LONDON -- Chelsea scored four goals in the second half to thrash 10-man Tottenham 4-0 and provisionally move seven points clear in the Premier League on Saturday. Marquez Valdes-Scantling Super Bowl Jersey . Jose Mourinhos side was unconvincing before halftime but Samuel Etoo sparked a stunning revival by taking advantage of Jan Vertonghens slip and ill-judged back pass to nip in and score in the 56th minute. Etoo was then felled by Younes Kaboul in the area, earning the defender a straight red card, and Eden Hazard converted the 60th-minute penalty. Substitute Demba Ba completed a crushing win with two late goals in the space of 75 seconds. Chelsea has played a game more than second-placed Liverpool and third-placed Arsenal, who are both seven points adrift and not in league action this weekend. Fourth-placed Manchester City is nine points behind with three games in hand. This was meant to be one of Chelseas toughest matches of its run-in and a win -- coming despite a poor first half -- can only strengthen belief inside Stamford Bridge that the title could be theirs in Mourinhos first season back in charge. Chelsea has Arsenal at home and Liverpool away in its final nine matches; otherwise the schedule looks straightforward. And although City is in striking distance, points on the board are what matter at this stage. Chelsea has had the knack this campaign of winning without necessarily playing well and this was another case in point, taking its unbeaten run in the league to 14 games in the process. Spurs had drawn or lost on their previous 26 visits to Stamford Bridge, dating back to February 1990 when Gary Lineker scored the winning goal, but they looked in good shape to end that dreadful record in a first half that they edged. Hazard may have missed an open goal in the fifth minute after rounding goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, but most of the action was at the other end where Nabil Bentaleb dragged a shot wide, Sandro had a superb volley saved and Tottenhams fluid midfield caused all sorts of problems. But the visitors failed to make their dominance count and the inevitable happened at the start of the second half -- Chelsea took full advantage. The first goal can be put down to Vertonghens unfortunate slip, although the Belgium defender compounded his error by trying to hook the ball back to Lloris while scrambling on the ground. Etoo intervened and slotted a low finish into the corner. Etoo, who was only playing because Fernando Torres was injured in the warmup, was then bundled into by Kaboul from behind as he latched onto Hazards square ball. Kaboul was shown a straight red card and Hazard rolled home the penalty. From then on, it was damage limitation for Spurs and they resisted until the final two minutes. Ba tucked home a finish after Sandro made a mess of clearing Oscars cross and then Kyle Walkers strange headed backpass was pounced on by Ba, who finished under Lloris. Bart Starr Super Bowl Jersey . -- Tony Finau won the Stonebrae Classic on Sunday for his first Web. Corey Linsley Super Bowl Jersey . Trailing by a goal after 20 minutes of play, Joe Pavelski responded with three goals and an assist as the Sharks snapped a two-game losing skid with a 5-2 victory over the struggling Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.Lewis Hamilton has admitted Mercedes may not have fixed the fault that has caused his engine to break down twice in the opening four rounds of the season. Ahead of this weekends Spanish GP, Mercedes have described finding a solution to the MGU-H failures which affected Hamiltons car in qualifying in both China and Russia as their highest priority. However, the world champions have been unable to offer Hamilton any guarantees that the problem - described by team boss Toto Wolff as a freak occurrence - will not occur again. The team have explained the issues we have had and the efforts they have made to rectify them, Hamilton told Sky Sports F1. They arent rectified but they are in the process of being rectified. Hopefully this weekend they will be rectified but that might not be the case. Trailing Nico Rosberg by 43 points in the standings, Hamilton has described the deficit as a mountain but insisted he is relishing challenge of trying to catch his team-mate. It is what it is, theres no point being concerned, he said. I have less engines than Nico, so Ive just got to do what l can with what l have. For sure, I have a mountain to climb, but l love a challenge and I am excited about it.Who is under the most pressure this weekend in Spain? The world champion has also vowed he has no concerns about his Mercedes garage crew after the teams decision to swap personnel over the winter coincided with a series of mechanical malfunctions on his car. The issues we have had are nothing to do with the mechanics, said Hamilton. That is not a concern. I have 100 per cent belief in the guys and the team. I am just hoping l have had my share of bad luck. While Hamilton has bore the brunt of Mercedes reliability glitches so far in 2016, Rosberg has reeled off four successive victories to establish a commanding early lead in the Drivers Championship. But, despite his run of wins from the final races of last season now stretching to seven, the German remains unmoved in his belief that nothing is won yet.  Ted Kravitz thinks Mercedes have to sort out their mechanical problems at the Spanish GP if Lewis Hamilton is to have any chance of winning the drivers championship Its not difficult to keep the feet on the ground, you just need to look at reality, he said. Montravius Adams Super Bowl Jersey. And thats my aim, to win Barcelona. Thats the way I like to approach it and its the best approach for me.Rosberg led large parts of the 2014 season before Hamilton eventually overhauled him, but his championship advantage never exceeded 29 points. This time his lead is nearly the equivalent of two race victories but Rosberg, runner-up to Hamilton in each of the last two years, denied suggestions 2016 now presented him with an opportunity of a lifetime to become world champion. