TORONTO -- She has successfully defended her Olympic gold medal and plans to compete in the 2018 Games, but Kaillie Humphries still has her sights set on achieving yet another goal in bobsleigh: having women take part in the four-man competition. WHOLESALE HOCKEY JERSEYS CHINA . Humphries said she plans to make a proposal this summer to her sports international governing body. The Calgary athlete hopes to help lead the charge by seeking to train and compete with men as the pilot of a four-person sled. "Women dont have four-man -- yet," Humphries said in an interview Friday, sporting her gold medals from the Vancouver and Sochi Olympics. "Were in a situation where women for a lot of years in our sport have always been told that were not as good a pilot, or were not as strong. And I think were at a point where women are proving now that we are just as good.... Were competing on the same level. And so its got to start somewhere. "Were still very much an all-boys club, and were still fairly new," she added, noting that women first competed in Olympic bobsleigh at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. "But at the same time, youve got the chicken and the egg. Youre not going to get more girls coming in unless you have more events. At the same time, theyre saying you cant have more events until you have more girls." Humphries said if women arent allowed to start competing in four-man bobsleigh, then maybe she can "join the guys." "Ill definitely have to have three men behind me in order to be competitive at all, but I feel like that could be a start and a step in a right direction towards encouraging women to come out to the sport, which will hopefully raise the profile a little bit more. And from there, we can hopefully get four-man started (for women)." The 28-year-old acknowledged that it will be an uphill climb, saying shell have to attend driving school and qualify "just like any other mens team would," adhering to both the Canadian system and international rules. "It will be a long process, it will be a hard one, one that I know Im going to get a few battles over and slack over for sure -- but one that Im willing to face. "I feel like Im a great person to at least get the ball rolling. Whether itll happen while Im still in sport, I dont know -- but its got to start somewhere." So could Humphries foreseeably see herself piloting both two-man and four-man sleds in the future? "I wouldnt go forward with it if I wasnt super passionate about it and didnt see it happening," she said. "Its just whether the federation and everybody else is ready for that to take flight yet. So thats what Ive got to do my best to convince people of." Humphries is still revelling in the golden glow of earning back-to-back Olympic titles with brakeman Heather Moyse of Summerside, P.E.I. The duo capped off their victory with yet another honour: being chosen as Canadas flag bearers for the closing ceremony. Humphries mom, Cheryl Simundson, was able to attend the Games as part of the "Thank You, Mom" program spearheaded by Procter & Gamble Co., which sponsors the bobsleigh champion. The program honours the role mothers play in helping children achieve their dreams. Simundson became emotional recalling the nail-biting two-minute wait to see Americans Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams complete their run following the Canadian team. In the end, Humphries and Moyse eked out a victory by a tenth of a second. "We knew that it was close. We knew that they had finished their fourth run and that it was possible, that it was up to Elana to take it or lose it," Simundson recalled, as her eyes began to fill with tears. "It was all about consistency. At that moment, we knew that they had done their best." Humphries admitted the pressures were greater heading into the Sochi Games, but said she couldnt approach the event any differently than other competitions. "I try and keep all my races as simple as possible," she said. "I push as hard as I can and I drive that track the very best that I can, and all my energy and focus goes into that. "If I think about it as the Olympics and your life is built up to this, four years is about this moment its too much." As has become customary, the heavily tattooed athlete plans to add new ink in commemoration of her Sochi victory just as she did after Vancouver. She plans to have a design of her newest medal tattooed with art from Sochi blended into one piece. Despite thriving under the intense spotlight of competition, Humphries admitted carrying Canadas flag with Moyse at the closing ceremony was fraught with a fresh set of jitters. While no one offered any guidance on how to carry the colours, she recalled a tip she received from British flag bearer Lizzy Yarnold that didnt quite work out as planned. "She said: I think you wave it like a figure eight. So I started doing that as I walked out, and I started hitting other peoples flags and I was like: This is an epic fail. OK, dont do that. Thanks, Lizzy," Humphries recalled, laughing. Still, the moment in Fisht Stadium was one to remember. "To know that we had our whole country