspending the game after one minute. Sociedad kicked the ball around before shooting it into the stands where spectators showed their support for the players by chanting "dont play!" "What we did today was in respect of football, a sport that we love," coach Paco Fernandez said. "Today was the most important game of our lives, but our dignity took precedence." International players union, FIFPRO, and Spanish union AFE both supported the move, which comes after the lower-tier clubs players had not been paid in four months despite promises by Lavin. Santanders actions could see the club fined or even banned from the Copa del Rey next season. "Its very difficult to decide to do this, especially in a quarterfinal. Its an extreme situation," defender Oriol Lozarano said. "We know what the consequences could be, that we can be kicked out of the competition, but we knew we had the support of the fans to do what we did." Its not the first time that Santander has used the domestic cup competition to bring awareness to its situation, with the players standing idly for 30 seconds to start a last-16 game against Almeria before eventually playing. That match also saw Santander ultras invade the presidents box, sparking off violent scenes. Fans were allowed to enter El Sardinero for free on Thursday. Santander has slipped down to the third division in just two seasons following the exit of former owner Ahsan Ali Syed, who left the club in crisis, relegated from the top-flight in 2012 and needing a cash injection just to stay afloat. Santander is not the first team to refuse to play a Copa del Rey game, with Barcelona boycotting a return leg against Atletico Madrid during the 1999-2000 season. But in that case, Barcelona boycotted because of scheduling with the international calendar leaving it with just nine outfield players available. Sociedad will play Barcelona in the semifinals. Authentic Carson Soucy Jersey . -- J.R. STUTTGART, Germany -- Roberto Bautista Agut defeated Lukas Rosol 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the Mercedes Cup final on Sunday for his second career title. Authentic Fredrik Claesson Jersey . Third-seeded Bautista Agut saved five of the six break points he faced and converted three of his six chances to win in 1 hour, 42 minutes. World No. 48 Rosol fired 13 aces to Bautista Aguts two, but the Czech was unable to prevent the 23rd-ranked Spaniard from claiming his second title in as many months. "Since the start of the season, I believed a lot in myself and my work," Bautista Agut told the ATP website. "Ive been playing really well, won a lot of matches and it was only a question of time before this happened." Bautista Agut, who defeated defending champion and top-seeded Fabio Fognini on Saturday, claimed his maiden victory at s-Hertogenbosch last month. Rosol, who knocked out second-seeded Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in his semifinal, was also bidding for his second title after winning at Bucharest last year. "I was looking to find a good rhythm, but the serve was not working at all," Rosol said. "I had to risk a lot with my shots. The level was not as good as the previous rounds and its a pity because I felt really good this week." Authentic Mats Zuccarello Jersey . 1-9 on TSN. This week, they discuss standout moments from the NHL and NBA Drafts, the Coyotes speaking frankly and FIFAs famous foam. Bruce Arthur, Toronto Star: My thumb is up to the NBA. Heres why. The NBA draft is a show about possibilities, and thats fun. Then, Thursday night, midway through the first round, Adam Silver stopped the proceedings to tell a story about a prospect named Isaiah Austin, whose career ended last week after he was diagnosed with a disease called Marfan Syndrome. Then Silver stepped up to make Austin a ceremonial pick on behalf of the entire Association. They took a moment about the cruel end of possibility, and the NBA made it beautiful. Best moment in draft history, hands down. Steve Simmons, Sun Media: My thumb is up to Don Maloney, general manager of the newly named Arizona Coyotes - and yeah, that sounds weird - for his unusual honesty in explaining why the club has chosen to buy out top-line centre, Mike Ribeiro. Normally youd get a little “blah blah blah” from an NHL GM on why a player was being let go. But Maloney was more than clear here: he said the team didnt want to put up with Ribeiros behavioral issues, could not tolerate them going forward and could not have him part of the team anymore. The Coyotes, who couldnt afford lunch a year or two ago let alone buying someone out, will be paying Ribeiro $2 million a year for the next six years just to go away. Authentic Adam McQuaid Jersey. Michael Farber, Sports Illustrated: My thumb is up to one of the great sporting advances of the past decade. Baseballs expanded replay? Advanced stats? Heck, no. Im talking about the so-called felony foam world cup referees have been spraying on the field to mark the spot for free kicks and, more importantly, delineate where defenders can set their wall. This low-tech marvel, which looks like shaving cream and dissipates in a minute, eliminates time wasting and the inevitable cheating by defenders who try to creep closer to the spot. While baseball needed a replay room in New York, FIFA found an inexpensive way to literally lay down the law. The gimmick belongs in the sports hall of foam. Sorry. Dave Naylor, TSN: My thumb is up to the sons of athletes who chose their own path to make a name for themselves. Im refering to the selection of Elfrid Payton Jr. in this weeks NBA Draft, going 10th overall to the Philadelphia 76ers. Payton is the son of CFL Hall-of-Famer Elfrid Payton - better known as SWAC to some - who played for five CFL teams including Baltimore, Montreal and Winnipeg. Like recent NHL draft picks Darnell Nurse and Seth Jones - whose fathers played in the CFL and NBA respectively - Payton put his good athletic genes to use in another sport. Its always a nice story to see a young athlete follow in his fathers footsteps. But its a little more interesting to see them go their own way. Cheap Nike Chiefs Jerseys Chargers Jerseys China Wholesale Raiders Jerseys China Cowboys Jerseys China Cheap Giants Jerseys Hoodies Cheap Eagles Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Nike Redskins Jerseys Lions Jerseys China Green Bay Packers Jerseys For Sale Wholesale Vikings Jerseys China Panthers Jerseys China Saints Jerseys China Cheap Buccaneers Jerseys Free Shipping Wholesale Cardinals Jerseys China Cheap Nike Rams Jerseys 49ers Jerseys China Wholesale Seahawks Jerseys China Cheap Nike Bears Jerseys Bills Jerseys China Cheap Nike Ravens Jerseys Cheap Falcons Jerseys Hoodies ' ' '