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The large icepack on LeBron James right shoulder said it all. Attempting 25 shots in a game will do that, the four-time MVP said. James overcame a mid-game shooting slump to score 34 points and help the Miami Heat beat the Charlotte Bobcats for the 15th straight time, 104-96 in overtime Saturday night. "The game presented itself for me to be aggressive and I was able to shoot a lot. It felt, well... thats why Im icing my shoulder now," James said with a laugh. James wasnt laughing much in the second quarter. After hitting his first five shots from the field, James missed his next nine shots. But he turned that around late in the second half, hitting 8 of 11 shots from the field to close the game, including two driving layups in overtime. "I came out shooting the ball extremely well and then I just hit a cold streak," James said. "My teammates kept confidence in me and I was able to get it going again." Chris Bosh added 25 points and seven rebounds for Miami. It was a costly loss for the Bobcats as starting point guard Kemba Walker sprained his left ankle midway through the third quarter when he stepped on Chris Boshs foot. He did not return. Walker left the locker room on crutches and with a boot on his left ankle. X-rays were negative, but coach Steve Clifford said Walker will have an MRI on Sunday to determine the extent of the damage. "Hes going to be out a while," Clifford said. Ironically, Al Jefferson missed the first two regular season games after he stepped on Boshs foot in the preseason and turned his ankle. Without their floor general, the Bobcats didnt stand much of a chance against the Heat. Jefferson had 22 points to lead the Bobcats, who were playing their fourth game in five nights. Jefferson had averaged 29.6 points over the previous three games, but the Heat clamped down on him in the second half and the Bobcats went cold from the field. "If he can catch it whenever he wants to, there is not much you can do," Bosh said. "We had traps and were able to give him different looks and I think that changed his timing up a little bit and played to our advantage." The Heat never trailed in overtime. James two free throws gave Miami a 98-95 advantage. After Mario Chalmers blocked Jeffersons put-back try froom behind, James then drove to the basket and scored on the right side to push the lead to five with 1:22 left in overtime. Wholesale Jerseys 2022. He tried the left side on the next possession against Anthony Tolliver and succeed with a driving left-handed layup with 36 seconds remaining to push the lead to six. Josh McRoberts and Tolliver each had costly turnovers in overtime for the Bobcats, who have lost 10 of their last 13. The Bobcats led most of the game but the Heat tied the score at 88 when James knocked down a jumper with 5 minutes left in regulation. But the teams only scored two points apiece in the final 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. Charlottes Ramon Sessions air-balled a 17-footer as the shot clock expired and James 18-footer rimmed out at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime. "I saw some grit," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Our guys were not happy at halftime and wanted to take a lot more pride in our defence and not just be talk but to walk the talk. They did a good job. They had us moving around and were moving the ball and attacking us and getting great looks. The second half there was more of a concentration -- not only the effort but a discipline " Ray Allen started in place of Dwayne Wade, who rested his knee after scoring eight points in the Heats win Friday night at Philadelphia. Allen got the Heat started strong with a reverse layup and a drive down the lane to build an early 9-2 lead and finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Greg Oden played in his second game since returning from a long layoff and looked plenty rusty with one point and three fouls in seven minutes. Despite the loss, Clifford said he felt good about his teams effort. "We played a good game," Clifford said. "I feel like were getting back to fighting, defending and staying in games. Hopefully that will help us going forward." ALLEN PARK, Mich. Khalen Saunders Super Bowl Jersey . -- Jim Schwartz was hired to turn around the Detroit Lions and he did it for three seasons. He failed to keep the Lions going in the right direction the next two years -- and it cost him his job. The Lions fired Schwartz on Monday, one day after their late-season slide ended with a loss at Minnesota. He had two years and nearly $12 million left on his contract. Schwartz informed the players of the decision during a team meeting. "I feel awful for him," Lions centre Dominic Raiola said. "I feel like we let him down." Team President Tom Lewand said the search has begun for what he thinks is one of the most -- if not the most -- attractive opportunities for a head coach in the NFL. "I can verify that by the number of calls we have already gotten since the announcement was made," Lewand said. "Going through a thorough process is extremely important. That doesnt necessarily it has to be a long process." San Diego Chargers offensive co-ordinator Ken Whisenhunt is among the potential candidates. Whisenhunt led the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl during a six-year run as their coach and Lions general manager Martin Mayhew is a former Washington Redskins teammate. The Lions also let offensive co-ordinator Scott Linehan and wide receivers coach Tim Lappano seek other jobs, saying the rest of the staff is under contract, including some assistants for the 2014 season. Detroit flopped to a 7-9 record this year after a 6-3 record start put the franchise in a position to win a division title for the first time since 1993. "That is the reason we are sitting here having this conversation," Lewand said. Schwartz was 29-51 over five seasons, including a 10-6 mark in 2011 that lifted the Lions to their only post-season appearance this century. The former Tennessee Titans defensive co-ordinator was hired in 2009 when Detroit was coming off the NFLs first 0-16 season. "Jim inherited a very tough job," Mayhew acknowledged. Schwartz led the Lions to two wins in his first year, six the next and to double digits in victories two years ago for the first time since 1995 to help them end an 11-year post-season drought. The Lions lost their last eight games last year after a .500 start. They collapsed again this season with four straight losses and six in a seven-game stretch -- blowing fourth-quarter leads in each setback -- after they took control of the NFC North race. Detroit and the 2000 San Diego Chargers are the only NFL teams since 1940 to lose fourth-quarter leads in seven games in a season, according to STATS. "From where we were in 2008 to where we are now its a big difference," quarterback Matthew Stafford said. "We owe a lot of that to him. Hes a really smart guy and helped us get to where we are. Obviously, we didnt win as many games as we needed to or as we should have this year." The Lions took on the personality of their demonstrative and emotionally charged coach and that wasnt always good news for them. When Detroit ran the ball instead of having turnover-prone Stafford throw late in regulation of its 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Giants in Week 16, the crowd reacted with a loud chorus of boos. Schwartz responded by looking away from the field and screaming something toward the stands. Schwartz negated a video review and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct by angrily throwing a challenge flag last season when Houstons Justin Forsett scored after two Lions tackled him, leading to a defeat during an eight-game, season-ending slide. The previous year, Schwartz had a heated exchange with San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh and had to be separated