behind us that just completely supported us and to hear it and to feel it from back home ... it was unbelievable." Humphries said while her biggest goal now is "just trying to live in the moment," her plan is to compete at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, with hopes of once again piloting to victory -- and the top of the podium. "Of course, if Im going in, Im going all in, 100 per cent. It will be sights set on another gold medal. "I cant do things halfway because I know its going to be that much harder. I mean, two is hard, but three, its really unbelievable, and again, never been done." NFL CHINA JERSEYS . -- Josh Smith made a 3-pointer as time expired and finished with 20 points to lift the Detroit Pistons to a 99-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night in both teams exhibition finale. SUPPLY CHEAP NFL JERSEYS .com) - Maria Sharapova rallied for a three- set win over Ana Ivanovic on Saturday to capture the season-opening Brisbane International tennis tournament.TORONTO - Garrett Billings scored six goals and added six assists as the Toronto Rock dominated the Philadelphia Wings 20-10 in National Lacrosse League action on Friday night. Organizers of the 2022 World Cup distanced themselves Tuesday from allegations of corruption involving two former high-ranking FIFA officials that raised new questions about Qatars winning bid for the tournament. Nike Vapormax Sale Outlet . The Daily Telegraph newspaper in Britain alleged Tuesday it has evidence that former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner of Trinidad and Tobago and his family were paid almost $2 million from a company controlled by Mohamed Bin Hammam, a Qatari who used to be an executive committee member of world footballs governing body. According to documents seen by the newspaper, a note from one of Warners companies, Jamad, to Bin Hammams firm, Kemco, requested $1.2 million for work carried out between 2005 and 2010. The note was dated Dec. 15, 2010, two weeks after Qatar was awarded the World Cup. The payment was made in 2011. Payments totalling $750,000 were paid to Warners sons and a further $400,000 to one of his employees, the Telegraph alleged. The transactions were processed via a bank in New York and have come to the attention of the FBI, which the newspaper alleged is investigating Warner and his links to the Qatar bid. Qatari organizers said Tuesday their bid "strictly adhered to FIFAs bidding regulations in compliance with their code of ethics." "The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and the individuals involved in the 2022 Bid Committee are unaware of any allegations surrounding business dealings between private individuals," the statement said. Warner said a "witch hunt" was being waged against Qatar. "I have no interest in joining in the foolishness that is now passing as news on Qatar and Jack Warner," he said in a statement to Britains Press Association. FIFA said it had no comment on the allegations. "In principle, any evidence of potential wrongdoing can be submitted to the investigatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee of FIFA for further investigation," it said in a statement. The latest allegations will bring fresh scrutiny on the 2010 vote, which currently is under investigation by FIFAs independent ethics prosecutor, and has put Warner and Bin Hammam -- two of the most controversial figures in FIFAs recent history -- back in the spotlight. Warner and Bin Hammam are no longer FIFA members. They were caught up in a corruption scandal surrounding Bin Hammams failed campaign for the FIFA presidency in 2011. Qatar defeated bids from the United States, Japan, South Korea and Australia to host the World Cup, allowing FIFA to take the 2022 tournament to a new country. The decision has been marred by persistent allegations that the voting process was flawed as well as concerns over the sweltering summer heat in the tiny Gulf nation, where temperatures can hit 120 degrees F (49 C). FIFA is expected to move the tournament from its traditional June-July period to the winter months, with the exact dates yet to be finalized. Concerns have also been raised about the working conditions, poor living standards and non-payment of wages for people helping to build the stadiums for the World Cup. As then-president of the CONCACAF regional body, which includes the U.S. Soccer Federation, Warner would have been expected to lead efforts within FIFAs ruling board to help the American bid win the 2022 contest. Qatar defeated the American bid 14-8 in the final round of secret balloting by 22 FIFA board members. Two of the then 24-man board were suspended after being implicated in a cash-for-votes sting by British newspaper The Sunday Times. Warner resigned from football duties, including his 28-year membership of FIFAs board, in June 2011 to avoid investigation in a bribery scandal linked to Bin Hammams campaign for FIFA president. The Qatari official launched his challenge against FIFA President Sepp Blatter three months after helping his country secure the World Cup. Bin Hammam withdrew his presidential candidacy