MELBOURNE, Australia -- As three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic held the Australian Open trophy in a photo shoot before Fridays draw, he joked that having his fingerprints on it may in some way help him win the title for a fourth consecutive year. Rays Jose Mujica Jersey . The draw certainly didnt dent Djokovics chances, with top-seeded Rafael Nadal, No. 4 Andy Murray, No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro and No. 6 Roger Federer all stacked in the opposite half. Djokovics new coach, six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, attended the draw and duly noted that Nadal, Federer and co were in "a loaded half, thats for sure." Djokovic, who is on a 24-match winning streak, opens against No. 90-ranked Lukas Lacko and potentially has a quarterfinal against Stanislas Wawrinka, who took him to 12-10 in the fifth set at the Australian Open last year. The bottom half of the draw also contains No. 3 David Ferrer, who lost in a semifinal upset at Auckland on Friday, and No. 7 Tomas Berdych. Djokovic conceded it was an advantage to avoid the other tournament favourites early but said: "Regardless of the draw, the potential opponents that I have in later rounds, I need to direct my attention to my next opponent. There are plenty of players who are able to win the Australian Open this year or any other Grand Slam title." On the womens side, top-ranked Serena Williams opens against Australian teenager Ashleigh Barty and has 2011 U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur and two-time finalist Li Na in her half. Two-time defending Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova are in the opposite half, meaning they could only meet Serena Williams in the final. The top half of the mens draw was the talking point, starting with Nadals first-round match against Australian Bernard Tomic. "I think thatll be a night match, for sure," Becker quipped. "But a tough, tricky one for both players. Tomic will certainly have the home support." Nadal missed last years Australian Open with a left knee injury during a seven-month absence from the tour. He returned to win 10 titles in 2013 and regain the No. 1 ranking, overhauling Djokovic in October. Tomic reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2011 and has been ranked as high as No. 27. His only previous meeting with Nadal resulted in a straight-sets defeat in the third round of the 2011 Australian Open. Nadal also has No. 25 Gael Monfils, former No. 1-ranked Lleyton Hewitt and 16th-seeded Kei Nishikori in his section. Federer opens against Australian wildcard entry James Duckworth and Murray takes on Go Soeda of Japan. Likely quarterfinals on that half would feature Nadal against del Potro and Federer against Murray. Del Potro was due to play the final of the Sydney International against Tomic on Saturday. In the bottom half of the womens draw, Azarenka faces Johanna Larsson of Sweden in the first round, while Sharapova takes on American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and could face former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals and Azarenka in the semis. Stosur, Australias only seeded player at No. 17, opens against Czech Klara Zakopalova. On Friday, Zakopalova beat Stosur 6-3, 6-2 in the Hobart International semifinals. Rays Tommy Pham Jersey . Canada Day is here and with it comes Free Agent Frenzy as the NHLs 30 teams storm out of the gate for signing season. Rays Mallex Smith Jersey . The team reported the signing on its website Thursday, but said Friday the deal was off in "a mutual parting of the ways that had to do with the language of the contract.London, England - Top seed Novak Djokovic and reigning champion Andy Murray highlighted Mondays fourth-round winners at The Championships, Wimbledon. A rainy day saw the former champion Djokovic handle 14th-seeded Frenchman Jo- Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) under the roof on the famed Centre Court. The brisk match came to a close in 1 hour, 52 minutes when the return-of-serve artist Djokovic smacked a cross-court, two-handed backhand winner that just caught the line to seal the deal. Djokovic popped 14 aces and was not broken in the bout, while Tsonga struck 19 aces, but was broken twice by the Serbian stalwart. The 27-year-old Djokovic has now won his last 18 sets against Tsonga, who also lost to the Serbian star in the 2008 Australian Open final. The recent French Open runner-up Djokovic titled here in 2011 and was last years Wimbledon runner-up to Murray. The Serb has reached at least the quarterfinals here six years running. His quarterfinal opponent will be Croat Marin Cilic. The third-seeded Murray reached a seventh straight Wimbledon quarterfinal by getting past 20th-seeded 6-foot-8 South African Kevin Anderson 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) in 2 hours, 33 minutes, also under the roof on Centre Court, as wet weather forced the issue on Day 7 of the fortnight. The roof was open when the match started and closed during the second set. "When it was outdoors, I played very well and was in a good position. When we came back indoors, he started to strike the ball a bit better, he started serving better," Murray said. "Its a good win because he was playing well at the end and making it very tough for me. Its good to get through in straight sets." The match was watched by the likes of Virgin tycoon Richard Branson, pop singer Cliff Richard and two-time 1970s Wimbledon finalist Ilie Nastase in a striking Romanian army uniform. Murray has now won his last 17 matches at the AEC, where be captured an Olympic gold medal in 2012 and gave Britain its first male Wimbledon singles champion in 77 years a year ago. The 27-year-old Scot, who has yet to drop a set thus far, hasnt titled anywhere since capturing the Wimbledon title last July. His quarterfinal opponent on Wednesday will be rapidly rising 11th-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who reached his fiirst-ever Wimbledon quarter by getting past unseeded Argentine Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in between rain drops on Monday. Rays Adam Moore Jersey. The 23-year-old Dimitrov captured his first-ever grass-court title at The Queens Club in London a few weeks ago and is a perfect 8-0 on grass this year. Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka beat Uzbekistans Denis Istomin 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the fourth round. The fifth-seeded Swiss slugger tallied 12 aces among his 33 winners, broke Istomins serve four times and saved all three break points against him in a match that was postponed because of rain on Saturday. Wawrinka will face in-form Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the round of 16. The 19th-seeded Lopez took out ninth-seeded John Isner, 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3), 7-5. Isner was the last American standing in the mens draw. Lopez and the 6-foot-10 Isner combined for a whopping 86 aces, including 52 by the towering American. For the first time since 1911, there are no Americans, male of female, playing in the fourth round at Wimbledon. The left-handed Lopez has been on fire on grass, going 12-1 on the surface this year, including a title in Eastbourne two weeks ago and a runner-up finish at The Queens Club in London the week before that. The 26th-seeded Cilic became the first man to reach the quarterfinals on Monday by handling Frances Jeremy Chardy, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4, 6-4. Cilic will appear in his fourth career Grand Slam quarterfinal (1-2). Kei Nishikori reached the fourth round by completing a five-set victory over Italian Simone Bolelli. The 10th seed from Japan claimed a 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory to arrange a meeting with eighth-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic. Nishikori-Bolelli was suspended because of rain on Saturday with the two tied at 3-3 in the deciding set. In some more fourth-round action on Tuesday, second-seeded world No. 1 Rafael Nadal will face upstart Aussie Nick Kyrgios; fourth-seeded former No. 1 Roger Federer will take on 23rd-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo; Wawrinka will tangle with Lopez; and Raonic will lock horns with Nishikori. The 14-time Grand Slam winner Nadal is the reigning French and U.S. Open champ who is also a two-time Wimbledon titlist, while the 17-time major champion Federer is a seven-time Wimbledon champ. Cheap Nike Chiefs Jerseys Chargers Jerseys China Wholesale Raiders Jerseys ChinaCowboys Jerseys China Cheap Giants Jerseys Hoodies Cheap Eagles Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Nike Redskins Jerseys Lions Jerseys China Green Bay Packers Jerseys For SaleWholesale Vikings Jerseys China Panthers Jerseys China Saints Jerseys China Cheap Buccaneers Jerseys Free Shipping Wholesale Cardinals Jerseys China Cheap Nike Rams Jerseys 49ers Jerseys China Wholesale Seahawks Jerseys China Cheap Nike Bears Jerseys Bills Jerseys China Cheap Nike Ravens Jerseys Cheap Falcons Jerseys Hoodies ' ' '
HOUSTON -- Johnny Football has done it again. Cardinals John Brebbia Jersey . Facing another problem that could have derailed his football career, Texas A&Ms Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel has evaded serious punishment one more time. Manziel was suspended Wednesday for the first half of the Aggies season opener against Rice on Saturday for what the school said was an "inadvertent" violation of NCAA rules involving signing autographs. The quarterback was being investigated for allegedly accepting money for autographs from memorabilia brokers, a violation of NCAA rules that could have led to a much longer suspension. ESPN first reported the allegations against Manziel earlier this month. The latest problem isnt the first time off-the-field trouble has put Manziels career in jeopardy. Manziel was arrested last summer after a bar fight near campus and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a fake ID and failure to identify himself to police. It was an incident that put him in danger of being suspended from school and left him having to earn the starting job in fall camp. Manziel admitted this June that he failed to identify himself to police following the altercation. As part of a plea deal, other charges against the 20-year-old, including disorderly conduct, were dismissed, and it looked as though Manziels trouble was behind him before the latest problems came to light. The news of Manziels suspension was the talk of Twitter on Wednesday, with many questioning the length of the suspension. Former NFL and MLB star Deion Sanders was incredulous at the brevity of Manziels suspension, after Dez Bryant was suspended for an entire season while at Oklahoma State after lying about having dinner with Sanders. "Can we investigate the investigators? (at)DezBryant got suspended a season 4 lying about a dinner that wasnt a violation & Manziel gets a half," Sanders tweeted soon after the ruling was made public. The decision also had a major impact in Las Vegas, where the odds of Manziels chances of repeating as a Heisman winner and Texas A&Ms chances of winning the national championship shifted dramatically. RJ Bell, the founder of sports betting website Pregame.com, said Manziels chances of winning the Heisman jumped from 12/1 to 6/1, and the teams shot at the title increased from 18/1 to 10/1. The penalty appears to have brought a quick end to an investigation that could have ruined the seventh-ranked Aggies season. The school issued a statement Wednesday saying it declared the Heisman winner ineligible and that the NCAA agreed to reinstate Manziel after he sits out the first half against the underdog Owls. "I am proud of the way both Coach Sumlin and Johnny handled this situation, with integrity and honesty," Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp said in the statement. "We all take the Aggie Code of Honor very seriously and there is no evidence that either the university or Johnny violated that code." According to the statement, Texas A&M and the NCAA "confirmed there is no evidence Manziel received money in exchange for autographs based on currently available information and statements by Manziel." Conditions for reinstatement include Manziel discussing his actions with teammates and A&M revising how it educates student-athletes about signing autographs. "Student-athletes are often asked for autographs from fans, but unfortunately, some individuals sole motivation in seeking an autograph is for resale," said Kevin Lennon, NCAA vice-president of academic and membership affairs. "It is important that schools are cognizant and educate student-athletes about situations in which there is a strong likelihood that the autograph seeker plans to resell the items." Manziel likely will be replaced for the opening half by either junior Matt Joeckel or freshman Kenny Hill. Joeckel has thrown only 11 passes in his college career. Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman last season, setting numerous school and Southeastern Conference records while leading A&M to an 11-2 mark and a victory over No. 1 Alabama in its first season in the SEC. He followed that with a high-profile off-season of road trips to Las Vegas and the NBA Finals. Manziel got to meet Heat star LeBron James and rapper Drake, and he posted some Tweets that made headlines. His biggest misstep, however, came during the summer when he departed early from a quarterback camp for high school players run by the Manning family in Louisiana. Manziel said it was a mutual decision after he overslept and missed meetings and activities. Dat Nguyen, an All-America linebacker at Texas A&M in the 1990s and former assistant coach for the Aggies, lamented Manziels mistakes, but noted what hes done for the program. "Im a little bit disappointed with whats going on down there," Nguyen said recently. "Going into the season I thought this would be the year for A&M to win a national championship and this has been a distraction. He made a bad decision and hes just got to move on ... but overall the guy has put A&M back on the map." Former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum, who is now a special adviser to the schools president, has watched Manziels career with great interest and is looking forward to seeing how hell follow up his incredible first season. "This young man has been in a position that no one has ever been in," Slocum said before the suspension was announced. "Hes been a freshman and a 20-year-old winner of the Heisman Trophy, and hes done some great things with that and hes had a few things Im sure hed like to have a do-over with. And if I were advising him, I might have said, Thats probably not in your best interests to do that or say that or be there, but in terms of the upcoming season, Im as anxious as anybody to see what happens and see what the results are." Manziel was the main attraction at SEC Media Days, where he was peppered with questions but answered with the same cool and calm he often shows in the face of a pass rush. "I dont feel like Ive done anything thats catastrophic," Manziel said at the time. "Of course, Ive made my mistakes. Its time to grow up." The day before the Aggies reported for preseason practice, ESPN reported Manziel signed thousands of autographs for brokers in Texas, Florida and Connecticut, and cited unidentified sources who said Manziel was paid thousands for dollars for the signatures. Manziel has been off-limits to the media since news broke of the NCAA investigation, but has been practicing with the Aggies. Cardinals Francisco Pena Jersey .  He was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5th. The 34-year-old Laval, Que. native has played six seasons with the Penguins. Cardinals Jack Flaherty Jersey . New York then missed its next six shots and scored only two points the rest of the night. The Los Angeles Clippers defence and the Knicks general ineptitude both played a role in the unsurprising finish to a meeting of two teams headed in opposite directions.Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Kai Forbath kicked a 26-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to lift the Washington Redskins to a 27-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. The Redskins snapped a six-game losing streak and dealt a significant blow to the Eagles playoff hopes. Philadelphia has lost three straight games since a Thanksgiving win at Dallas gave it sole possession of first place in the NFC East. A win at home by the Cowboys against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday will eliminate the Eagles from postseason contention. The Eagles (9-6) have been prone to turning the ball over this season and cornerback Bashaud Breeland intercepted Mark Sanchezs pass at the Washington 42-yard inside the two-minute warning. Robert Griffin III then threw a short pass to Pierre Garcon, who spun out of a defenders grasp for a 23-yard gain. A roughing the passer penalty tacked on 15 more yards and the Redskins added one more first down, forcing Philadelphia to use each of its three timeouts before Forbath nailed the go-ahead kick. The Eagles, who had erased a 24-14 deficit, were still alive with three seconds remaining because Forbath drilled Trey Burton with the kickoff at midfield. Cornerback David Amerson knocked down Sanchezs pass in the end zone to end the game. Griffin completed 16-of-23 passes for 220 yards with one interception and Darrel Young had two 1-yard touchdown runs in the third quarter for Washington (4-11). Sanchez was 37-of-50 for 374 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Riley Cooper. Tight end Zach Ertz set an Eagles franchise record with 15 catches for a career-high 115 yards. A rough third quarter actually began favorably for the Eagles, who started in the red zone after Andre Roberts fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half. Philadelphia failed to capitalize on the turnover when Cody Parkey missed a 34-yard field goal wide right. Washington benefited from a pair of roughing the passer penalties on their next drive. The second infraction set up the first of Youngs two short touchdown runs on 1st-and-goal. The normally reliable Parkey then missed a 46-yard try wide right after LeSean McCoy was wrapped up for no gain on 3rd-and-1 at the Washington 28. The rookie had missed only two attempts (229-of-31) through the first 14 games. Cardinals Giovanny Gallegos Jersey. On the ensuing Washington drive, former Eagle DeSean Jackson caught a 55-yard pass, beating cornerback Bradley Fletcher on the play, and drew a pass interference penalty in the end zone. Young scored to give the Redskins a 24-14 lead with 26 seconds left in the third. The Eagles rallied as Sanchez found Cooper for a 16-yard touchdown and Parkey made a 22-yard field goal following a Griffin interception. Philadelphia coughed the ball up on the games opening drive. Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan forced a Sanchez fumble on a sack and made the recovery at the Philadelphia 47-yard line. Forbath kicked a 25-yard field goal to give Washington a 3-0 lead. The Redskins defense then made a stop, but Breeland was charged with an illegal use of hands penalty to extend the drive. Instead of a three-and-out, the Eagles marched 79 yards in 10 plays. McCoy ran around the right end for an 11-yard touchdown. The Redskins regained the lead with a quick response. Jackson beat Fletcher for a 51-yard grab. The catch put Jackson over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Alfred Morris rumbled 28 yards for a touchdown on the next play to make it 10-7 with 19 seconds left in the first quarter. The Eagles moved back in front with a 15-play, 93-yard drive in the second quarter. Sanchez converted a 3rd-and-25 with a 26-yard pass to Jordan Matthews and later hit Cooper on a 3-yard slant for a touchdown. Philadelphia looked to add to its lead before halftime, but punted after reaching the Washington 40. Game Notes Philadelphia leads the league with 35 turnovers ... Morris rushed for 83 yards on 21 carries. He joined Stephen Davis (1999-2001) as the only running backs in team history to rush for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons ... Kerrigan became the first Redskins player to record a sack in five consecutive games since Fred Stokes in 1991 ... Jackson is the fifth player to reach 1,000 receiving yards in his first season with Washington. Bobby Mitchell (1962), Henry Ellard (1994), Laveranues Coles (2003) and Santana Moss (2005) also accomplished the feat ... Parkey tied an Eagles rookie record for made field goals with 30. Paul McFadden set the mark in 1984. Cheap Nike Chiefs Jerseys Chargers Jerseys China Wholesale Raiders Jerseys China Cowboys Jerseys China Cheap Giants Jerseys HoodiesCheap Eagles Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Nike Redskins Jerseys Lions Jerseys China Green Bay Packers Jerseys For Sale Wholesale Vikings Jerseys China Panthers Jerseys China Saints Jerseys China Cheap Buccaneers Jerseys Free Shipping Wholesale Cardinals Jerseys China Cheap Nike Rams Jerseys 49ers Jerseys China Wholesale Seahawks Jerseys China Cheap Nike Bears Jerseys Bills Jerseys China Cheap Nike Ravens Jerseys Cheap Falcons Jerseys Hoodies ' ' '
Regina, SK - The first week of the 2014 CFL regular season draws to a close tonight when the defending Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders take the field against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Mosaic Stadium. Royals Cam Gallagher Jersey . Watch the action live on TSN and TSN GO at 7pm et/4pm pt. This is a replay of the 101st Grey Cup from November, when the Roughriders delivered a convincing 45-23 thrashing of Hamilton in front of nearly 45,000 fans. The Riders, led by head coach Corey Chamblin, would like nothing more than to get off to the same type of start that they had a year ago when they rattled off five straight victories and captured eight of the first nine outings overall. The team did stumble slightly down the stretch with back-to-back defeats to close out the regular season and suffered a four-game slide during the month of September, but the club proved to be resilient, finishing 11-7 overall, but taking home the Grey Cup when all was said and done. The third-leading passer in terms of yards last season with 4,154, Darian Durant is back under center for Saskatchewan as it begins the quest for back- to-back titles, something that has happened only once in the last 15 years. Durant, who has been with the Riders for his entire nine-year CFL career, tossed a personal best 31 touchdowns and finished with an efficiency rating of 95.7. In 2013, Durant had a trio of top-notch receivers who he relied heavily on, but one of those, Weston Dressler has since signed with the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL, leaving Chris Getzlaf and Taj Smith to carry more of the load this time around. All three posted at least 1,000 yards through the air, with Dressler leading the way with nine touchdowns. However, Getzlaf and Smith both landed in the end zone seven times and the former averaged a hefty 16.6 yards per catch. Another major change for the Riders is the departure of running back Kory Sheets, the most valuable player of the Grey Cup, as he signed with the NFLs Oakland Raiders. Sheets was second in the league with 1,598 yards and tied for the lead with 12 rushing scores, which means theres a huge void to be filled in the backfield for the club. A couple of newcomers, Keith Toston and Anthony Allen will be tasked with producing on the ground moving forward. Saskatchewan has to be pleased with the fact that they owned the toughest scoring defense in the CFL a year ago, allowing only 22.1 ppg, but that wont be easy to duplicate after losing Alex Hall. The defensive lineman placed second in the league with 16 sacks, but like many successful CFL performers, he too has latched on with an NFL squad (the Carolina Panthers) for the time being. On other side, the Tiger-Cats were the opposite of Saskatchewan through the first month of last season, winning just a single game in five tries. But the group did finish strong with four wins in five opportunities before, putting up a 10-8 mark, before defeating Montreal and Toronto in the playoffs. Kent Austin, the head coach, general manager and vice president of football operations for Hamilton, does have a major issue to clear up this time around with respect to his quarterback. Last year he watched Henry Burris tear up defenses for a league-best 4,927 yards, but this time around he will have to find a leader in either Zach Collaros, Dan LeFevour or Jeremiah Masoli. Collaros has the most experience of the three after spending a couple of years with Toronto, but he is still a major work in progress. LeFevour finished with almost as many rushing yards (317) as passing (394) with the Cats last year while Masoli attempted a grand total of just two passes for the program in 2013. At least for this week, it doesnt help that receiver Andy Fantuz is on the injured list, because he was one of the top pass catchers in the game with 65 grabs for 896 yards. That leaves Bakari Grant as the primary focus down the field after he posted 69 receptions for 947 yards, but a mere two touchdowns a year ago. Running back C.J. Gable is capable of adding another dimension to the offense, having gained 782 yards and scored seven times on 130 carries in his first CFL campaign, but the squad will have to be careful not to run