following their postgame handshake. "The stuff that happened with Harbaugh just was an incident," Detroit guard Rob Sims said. "The stuff with the fans just was an incident. Thats not an everyday occurrence." Schwartz was 12-32 in games in November or later for a .273 winning percentage that was the worst for a coach in five-plus straight seasons with a team since Denvers Lou Saban won one-quarter of those late-season games from 1967-1971, according to STATS. His .363 winning percentage overall with the Lions is the worst by an NFL coach in his first five full seasons since John McKay won fewer than 30 per cent of his games with the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1976-1980. The Lions gave Schwartz an extension entering the 2012 season, when he had one year left on his four-deal worth about $11 million. The second contract made him the longest-tenured coach the franchise has had since Wayne Fontes led the Lions from 1988-96. Bobby Ross, Gary Moeller, Marty Mornhinweg, Steve Mariucci, Dick Jauron -- on an interim basis -- and Rod Marinelli all had a chance to lead a franchise with only one playoff victory since winning the 1957 NFL title before Schwartz got a shot to be a head coach for the first time at any level. The Lions would like to hire someone, who runs a 4-3 defence and has head coaching experience, but theyre not going to overlook assistants who fit the profile theyre looking for. "The goal isnt to hire the biggest name or the most popular candidate and win the next press conference," Lewand said. "Its to win football games in 2014 and to win a championship." Demarcus Robinson Super Bowl Jersey . He was 40. The Middlesex paceman struggled at times during the series with Sri Lanka but Harmison has no doubt that he can return to top form in the near future.  Indeed, Harmison believes that Finn would benefit from having the chance to bowl longer spells and, with James Anderson ruled out of the opening Test, he may be given that chance on his home ground. Theres a lot been made of Steve Finn and, as somebody who was very similar, I felt sorry for him a little bit, Harmison told Sky Sports.[Stuart] Broad and Anderson had done so well against Sri Lanka that he was coming on after these two gems had bowled, he was coming back from injury and he never really got the chance to have a long bowl.He seems to be somebody who needs a good, long bowl consistently and when youve got Broad and Anderson blowing teams away, to get that on the international stage is harder.Hell have wanted to bowl a bit better than he did but I wouldnt be looking too much into it. I thought he did okay. No team has every single player play well all the time because if you did teams would be bowled out for 20 and youd go out and bat and get 800!Steve Finn will get better and better and better, hes a big player on the big stage for England and he needs to be backed and allowed to bowl. Simple as that, let him bowl and let him play. Finn should be given time to rediscover his form, according to Harmison One issue that was picked up on during the series against Sri Lanka was that, particularly in the first two Tests, Finns pace was significantly lower than has become expected from him.Harmison argues that Finn should be given the time to regain his form and confidence but says it is not as simple as just running in and trying to bowl quickly.People look too much into it, I think theyre wrong to try and put pressure on the kid, added the 2005 Ashes winner.Hes a big part of England being the team that they want to be - he has to be. Its easy for people to say - and I had it throughout my career - just go up and bowl fast, thats easier said than done, especially when yooure a little bit low on confidence and youre not sure exactly what the ball is doing. Dorian ODaniel Super Bowl Jersey. Hes got to find a way to get into a spell, get through a spell, into his next spell, get through a day and steadily build his confidence up that way. Chris Woakes has impressed Simon Jones since his recall Another member of Englands 2005 Ashes-winning bowling attack, Simon Jones, has been impressed by Woakes and the improvements he has made to his game. The thing that shocked me most about Chris Woakes was that he was the quickest of the lot, said Jones. He was bowling late 80s most of the time, I loved the lines he bowled, he bowled attacking lines, he bowled with discipline and with good rhythm and from where he was, he is looking a very, very good cricketer.Like so many observers, the Welshman has thoroughly enjoyed watching the England bowling attack in recent times and feels that there are few to match it in world cricket. There are a few good attacks around the world, South Africa have a very good attack but England have got to be up there, added Jones.Theyre bowling as a unit, back in 05 we did the same thing. They have boys for different roles and I think thats key. You need variety in the attack and thats what theyve got at the moment.Jimmy and Stuart Broad have been exceptional over the years and they have these young lads coming through which is really exciting for England and the future bodes well.Steve Harmison and Simon Jones were speaking at a PCA England Masters event at Bramhall Cricket Club to help raise money for the 1000 Hearts for Harry charity. CHICAGO -- Fans cheered just about every time Derrick Rose touched the ball. Duane Starks Jersey . They showered him with "MVP! MVP!" chants. In many ways, it seemed like hed never been gone. Rose scored 22 points in his long-awaited return to the United Center court to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 96-81 preseason victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. The way Rose was dominating, it was hard to believe nearly 18 months had passed since he suited up for a game in this arena. The explosiveness was back after he spent last season recovering from knee surgery, and when he wasnt finishing drives, the former MVP was hitting his free throws. As for any emotions? Rose downplayed them. "Not at all," he said. "I think Im past that, jitters and everything. For me, its just going out there and trying to compete and try to do better as a teammate and as a leader." He got a thunderous ovation during the pregame introductions and proceeded to put on a show, scoring 18 in the first half. He had the crowd chanting "MVP! MVP!" at the end of the second quarter after he froze Peyton Siva with a wicked crossover and flipped the ball in off the glass over Andre Drummond as he crashed to the floor. Rose buried the free throw to complete the three-point play. Rose hit 6 of 9 shots and was 9 for 10 on free throws over 22 minutes after missing the previous game against Washington in Rio de Janeiro because of soreness in his surgically repaired left knee. "He didnt look like he lost a step to me," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. "He was as quick as hes ever been." Carlos Boozer added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Joakim Noah had two points and eight rebounds after missing the first three preseason games because of a strained right groin. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led Detroit with 18 points, but this night was all about Rose. "We are starting to see him find his rhythm," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "The moves, the explosion, the power, the change in directions ... thats been there all along. Now, he has better balance and (is) playing in rhythm." Rose hadnt played at the United Center since April 28, 2012, when the Bulls worst nightmare unfolded near the end of a playoff-opening victory over Philadelphia. There was Rose coming to a jump stop and crumbling to the floor with about 1:20 left in a game that was out of reach, a torn anterior cruciate ligament ending his season and sending top-seeded Chicago to a first-round exit. His recovery became a running soap opera last season, and it only escalated after he returned to practice in midseason. Should he return? Should he sit out the season? Rose and the Bulls never publicly ruled out a return, so the debate raged on. His image took a hit in some corners as the Bulls clawed their way through injuries and illnesses on the way to 45 wins and a second-round playoff exit. None of that seemed to matter on Wednesday. When the PA announcer bellowed before the game, "From Chicago! No. 1, Derrick Rose!" a deafening roar echoed through the arena. There was a loud cheer when Rose caught an outlet pass from Boozer after a miss by Detroits Drummond on the games first shot, and they were screaming again moments later when Rose scored off a feed from Noah. He added a neat layup, pumping in midair and drawing a few "oohs" and "ahs" from the crowd," and scored eight points before heading to the sideline with 3:59 left in the first quarter. It was a promising start punctuated by that brilliant move at the end of the half. It still remains to be seen how the knee will hold up once the season starts and how hell fare against stiffer competition, such as Miami in the opener. But the signs are good. "I was just trying to really be aggressive," Rose said when asked about the play at the end of the half. "Thats the way I normally play. (If thats a sign) for whats to come, I hope so. For me, I was just trying to do anything to get to the basket." Elvis Grbac Jersey . Joining him in this years class were Switzerlands Patrick Huerlimann and Norways Eigil Ramsfjell. The announcement was made at the world mens curling championship at Capital Indoor Stadium in China. Seth Roberts Jersey . -- Chris Tillman paid no attention to the Baltimore bullpen as it started to stir in the ninth inning. PHILADELPHIA -- Jaromir Jagr isnt acting his age, and the New Jersey Devils are thrilled about it. Jagr scored the winning goal to snap a third-period tie and lead the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. It was the 21st goal of the season and sixth game-winning tally for Jagr, who is the NHLs career leader with 124. It also marked the 702nd career goal for the 42-year-old forward, who earlier this season became the seventh player to score 700 NHL goals. Jagr, in his 20th NHL season, is enjoying the opportunity the Devils have provided him. "Without the fun at my age, theres no chance you can play," Jagr said. "You have to grab the opportunity. I got a chance to play and now its up to me what kind of advantage I take of it." While outsiders might be surprised by Jagrs success, those close to him arent. "Hes done that all year for us," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "Nothing surprises me about him. When youre around him, thats why hes one of the best of all time." Travis Zajac had the other goal for New Jersey (29-24-13), which won for the fifth time in seven games to move within two points of the third-place Flyers in the tightly bunched Metropolitan Division. Adam Henrique was held in check by the Flyers, and his six-game goal streak was snapped. Henrique had nine goals and two assists during that run. Nicklas Grossman scored for the Flyers (33-25-7), who are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. "Well, its a tough loss," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "Obviously, our team battled hard; it was a good game, I thought we competed hard. We didnt score enough goals." Philadelphia had a potential tying goal by Scott Hartnell disallowed by officials with 40.1 seconds remaining because it was determined that Hartnell pushed goalie Martin Brodeur into the net. "Not saying he did it on purpose, but his momentum threw him into me," Brodeur said. "It really prevented me. It didnt warrant a penalty. I think its the right call." Brodeur won for the fourth straight time. Like Jagr, the 41-year-old Brodeeur didnt show his age. DeAnthony Thomas Jersey. . "He was in a zone," Jagr said. "Its Marty Brodeur, what do you want me to say? Either youve got it or you dont, and hes got it." Brodeur also praised Jagr for his winning goal. "You cant teach that," he said of Jagrs skill level. "These are things that he does that not many players are able to have, and it comes natural to him." Marek Zidlicky set up Jagr for the decisive tally with a backhanded pass from behind the net. Jagr lifted it off goalie Steve Mason and just inside the near post from close range to put New Jersey ahead 2-1 with 12:18 left. "My dad always told me, You have to keep moving in the offensive zone," said Jagr, who also had an assist. "Thats what we did, and something is always opening up. Lucky break, but since we were skating a lot it creates chances." Jagr, a former Flyers player, is no stranger to success against Philadelphia. He raised his career total to 103 points in 90 career games versus the Flyers. "He was able to kind of just chip it and it snuck through there," Mason said. "Hes a big body, strong player when he has the puck on his stick and is able to protect it." Zajac opened the scoring 7:56 in when he beat Mason top shelf from a difficult angle after getting the Flyers goalie to sprawl on the ice following a deke in front. It was Zajacs 12th goal this season. Grossmann tied it 47 seconds into the second period with a rare soft goal allowed by Brodeur. Grossmann whirled and wristed a shot from the side boards near the Flyers bench. Brodeur misplayed the puck, and it went between his legs. Brodeur was solid otherwise, making 30 saves to improve to 50-31-10 against Philadelphia. Mason fell to 0-4 against the Devils. NOTES: Grossmann last scored on Feb. 20 of last season. ... TORONTO - Former title contender Chael Sonnen has been dumped from his UFC broadcasting duties after failing a second drug test as a fighter. Troy Smith Jersey . The outspoken 37-year-old announced his retirement from the cage on June 11 after the first positive test, which resulted in his removal from a proposed UFC 175 bout against Vitor Belfort. Sonnen, who fought unsuccessfully for both the UFC light-heavyweight (twice) and middleweight titles during a 9-8 UFC career, lost his TV analyst gig after the second positive drug test. "The UFC and Fox Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen," a joint statement released Monday said. "This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June. Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May." Sonnen previously had a therapeutic-use exemption for testosterone replacement therapy, which the Nevada Commission banned earlier this year. Sonnen, after the first positive test result, said on the "UFC Tonight" show he co-hosted on Fox Sports 1 that the medical condition that necessitated his use of TRT had prompted him to turn to other medications in the transition from TRT. Wendell Tyler Jersey . This could be shaping up as one of those weeks at the Wells Fargo Championship. On a Quail Hollow course that lets the Argentine hit driver on just about every hole, two exquisite short-game shots late in the second round carried Cabrera to a 3-under 69 on Friday and a share of the lead with Martin Flores going into the weekend. It was the first time Cabrera had at least a share of the 36-hole lead on the PGA Tour since the 2007 U.S. Open at Oakmont. The last time he was part of the lead after any round was in the 2013 Masters. With one of the most powerful and reliable swings in golf, the mystery about the 44-year-old Argentine is that his only two on the PGA Tour are majors -- Oakmont for the U.S. Open, and Augusta National when he won the Masters in a playoff in 2009. "Im of course happy to be in position to win this tournament, but every time I go out and play, Im hoping to win," Cabrera said. "Its difficult to know exactly when youre going to play well. I dont think anybody knows when theyre going to play well." Flores couldnt ask for a better start, and his finish wasnt too bad, either. Flores began his second round birdie-eagle when he holed out with a wedge from 105 yards in the 11th fairway. He added a pair of birdies late in his round for a 68. They were at 9-under 135, one shot ahead of Justin Rose, who had a 67. Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy went the other direction. Mickelson, one shot out of the lead to start the second round and perfect conditions ahead of him, seemed to miss every putt that he made on Thursday. He had a 75 and fell seven shots out of the lead. "I cant believe the difference in putting from yesterday to today," Mickelson said. "Yesterday, I saw every ball go in the hole. And today I couldnt get them to fall and was three-putting, which is funny because the greens today were so perfect. ... I struggled today. I dont have any great reason. It didnt feel far off. "I just struggled getting the ball in the hole." So did McIlroy, starting with a three-putt from 18 feet on the second hole. He drove behind a tree on the third hole and hit into a bush on the fourth hole, both times taking a penalty drop and making double bogey. He wound up with a 76 and made the cut on the number at 1-over 145. McIlroy missed five putts from 6 feet oor closer. Tarvarius Moore Jersey. "I just didnt have my game today," McIlroy said. "Off the tee it was good. I didnt get the ball close enough. My putting didnt feel as comfortable as it did yesterday." The 16th hole sized up his day. McIlroy blasted a tee shot beyond the crest of the hill, a 375-yard drive that left him a simple wedge to the green. He wound up making bogey when he missed from just inside 4 feet. The biggest turnaround in the other direction belonged to Brendon de Jonge, who grew up in Zimbabwe and now lives in Charlotte. He opened with an 80, and followed that by tying the course record at Quail Hollow with a 62. Now hes tied with Mickelson. "Strange game," de Jonge said. The leaderboard was filled with players trying to win for the first time. Flores is in his fourth full season on the PGA Tour and has never finished in the top three. Shawn Stefani had a 68 and was two shots behind, while Kevin Kisner had a 66 and was three back. Mike Weir is the top Canadian in the field after the second round. The Brights Grove, Ont., native is tied for 39th, while David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., is in a tie for 47th. And there are plenty of major champions who havent been heard from much over the last few years. Martin Kaymer (2010 PGA Championship) had his second straight round of 69. Stewart Cink (2009 British Open) salvaged bogey from the water on the 17th and finished with a birdie for a 70. They were in the group at 6-under 138. Geoff Ogilvy (2006 U.S. Open) had seven birdies in his round of 67 and was four shots behind. Leading the way was Cabrera, who only seems to win majors. He made his move late with four birdies, and the last two were superb. Cabrera hit 8-iron over the lip of a fairway bunker on the par-5 seventh hole, but left himself 40 yards from a front pin. He played a pitch-and-run to about 5 feet behind the hole for a birdie to tie for the lead. "The chip was more complicated," he said. "I needed to decide if I wanted to bring it up or keep it low and let it bump, so I ended up doing that. It was a great shot." Then, he judged perfectly with a flop shot out of the rough from in front of the short par-4 eighth hole, and made the 3-foot putt for birdie to take the lead. He drove into the rough on the ninth, clipped the top of a tree and sent his ball into a bunker and failed to save par. ' ' '
WASHINGTON -- James Bell scored 16 points, and No. Alfred Malone Jersey Store . 9 Villanova prevailed in a messy, foul-plagued game of stops and starts Monday night for a 65-60 victory over Georgetown, the Hoyas fifth straight loss. Daniel Ochefu added 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting for the Wildcats (18-2, 7-1 Big East), who forced 18 turnovers while committing 16. Villanova made 22 of 28 free throws and moved into a tie with first-place Creighton atop the Big East. Markel Starks scored 20 points for the short-handed Hoyas (11-9, 3-6), whose roster underwent two more changes before the game. Georgetown has its longest losing streak since 2011 and has dropped three straight at home for the first time since 2009. The game included 34 turnovers, 41 field goals and 39 fouls. At least it was competitive: The biggest lead was eight points -- and thats only because Georgetown scored the first eight points of the game. After topping off at No. 4 in the Top 25, Villanova has had all it can handle in its last three games. No opponent shot 50 per cent or better against the Wildcats in their first 17 games, but they allowed Creighton to shoot 57 per cent in a loss and Marquette to hit 50 per cent in an overtime win. Georgetown was at 55 per cent at halftime, but the Hoyas went cold late and finished at 44 per cent. Georgetown fell short again on a day of more ups and downs with player moves. Jabril Trawick returned after missing five games with a broken jaw and played 12 minutes. The Hoyas learned shortly before tipoff that senior centre Moses Ayegba had to sit out due to a one-game NCAA suspension. Ayegbas suspension