just days before the vote after being suspended by FIFAs ethics committee. He was implicated in offering Caribbean football federations $40,000 each in cash at a May 2011 campaign meeting organized by Warner in Trinidad. The World Cup bid contests for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments are being investigated by Michael Garcia, a former U.S. Attorney who was appointed as FIFAs independent ethics prosecutor in July 2012. Garcia and his investigation team have been conducting interviews worldwide with officials from the 2018-2022 bid nations and FIFA executive committee members. Russia is to host the 2018 World Cup. Garcia is expected to submit a report later this year to FIFAs independent ethics judge, Joachim Eckert, who can recommend possible sanctions. Blatter has said the World Cup cannot be taken away from Qatar or Russia. Giuseppe Rossi continued his fine run of form since returning from two years of injuries, scoring from the penalty spot on the hour mark to take his tally to six goals in seven matches. Joaquin had been pulled back in the area by Juan Jesus. It was only the second goal Inter had conceded this season. Esteban Cambiasso levelled in acrobatic fashion in the 72nd minute and Jonathan scored what was to prove the winner seven minutes from time to cap an all-round performance from the Inter fullback. "We deserved to win, even though we suffered against a great team," Inter coach Walter Mazzarri said. "We should have done better with our counter attacks. If we had done so, we would have gone in at halftime in front. "We have to still improve even if the lads are doing an extraordinary job." Inter moved level with Juventus and Napoli, two points behind Roma. Fiorentina is three points further back after its first loss of the season. "The only thing I didnt like was the result," Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella said. "It was a great performance with character and just as we thought we had it under control, we conceded two odd goals. I have to take the defeat as well as the performance but we played at a high level against a strong opponent." Inter had been ordered to keep one end of San Siro -- the Curva Nord -- closed as punishment for fan racism during the draw against Juventus. Fiorentina was missing three key players as new signing Mario Gomez was injured, along with David Pizarro and Juan Cuadrado. Captain Manuel Pasqual added to the Tuscan sides injury problems as he was forced off with a thigh injury 10 minutes from halftime and was replaced by Marcos Alonso. Mazzarrri started with the same team which had won the past three matches, including a 7-0 victory at Sassuolo on Sunday. Air Jordan 13 For Sale Uk. And it almost took the lead inside the opening minute as Yuto Nagatomo forced a smart save out of Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto. It was an open match and Inter almost created another goalscoring opportunity in the 11th minute when Hugo Campagnaro put in a tempting cross from the right. But Fiorentina did well to clear and almost took the lead on the counter when the ball came to Giuseppe Rossi who beat a defender and put in an angled drive which Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic parried with a deft, one-handed save. The action was end-to-end and Inter again threatened moments later when it surged forward and outnumbered the Fiorentina defence five to two, but Saphir Taider fired into the sidenetting. Rossi has been in fantastic form this season and the U.S.-born forward was again at the heart of the action when he set up Joaquin for an effort which Handanovic did well to parry with his legs. The Italy striker fired Fiorentina in front with a powerful penalty which gave Handanovic no chance as, despite the goalkeeper guessing the right way, he could not prevent it from going into the bottom right corner. Inter levelled 12 minutes later as Fiorentina failed to deal with a corner. In the goalmouth scramble, the ball came to Cambiasso, who controlled it on his chest before scissor-kicking it in from close range. Fiorentina had lost its last 12 trips to Inter Milan, with its last victory coming in May, 2000. And it was to again come away from San Siro empty-handed as Jonathan smashed in a screamer under the bar after beating Matias Fernandez to a chipped pass from Ricky Alvarez. Massimo Ambrosini, who spent 18 years at Inters bitter city rival AC Milan, almost levelled in stoppage time but Handanovic got down smartly to smother the shot. ' ' '