him into the ground too early. From a defensive perspective, there is plenty of work to be done for the Tiger-Cats after they finished with a minus-13 in the turnover department. The squad logged just 14 interceptions, second-fewest behind only a hapless Winnipeg group, which they turned into a league-low 142 return yards. Hamilton was also last in the CFL in sacks with just 35. Stretching back to 1961 and focusing only on games that took place during the regular season, Saskatchewan holds a slight advantage in the series with the Cats at 42-38-4. The Riders have taken four of the last five and a startling 17 of the last 20 matchups with Hamilton. Royals Eric Skoglund Jersey . But it took until the playoffs for the Canadiens to find the balanced attack they have sought all season. Getting offensive production from all four forward lines has helped them win the opening three games of their first-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. They can sweep the best-of-seven series with a win on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. "Thats a big strength," Eller said Monday. "I cant stress how important it is to have everybody involved, everybody contributing." Players who underachieved on attack all season, notably Eller and Bourque, have found new life in the post-season. It has helped the normally low-scoring Canadiens average four goals per game against the Bolts, who are missing top goaltender Ben Bishop to an arm injury. Bourque, a two-time 27-goal scorer who had a dreadful campaign of only nine goals, has three in as many games in the playoffs while playing left wing with centre Eller and right-winger Brian Gionta. Eller, who had 12 goals in 77 games including stretch of 24 games with only one assist, has two goals and shares the team scoring lead with four points with Brendan Gallagher and defenceman P.K. Subban. The Eller line has produced five goals, one more than Gallaghers unit with Tomas Plekanec and Brandon Prust. The top line of David Desharnais, Max Pacioretty and Thomas Vanek has scored only twice, but has combined for 29 shots in three games. The fourth line of Daniel Briere with Michael Bournival and Dale Weise has only one goal, but it was a big one as Weise scored in overtime in Game 1. "Right now we have momentum and were riding that wave," said Eller. "We knew depth was going to be important and I think a big part of why were having success is we have all four lines contributing in one way or another. "I guess the playoffs are just bringing out the best in all of us." The Lightning are aware they have dug themselves a deep hole. Only three teams have ever come back from a three-game deficit to win an NHL playoff series, most recently the Philadelphia Flyers against Boston in the second round in 2010. The Canadiens are 31-0 when holding a 3-0 lead. Tampa Bay had its best outing in Game 3 on Sunday night, but dropped a 3-2 decision. They thought they had a 2-1 lead in the second period, but Ryan Callahans goal was waived off due to Alex Killorns incidental contact on goalie Carey Price. "That was obviously a tough one to swallow," said Lightning star Steven Stamkos. "A couple of calls didnt go our way. "We cant dwell on it now. We realize the situation were in. We just have to win one game. Our backs are against the wall. Im pretty sure youre going to see a good effort from us. Thats our motto right now: Just win one, then lets go back home and see what happens." Some wondered if Stamkos would be fit to play after taking an accidental knee to the head from Caanadiens defenceman Alexei Emelin late in the second period. Cheap Throwback Royals Jerseys. . He returned for the third, but admitted later he took a major whack to the head. "I feel pretty good so, yeah, Im expecting to play," he said. "I got tangled up with Prust there and slid in. "I dont think Emelin saw me and I got a pretty good knee to the head. Now that I saw it, I dont think there was any intention or anything. It was just kind of a play that happens in a game." Emelin and his defence partner Andrei Markov were given a day off as the Canadiens held a short practice at their suburban training centre at the same time the Lightning skated at the Bell Centre. The talk was mostly about how all four Montreal lines have played well in the series, which is a surprise on a team whose first unit carried the attack for much of the season. After Vanek was acquired at the NHL trade deadline, he, Pacioretty and Desharnais produced 20 goals in the last 18 games of the regular season. "Im not surprised," said coach Michel Therrien. "We have to play well as a team defensively and that includes our forwards and our defence. "We have to stick to our structure, stick to the game plan. This is when were at our best offensively. When we start running around, thats when we get in trouble. But a lot of credit goes to the players. They stick to the game plan and they believe in it. And they have a lot of fun to play in that structure because they get results." Montreals only area of concern is special teams. The power play that went 0-for-23 over the final eight regular season games has only one goal in 11 chances in the playoffs. They spent the time leading up to the series working on the power play, but it continues to struggle. "The only thing we need to improve on is the power play," said Vanek. "We got some good chances again, but weve got to start burying our chances. Its something Im sure well address and get better at." The Lightning have two goals on six chances against Montreals penalty killing, which was fourth best in the league in the regular season. So far, the Canadiens have done enough at even strength to beat coach Jon Coopers young Lightning. Now they hope to end it in four games. As teams have always done in that situation, the Canadiens told each other the fourth win in the hardest to get. "The first three were pretty tough, too," said Vanek. "Cliches are cliches. We enjoyed the win. Everyone felt good about it. Todays a new day. Well get back to work and hopefully we can close it out." Coopers message was much the same -- just win the next one. "Im not going to throw out all the cliches and lets win one for the Gipper and all those little kinds of things," he said. "The reality is you cant win a series in one game. "I truly believe theres not much more wrong that can go against us. At some point karmas going to come around and we just need it for one night. All of a sudden you just gotta win one and you win that one and everybodys back on a plane. On a Premier League Wednesday with nine games played simultaneously, spectacular goals and the top five teams each victorious, it was another home loss for Manchester United taking the headlines. Royals Andres Machado Jersey . Whenever United loses, its crisis.  