looked like a bureaucratic mess, even by NCAA standards. It was related to the nine-game suspension he received as a freshman for violating pre-enrolment rules, an infraction that the Hoyas have said was connected to a plane ticket that brought him from Nigeria to the United States years ago -- before Georgetown even started recruiting him. The Hoyas are playing without centre Joshua Smith, who was recently ruled out for the rest of the season due to academic issues. Bradley Hayes, who had played 13 minutes all season, got some crucial playing time in both halves. Villanova led 35-30 at halftime. The Hoyas game-opening 8-0 run was answered immediately by a 9-0 spurt by the Wildcats. Consecutive three-pointers by Villanovas Ryan Arcidiacono created the closest thing to momentum over the first 20 minutes. Starks drove baseline to tie the game at 35, and he gave the Hoyas their first lead of the second half, 41-39, with two free throws with 14:42 to play. From there, it was back-and-forth. Georgetowns Aaron Bowen saluted the crowd after a three-pointer that tied the game at 46, while Ochefu stretched every bit of his frame to make a layup that gave the Wildcats a 61-56 lead. Starks floater cut the deficit to 61-58 with 2:08 to play, but he was called for an offensive foul after making a pass under the basket with 35 seconds remaining. Villanova then made a series of free throws to hold on for the win. Larry Jordan Jersey Store . Van Slyke drove in a career-high four runs with two homers off struggling left-hander Tony Cingrani, and the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled away to a 6-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night, a rare comfortable win in their pitching-dominated series. Ken Panfil Jersey Store . Mickelson shot a 2-under 70 after opening with a 77 -- his worst score of the season -- on TPC San Antonios AT&T Oaks Course. Lefty was 11 strokes behind leader Steven Bowditch, the Australian who had a 67 to reach 8-under 136.HAMILTON, Ont. -- Michael Bournival scored twice to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals in American Hockey League action on Friday. Greg Pateryn and Nick Tarnasky also scored for the Bulldogs (28-30-5). Dustin Tokarski made 28 saves. Michael Liambas and Taylor Beck had goals for the Admirals (29-21-12). Marek Mazanac stopped 22 shots in a losing effort. The Bulldogs enjoyed a dream start to Fridays game, snapping their 0-for-20 streak on the power play within the first five minutes. With Patrick Cehlin serving a minor penalty for hooking, Hamilton cycled the puck to the blue-line, where Nathan Beaulieu fired a high slap shot wide of the net. The puck took a hard bounce off the end boards and came to Bournival in the low slot, and he easily fired a wrist shot inside the near post at 5:23 of the first with Mazanac scrambling to regain position. The Bulldogs used another man advantage to double their lead at 8:05. Martin St. Pierre moved the puck to Pateryn at the right point, and the defenceman let go a rising wrist shot that moved through a screen and beat Mazanac over the far shoulder. The speed of Bournival ppaid dividends early in the second, as the winger drew a hook and was awarded a penalty shot at 8:09. DeShawn Williams Jersey Store. . He made the most of the opportunity, skating in quickly from the right wing and firing a low, heavy wrist shot that clipped Mazanacs far post on its way in. Milwaukee cut into its deficit through a well-worked passing play, as Mathieu Tousignant found Liambas with a centring pass from behind the goal line, and he snapped a one-time shot high and over the far shoulder of Tokarski at 12:02. But the Bulldogs struck back just over a minute later to restore their three-goal lead. After gathering a pass from Pateryn in the low slot, Tarnasky turned, fought off a defender and slid the puck through the legs of Mazanac at 13:46 of the second period. Two penalties at the same stoppage of play gave the Admirals a full two minutes to work with a 5-on-3 advantage, but they needed only seconds to score. Taylor Beck gathered the puck at the right wing and fired a hard wrist shot off Tokarskis near post and into the net at 14:53, seven seconds into the penalty. Hamilton was 2 for 7 on the power play, while Milwaukee was 1 for 6. ' ' '
ATLANTA -- Portland coach Terry Stotts and his staff were having an informal meeting in the hallway outside their locker room when LaMarcus Aldridge returned from a postgame TV interview. Joe Montana Super Bowl Jersey . The assistants greeted Aldridge with compliments and high fives. Stotts had only one word for his high-scoring forward: "Thanks." Aldridge had 25 points and 16 rebounds in his return after missing seven games with a lower back contusion, and the Trail Blazers beat the Atlanta Hawks 100-85 on Thursday night to end a three-game losing streak. "It felt good to be back," Aldridge said. "I didnt feel 100 per cent but I did what I could do and luckily I made shots." Damian Lillard added 21 points for the Trail Blazers, who had lost seven of 10 and were in danger of falling out of the fifth spot in the Western Conference playoff standings. Lillard said Aldridge, who posted his team-leading 37th double-double of the season, made the difference. "Were a whole different team with him," Lillard said. "Hes our best player. He brings balance to our team. We had an inside presence and we were able to play inside-out, like we have all year. I just think with him out there we just got more quality shots. "Having him back allows everybody to fall into place. The game just comes easier for everybody." Aldridge said the win was "very important, just for our mental psyche, our confidence ... the standings." The Hawks have lost five straight. They lead the Knicks by only 1 1/2 games in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Jeff Teague, who was scoreless in Wednesday nights loss at Minnesota, led the Hawks with 22 points. Lou Williams had 16 points, including 13 in the final period when Atlanta closed the deficit to six points. Atlantas Kyle Korver missed his fifth straight game because of back spasms and centre Pero Antic sat out after he twisted his right ankle at Minnesota. The Trail Blazers led 53-37 at halftime. The Hawks narrowly avoided their season low for points in the opening half. Atlanta opened the second half with a 15-5 run, capped by DeMarre Carrolls 3-pointer, to trim the lead to 58-52. Williams had eight points in Atlantas 10-0 run that again cut Portlands lead to six points at 80-74. A three-point play by Aldridge pushed the lead back to double digits at 87-76. Korver, the 3-point specialist, has not played since March 18, when Atlanta beat Toronto for its fifth straight win. The Hawks have not won since losing Korver. Its only the latest in a string of ugly losing streaks for Atlanta the last two months. Atlanta has lost 19 of 25 and had streaks of eight and six straight losses in that span before the latest slump. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said "there were stretches where we really competed" against the Trail Blazers. "We cut some leads and got it to six at one point," Budenholzer said. "The whole group, in trying times and trying circumstances, has given a lot. Jeff Teagues energy throughout the game allowed us to be close. Were finding ourselves. We need to be disciplined and focused. In those stretches where were not, it can hurt us and it can bite us." Portland closed each of the first three periods with 3-pointers -- by Mo Williams, Wesley Matthews and Lillard. Officials needed a review to confirm there was time remaining in the first half when Matthews launched his long 3. Nicolas Batum had 12 points for Portland and Robin Lopez and Matthews each had 11. Mo Williams had 11 assists and eight points. NOTES: The Trail Blazers, who beat Atlanta 102-78 in Portland on March 5, won their first season series over the Hawks since the 2007-08 season. ... Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson attended the game. ... Elton Brand had 11 points and 12 rebounds as the fill-in starter for Antic... The Hawks season low for first-half points was 34 against San Antonio on Jan. 24. ... The Hawks are 10-20 against the Western Conference. Joe Staley Super Bowl Jersey . The Wildcats, who fell to Connecticut in the title game after reaching the Final Four as a No. 8 seed, received 52 of a possible 65 first-place votes and 1,604 points to comfortably outdistance Arizona for the top spot. Kentucky did lose standouts Julius Randle and James Young to the NBA, but returns a number of key contributors from last seasons squad in sophomore twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison, juniors Alex Poythress and Willie Cauley- Stein as well as center Dakari Johnson and forward Marcus Lee. The Wildcats are a preseason No. 1 by the AP for the second straight year and fourth time in the history of the storied program. Arizona earned five first-place votes and 1,518 points to hold off Wisconsin for second in the rankings. The Badgers, who downed Arizona in last yyears West Regional final, were listed first on eight ballots while garnering 1,483 points. Dee Ford Super Bowl Jersey. The remainder of the top 10 features four teams from the ACC, with Duke coming at No. 4 and rival North Carolina two spots back of the Blue Devils and one behind Kansas in sixth. Conference newcomer Louisville is eighth, one place in back of 2014 Final Four participant Florida, and Virginia ninth with Texas rounding out the top 10. OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry received the NBAs yearlong community assist award, spoke passionately about his charitable works, then dished out another assist to his former coach. In his first extended public comments since Mark Jackson was fired, Curry said Thursday that he voiced his support for the coach but the team "made a decision otherwise." He also said the "semi-quick hire" of Steve Kerr was "kind of a shock" to most of his teammates. "Theres no sugarcoating it -- it was a weird, expedited situation that we didnt see coming," Curry said. "And guys are human. You have to be able to adjust to it and have some time to respond. Thats kind of what happened. I think well be fine once we have a clear picture of whats going on next year." Curry had been the strongest supporter of Jackson before the Warriors dismissed the coach May 6 after a 51-win season and back-to-back playoff appearances. Golden State agreed to a five-year, $25 million deal with Kerr on May 14 and introduced him at a news conference in Oakland on May 20. Even with owner Joe Lacob and general manager Bob Myers going against Currys request, the All-Star point guard insists he still believes in the franchises commitment to winning. "One thing I can say about this organization, they want to win," Curry said. "Each decision is geared toward winning. Thats something that flies well with a lot of players -- that theyre going to try to put us in the best position to win. Obviously, I had a certain opinion of Coach Jackson that they made a decision otherwise, and I heard the reasons, but I wont dwell on it. "As long as were focused on winning and taking advantage of the roster we have and the opportunity we have with this window to try to continue to get better, Im just looking forward to next year and getting back to making that happen," Curry said. "I havent lost faith in that at all. As much as I supported Coach Jackson and loved everything about playing for him, I think theyree about winning. Cheap Jerseys. " Curry said he has spoken to Kerr three or four times by phone already. He said the conversations have been more informal than any basketball strategy, and hes looking forward to in-person meetings after Kerr finishes his job as a broadcast analyst for TNT in the Western Conference finals. Curry said his support of Jackson stems from their bond off the court and his memories of the organization before the coach arrived: a lot of losses -- and two ankle surgeries -- under Don Nelson and Keith Smart. "He was a sign of stability for me," Curry said. "I had three coaches in three years, and he embodies what I know is good around here with the Warriors -- winning and that kind of feel. It was a lot different in my first few years." But Curry said he will adjust, learn Kerrs style and play just as hard for him as he did for Jackson. And he has no doubt his teammates will, too. "At the end of the day, all of the guys in the locker room are trying to win," Curry said. "I know Steve Kerr has that mentality and that mission as well. Those two things will align, and well be fine." Earlier, Curry was awarded the NBAs 2013-14 Kia Community Assist Seasonlong Award in front of a crowd on Golden States practice floor that included many of the individuals and groups he impacted. Currys charity of choice, ThanksUSA, will receive $25,000 from the NBA and Kia Motors. ThanksUSA provides college, technical and vocational school scholarships for children and spouses of active-duty military personnel. Curry has served as a spokesman for the charity since 2010. Currys other charitable works included distributing 38,000 bed nets in Tanzania last summer with the "Nothing But Nets" campaign. He also helped raise money for the fight against malaria in Africa by donating three bed nets for every 3-pointer he made. Curry called the award a "huge honour" and a team effort. He thanked his family, agents, members of the Warriors, the NBA, and several organizations for partnering with him. ' ' '