PHOENIX -- Esmil Rogers needed a boost, so this outing came at a perfect time for the right-hander. Cheap Nike Vapormax Uk . Rogers pitched 6 1-3 innings of one-hit ball to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 4-1 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. "I just try to do everything I can to be here," he said. "Im going to get a couple of more opportunities to start and I have to get ready." Rogers (4-7) struck out five and walked one in one of his best games of the season. It was his first victory since June 18 against Colorado. The 28-year-old Rogers said the key was an effective two-seam fastball and sinker. He got 11 outs from 10 groundballs. "Ive been working on that, getting my confidence back. I got the opportunity to throw so many in the count, whenever I wanted," he said. "I was thinking about it like Be down in the zone and everybodys going to swing at it." Arizona hit into four double plays, including an inning-ending one in each of the last three frames. It managed just four hits while wasting the second complete game of the season for Brandon McCarthy (3-9), who threw 93 pitches in a five-hitter. Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-run shot in the ninth for the Blue Jays. It was his 35th on the season. Rogers and McCarthy locked up in an unlikely pitchers duel. Both entered with a 5.03 ERA and three victories apiece. Toronto jumped on McCarthy for two runs in the second, with the bottom of the lineup doing the damage. Kevin Pillar singled in Moses Sierra with two out and No. 8 hitter Anthony Gose followed with a triple off the wall in centre field. That was enough run support for Rogers, who retired 13 straight at one point. Arizona finally chased Rogers in the seventh. Tony Campana got on with a leadoff walk and stole second. Rogers then struck out Adam Eaton before he was replaced by Sergio Santos. Manager John Gibbons decided to pull Rogers though he had only allowed a hit and a walk while throwing 83 pitches. "Hes been vulnerable to a home run ball lately. He started scattering the ball a little bit," Gibbons said. "Hes been in and out of the rotation a little bit, so all that added up, even though it was just one hit. I know him pretty good, I think." Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson thought his team had chances against Rogers. "You saw how quickly Gibbons took him out. He wasnt throwing that well," Gibson said. "He threw a good game but when you have a guy going like that, you have to try and make an adjustment on him and we didnt do that." Santos walked Paul Goldschmidt to put runners on first and second, and then turned a double play when Eric Chavez grounded back to the mound. McCarthy retired 16 in a row before Ryan Goins reached on a leadoff single in the ninth. Encarnacion then drove the next pitch over the wall in left, making it 4-0 and giving him 101 RBIs on the year. "Hes dangerous," Gibbons said. "Eddies not just a slugger. Eddie goes up there with a plan. Hes really a student of hitting." The Diamondbacks rallied in the bottom half against Aaron Loup. Cliff Pennington reached on a leadoff double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Willie Bloomquists pinch-hit single. The Blue Jays then brought in closer Casey Janssen, who walked pinch hitter A.J. Pollock before retiring three in a row for his 27th save. He is tied with Kelvim Escobar for fifth on Torontos career saves list. NOTES: RHP Matt Langwell, the player that completed the Diamondbacks trade with Cleveland in which Arizona sent outfielder Jason Kubel to the Indians, reported to the team. Pennington, who played shortstop, had to go far to his left well behind second base to get to a grounder from Gose, and still managed to throw out Gose on a very close play at first base in the fifth inning. ... EDMONTON -- The CFL playoff picture is a lot clearer. Air Max 97 Clearance . Arland Bruce and S.J. Green each reeled in a pair of touchdown passes as the Montreal Alouettes pretty much eliminated Edmontons chances of catching them for a cross-over playoff spot through the East Division, crushing the Eskimos 47-24 on Saturday. It was the second consecutive win for the Alouettes, who improved to 6-8. "Any win is big for us this year," Bruce said. "Weve let a lot of wins get past us. We lost some games that we should have come out on top of. To get back-to-back wins is good for us. We cant stop here, though. We have to keep going and piling up the wins." Alouettes quarterback Josh Neiswander, who threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns, said it was good to essentially remove the Eskimos from their rear view mirror. "Its nice to have the breathing room," he said. "We knew that this was a big game for both teams. Winning certainly gives a bit of space but we still have a lot of work to do. "Any time you can get a win, whether against the first place team or the last place team, it is big for confidence. You can tell that in our locker room right now. Just getting a win of any kind was big for us." Edmonton (3-11) would need to win its remaining four games and to have Montreal lose its final four games to even have a shot at playing in the post-season. It was pretty obvious that even Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed considered that chance as tantamount to slim or none. "It was really disappointing," he said. "I apologize to our fans that we didnt give them the kind of season they deserved. Thats a personal apology. Its extremely disappointing that we have played this way today, again." The Eskimos failed to get on the scoreboard on their first drive when Hugh ONeill missed a 47-yard field goal attempt, and Montreal showed them how it was done. Brandon London started off