When other top teams slip up, its the quirky nature of the Premier League.  The predictable reaction speaks to the sky-high expectations for a team proven perennial contender and 13 times Premier League champion.  While its premature to suggest United have abdicated their throne, retaining their title this term has become improbable.  Setting the bar lower to Champions League qualification even seems an uphill climb for a team reflecting United only in colours and crest.  The mighty have fallen.  But how far? After Wednesdays 1-0 loss to Everton, Manchester United sits 9th: Uniteds lowest ever position after 14 games.  The home form is most disconcerting.  David Moyes side has already been shut out twice at Old Trafford this campaign.  Their eight home goals for is equal to the likes of West Ham, who have no true striker and one less than last place Sunderland.  In comparison, Manchester City has scored 29 at home in the same number of games.  Thats a Grand Canyon sized difference between supposed rivals on the field.  The gap, incredible considering United finished 11 points ahead of City a season ago. Wednesdays loss is merely salt in the wound.  The Everton away support mocked Moyes throughout.  United support most likely felt like doing the same, if it were not the previous instructions by his predecessor, "your job now is to stand by our new manager." Wariness persists about the new man.  While the players and staff all say the right things, belief amongst even the most ardent supporter wavers.  Patience is preached.  That narrative is difficult to swallow for supporters who have grown accustomed to winning trophies at a club with the bankroll to support ambition. Perhaps Sir Alex saw this coming.  Perhaps he had got everything he could out of this group of players. Perhaps he knew the team needed an overhaul.  And perhaps that was a little bit too much for a 71-year-old manager with nothing to prove to start over and rebuild.   And perhaps banking on ownership to actually use the clubs financial might to address the issues in the side was something Ferguson could no longer stomach. This argument is less about the man in charge, rather than the team on the field.  The goals United would score a year ago are now finding the woodwork.  The challenges are sloppy.  The shape leaves much to desire.  Its striking the team couldnt rise up to the challenge of Everton; a fixture that was always going to be circled on the calendar, no matter where Everton and Manchester United sat in the table.  The fact Moyes former team sat above his current gave added urgency.  The Reds didnt respond.  Yes, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck hit post and crossbar respectively.  But the chances for Everton were as good, or better than what United could muster.  The irony, plain to see, with a United transfer targets injury replacement Bryan Oviedo scoring the match winner.  The Everton midfield, which was plucked of Marouane Fellaini at the transfer window, was dominant throughout, with Fellainis replacements James McCarthy and Gareth Barry keeping the shape United only wished they could have.  And Fellaini, fortunate to have stayed on the field after an ugly challenge, and looking a shell of the influential player he was while wearing blue. "We never felt inferior," remarked a jubilant Everton manager, Roberto Martinez.  A Martinez managed team had never scored a goal at Old Trafford, let alone win.  His Everton team in one try did what Moyes Everton couldnt accomplish in over a decade – win at Old Trafford.   It was a measured, calculated and composed approach by the visitors.  Time after time, they exposed the weakness in Uniteds midfield.  United can still maintain possession of the ball in the middle of the park.  But the east-west ball movement lack cutting edge and fluidity.  The end result is a stale, predictable product. Most noticeably, Uniteds inability to put high pressure on the ball, and subsequent lack of numbers in attack on the counter left United at the mercy of a superior Everton midfield.  Vintage United teams over the last two decades were deadly at forcing mistakes through putting pressure on the ball and forcing teams out of their element. It was always near textbook counter-attacking football.  That was the Manchester United way.  When in possession, Sir Alex Fergusons United would attack in waves.  It would be relentless and it would break you down. This new United sits back.  And when on the ball, there are very few options in support.  Everton were vastly superior at both pressing the ball and attacking in numbers, just as West Brom were in a shock away victory at the Theatre of Dreams earlier this season.  Fluid movement on and off the ball and purposeful possession broke down United.  These were no fluky, lucky away victories.  They were well earned. We should fall short of calling United a bad team.  They are still a good team with a collection of players able to compete.  But they have simply fallen back to the pack. Hanging in and grinding out points is where the team is.  Thats not a bad thing.  Its just not typical United.  Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney have match changing, game winner abilities.  Outside f the two, the squad falls short on top talent.  So system, discipline, and effort need be relied upon.   No matter what happens in January, Moyes number one job is to get his midfield right.  He would likely trade his entire midfield roster for the likes of one of Eden Hazard, Yaya Toure, or Mesut Ozil – all top players for title contending teams.  Likewise for Juan Mata, Oscar Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla – you get the picture.  In the midfield, Manchester United is playing from a deficit. The discourse coming from Old Trafford has to change.  It cannot be about moral victories.  Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward saying United will remain strong financially without winning trophies sends the wrong message.  The expectation is winning, not profit.  The league is becoming clearer: Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea are clear title threats.  