CHICAGO -- Henderson Alvarezs scoreless streak came to an end, and the Miami Marlins didnt care one bit. Kevan Barlow Jersey . They were just happy to hear the talented right-hander should be able to make his next start after a scary play at first base. Alvarez injured his left hip in the sixth, but Miami made the most of a wild afternoon for Pedro Strop in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday that averted a three-game series sweep. The Marlins trailed 3-2 before they pushed across two runs in the eighth. They loaded the bases with one out on a walk, a hit by pitch and a single from Casey McGehee. Christian Yelich then scored on Garrett Jones sacrifice fly and Giancarlo Stanton came home on a wild pitch from Strop (0-3). Steve Cishek then struck out two in a scoreless ninth that gave him 14 saves in 15 tries. The Cubs got six scoreless innings from Jake Arrieta, but came up just short in a bid for their first six-game winning streak since a seven-game run in 2011. "I think these guys should keep their heads up," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said. "Theyre very disappointed right now because we felt like we were on the cusp of being able to have a perfect homestand." Mike Dunn (5-3) got two outs for the win, but that was secondary for Miami after Alvarez went down. He began the day with a streak of 21 scoreless innings and is regarded as the Marlins best pitcher after Jose Fernandez was shelved by a season-ending elbow surgery. With one out in the sixth inning of a scoreless tie, Luis Valbuena grounded to Jones at first. Alvarez hustled over to cover the bag, but Jones toss was high. The pitcher reached to tap the base with his right foot but missed and landed awkwardly, straining his left hip. "He seems to be OK," manager Mike Redmond said. "Hes got enough time in between starts. He should be fine. Obviously well know better tomorrow or the next couple of days." After Miamis training staff and Redmond came out to see him, Alvarez threw one warm-up pitch to see if he could continue but quickly left the mound. He was charged with two runs, one earned, and seven hits. "At first I felt like I fell (and) I banged myself on ground. I just continued on, I got up, I felt I could continue to pitch," Alvarez said through a translator. "I went out there, I did what I could to pitch. At the end of the day it was a decision by the manager." Nate Schierholtz then greeted Dan Jennings with a two-run triple down the right-field line that gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead. Alvarez is considered day to day, a relief for the surprising Marlins (33-30). "I feel good," he said. "Thank God." Jones, who was charged with an error on the play, also was relieved that Alvarez was OK. He said he needed a couple pitches during his seventh-inning at-bat to refocus. "You never want to be the guy to make the mistake to lose a game," Jones said. "But that play, hes been our best pitcher, and to lose him on a play like that, it stinks." Luckily for Miami, it probably wont be without Alvarez for long. "We cant afford any injuries - especially to those pitchers. Weve already had that happen and we cant afford anybody else to get hurt," Redmond said. "Definitely concerned (when Alvarez left) but it looks like hes going to be fine so hopefully we got lucky there." NOTES: The Marlins have a couple off days coming up and the plan is to keep its rotation intact. That could change if RHP Nathan Eovaldis pregnant wife hasnt given birth by Wednesday. ... Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson gives his take on Burnleys 3-2 win against Crystal Palace at Turf Moor on Saturday. Chris Jones Super Bowl Jersey . An injury-time strike from striker Ashley Barnes sealed Burnleys victory. The home side had appeared to be cruising towards a comfortable victory when leading 2-0 at the break thanks to early goals from Sam Vokes, after just 78 seconds, and Johann Berg Gudmundsson. However, Palace boss Alan Pardews double substitution just before the hour-mark paid immediate dividends, with striker Connor Wickham reducing the deficit with his very first touch. When Christian Benteke converted an 81st-minute penalty, it appeared as though the spoils would be shared, only for Barnes to make a last-gasp intervention. As a result, Burnley have jumped up to ninth in the Premier League table following their fourth home win of the season, while Palace have slipped to 15th after picking up only one point from their last six league games.See what Phil Thompson had to say about the contest in the above video Also See: Barnes breaks Palace hearts Burnley 3-2 Palace recap Table Live on Sky Damien Williams Super Bowl Jersey . But now they hope to do it again Wednesday against Chicago -- one of the best teams in the NHL -- to show theyre on the right path. "Weve played one good game," coach Claude Noel said Tuesday. "We need to prove (to) ourselves that we can become more consistent and try to get ourselves to play another good 60 minutes." The Jets beat the Red Wings 4-2 on Monday night. Noel saw some good signs from his young team in the victory. "We wanted to control the neutral zone a little better against Detroit," he said. "We wanted to clog up the middle of the ice. I thought we managed to do that well. "I thought that our breakouts were good from our goal-line and I thought that we were able to get way better dumps and allow us to get on the forecheck." The result was a badly needed two points for the Jets (6-8-2), who have been stuck near the bottom of the Western Conference standings. It was also satisfying for their coach and fans to see a consistent effort. "We ended up with more shots, more offensive zone play ... its not really reinventing stuff," Noel said. "Its just executing the things we talked about before. We finally put all that stuff together. Thats something weve been looking for for some time now." Winnipeg was coming off a 5-1 loss to Chicago last Saturday. "We know that we played a good 20 miinutes against them," Jets forward Mark Scheifele said of the loss. Larry Johnson Super Bowl Jersey. "We had a good period, then we kind of got away from our game." Scheifele had two assists Monday night but also felt his defensive game was better against Detroit. That was music to Noels ears. "If he was happy with his defensive play, that would be good," said the coach. "To contribute you dont need to only contribute on the scoresheet. Its really how you play the game ... It has to be from a checking standpoint, because that is how eventually you win the game." Defensive play is something that the Jets have had trouble with in the past and injuries havent helped. They called up Zach Redmond this week from their St. Johns AHL farm team and grabbed Keaton Ellerby off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings to shore up their defence ranks. Ellerby barely had time to unpack before finding himself on the ice Monday night. "Ive only been here two days so Im still getting used to the names and faces but for the most part everybodys been very welcoming," he said after practice Tuesday. "From what I saw last night, its a fast physical team, move pucks quickly, get pucks to the net. I think that fits in well with my game." At six foot five and 221 pounds, he brings size as well as speed, although Monday night was his first game this season. The Jets also are uncertain whether Evander Kane will play in Chicago. He missed Monday nights game with an unspecified injury. ' ' '