Liverpool, Everton, and Spurs are in the second tier.  Is United better than the aforementioned three?  Certainly not based upon form. This is the challenge for United and their new manager.  These may be early days, but its gut-check time.  A suspended Wayne Rooney Saturday doesnt make matters any easier.  The team has responded before.  Will they respond this time around, for this manager? Other Musings - Luis Suarez is on a run for the ages, scoring 13 goals in nine games this season.  The bite seen around the world and the summer of discontent seems to be a distant memory.  But this is Suarez were talking about.  Dependability is not his middle name.  One has to wonder what is his value now? (SportsNetwork. Cardinals Ken Boyer Jersey .com) - For most of 2014-15 the Los Angeles Kings havent looked much like a team that has won two of the last three Stanley Cup titles, The defending champions hope a clash against last springs Western Conference finals combatant can get them back in the win column, as the Kings welcome the Chicago Blackhawks for Wednesdays battle at Staples Center. The Kings outlasted Chicago in seven games last season for the Western Conference title before L.A. beat the New York Rangers in five for its second title since 2012. However, the Cup hangover has hit Los Angeles hard this season and the club enters Wednesdays action three points out of a playoff spot in the West. L.A. entered the All-Star break on a four-game skid and is hoping to pick up its first win tonight since notching a home win over Toronto on Jan. 12. The Kings final tilt before the break was last Wednesdays 4-2 loss at San Jose. Logan Couture had two goals and an assist to lead the Sharks. Dustin Brown scored the only goal of the game for the Kings, who have lost seven of eight. Jonathan Quick gave up three goals on 24 shots. Weve got to do a better job in certain areas, Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr said. You cant afford to give up two power-play goals against and really expect to win too many games, especially on the road. L.A. will take the ice tonight without former All-Star center Mike Richards, who was placed on waivers Monday. Richards, a member of both Kings championship teams, cleared waivers Tuesday and has been assigned to the teams AHL affiliate in Manchester. Richards, who turns 30 in February, has seen his production decline in recent seasons and has just five goals and 15 points in 47 games for Los Angeles in 2014-15. He was an All-Star in two consecutive seasons from 2009-10 with the Philadelphia Flyers and had a career-high 80 points in the 2008-09 season. The veteran forward is owed $23 million over the final four years of his contract and counts for $5.75 million against the salary cap. The waiver move lowered Richards cap hit by $925,000. Despite winning just once during a seven-game homestand earlier this month, the Kings still own a respectable 15-6-6 mark in L.A. this season. The club will begin a five-game road trip this Saturday in Boston. The Blackhawks have won four straight in the regular-season series against L.A. and they notched a 4-1 win at the Staples Center on Nov. 29. Chicago has claimed three straight and seven of the past eight meetings in the City of Angels. Chicago enters tonight tied with St. Louis for second place in the Central Division. The clubs are two points ahead of Winnipeg and five behind first- place Nashville. The Blackhawks won their final two games before the All-Star break. Chicago posted a 6-1 home win over Arizona on Jan. 20 before claiming a shootout win the following night in Pittsburgh. Last Wednesdays 3-2 win over the Penguins marked a positive start to a seven- game road trip for the Blackhawks and pushed their away record this season to 14-8-1. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each scored during the shootout help the Blackhawks down the Pens. Kane and Toews also represented Chicago at All-Star weekend along with defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook and goaltender Corey Crawford. Marian Hossa tallied a goal and an assist, David Rundblad also scored and Crawford made 33 saves for the win. I think we played smart tonight, said Toews. Its a good road win. The Blackhawks will continue their trek by staying in California for a pair of games this weekend. Chicago visits Anaheim on Friday before taking on the Sharks this Saturday. Quick is expected to start tonight for L.A. and is 6-13-1 with a 2.78 goals against average in his career against Chicago. Crawford is 7-3-0 with a 2.56 GAA in 10 lifetime appearances versus the Kings. Cardinals Mike Shannon Jersey .Chanathip Songkrasin opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Kroekrit found the target twice in the 57th and four minutes from fulltime.Vietnam and Malaysia play their second leg on Thursday. Lindros did not lead the tournament in scoring, finishing second to American Doug Weight, and it was the USSRs Pavel Bure on top with 12 goals. But it was Lindross show, as he scored 17 points to spearhead Canadas gold medal victory. Lindros was named the tournaments top forward and his line-mate, Mike Craig, joined him on the all-star team. With 28 total points, they were Canadas dynamic duo. Canada featured another brilliant pair in goal, where Trevor Kidd and Felix Potvin held down the fort. Other than Patrice Brisebois, the defence was a largely anonymous group. But that changed on the tournaments final day when John Slaney became a household name. It was almost a repeat of 1990, with the Soviets leading Canada by a two points heading into the final game. This time, however, Canada would not need any outside help to win. This time, they would have to beat the USSR themselves in order to create a two-way tie for first place. Canada would win gold based on its head-to-head win over the Russians - but they had to win the game first. Like Canada, the Soviets had another great team in 1991. Along with Bure, Sergei Berezin and Vyacheslav Kozlov up front, they were stacked on the blue-line with the likes of Dimitri Yushkevich, Darius Kasparaitis, Sandis Ozolinch and Boris Mirinov. All they needed was a tie to win gold, and they looked like they might get it as the teams were deadlocked at 2-2 late in the final game. But, with time running out, Slaney became the improbable hero when he found the back of the net with a long slapper for a 3-2 victory and another gold medal for Canada.