a rapid drive with a 54-yard catch-and-run play, eventually setting up a diving six-yard catch in the end zone by Green on a pass from Neiswander to put the Alouettes up 7-0 five minutes in. Edmonton marched back into the Montreal zone, but again came away with no points as quarterback Mike Reilly was picked off by Jerald Brown at the Montreal nine-yard line. The Alouettes quickly took advantage as a 62-yard passing play to Bruce set up a 22-yard TD pass as Green caught a Neiswander pass, dropped the ball, but picked it up again before plunging across the goal line with three minutes remaining in the opening quarter. The Eskimos finally got on the board just before the end of the first quarter as a 45-yard one-handed catch by Adarius Bowman set up a 24-yard ONeill field goal to make it 14-3. It also broke a run of 47 unanswered points scored against the Eskimos heading back to their loss last week to Toronto. Montreal was full value for its third drive as well, as Trroy Smith capped off a competent march with a one-yard TD run. Air Max 97 Outlet. The Edmonton comedy of errors continued with just under five minutes to play in the second quarter as Chris Thompson picked off a Neiswander pass, only to then fumble it and see the Als come away with the ball at the Edmonton 33-yard line. It led to a 37-yard Sean Whyte field goal and a 24-3 lead for Montreal. The Alouettes padded their lead to 31-3 before the intermission as Mike Edem picked off Reilly and brought the ball back 38 yards to the Edmonton 12. That play set up a six-yard TD pass to Bruce. Edmonton gave the hook to Reilly in favour of backup Jonathan Crompton to start the second half. Reilly playing in the game at all was a controversial decision, as he was coming off a concussion in his last game against Toronto. A Montreal punt single was the lone scoring play in the third quarter. The Alouettes went up 39-3 early in the fourth quarter on a 21-yard pass to Bruce, who went up and fought the ball away from defender Eric Samuels. After another punt single by Montreal, Edmonton finally got into the end zone as Crompton hit Shamawd Chambers with a 31-yard touchdown pass to make it 40-10. Chambers caught his second touchdown pass of the game from six yards out with four and a half minutes remaining as the Eskimos had some late success with the game already out of reach. Edmonton continued to make the game look closer than it was as Joe Burnett intercepted a pass and took it back 56 yards, setting up a seven-yard TD pass to Fred Stamps with three minutes left. Montreal officially put the game away with a seven-yard TD run by Tyrell Sutton with a minute and a half left. The Eskimos head to Saskatchewan to face the Roughriders next Saturday. The Alouettes next game is at home against Winnipeg on Monday, Oct. 14. Notes: Edmonton leads the all-time regular season series with the Als dating back to 1961 by a count of 37-29-2. However, Montreal won the most recent game in July 32-27 and has now won eight straight over the Eskimosa Reilly was something of a surprise start, having been cleared to play after suffering a concussion last week. Reilly left the game against the visiting Toronto Argonauts in the second quarter last Saturday after taking a hit to the head from defensive lineman Cleyon Lainga Eskimos tailback Hugh Charles returned to the lineup after missing last weeks game with a hamstring injury... Former Eskimo turned Montreal running back Jerome Messam made his first appearance in Edmonton since being traded to the Alouettes. Messam has seen limited use by the pass-focused Als, entering the game with 92 carries for 429 yards and two touchdownsa As part of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame game ceremonies, the 2013 class of inductees was introduced at the half. PHILADELPHIA -- There is no secret to Bostons road success. Nike Air Max 270 Ireland . The Bruins play their system and play it well no matter where they play. Patrice Bergeron scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and also tallied in the shootout to help Boston to a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday. The Bruins have won nine straight road games, a single-season club record. "Just being smart, playing the system and not forcing plays," Bergeron said. "Every time we take whats there, we have success." Reilly Smith, the fifth Boston shooter, clinched the victory in the shootout for the Bruins, who ended March 15-1-1. "Thats pretty impressive," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Theyve stayed focused, theyve stayed humble, theyve stayed determined. Im very proud of the way weve handled this month." Vincent Lecavalier scored twice for the Flyers, including the game-tying goal with 25 seconds left in regulation. Lecavaliers first goal was the 400th of his career. "Ive always wanted to have a long career, but you dont come into the league saying, I want a certain amount of goals," Lecavalier said. "You come into the league saying, I want to win the Stanley Cup. I never even thought about 400. Now that it was today I was proud of it, but as a hockey player your goal is to win a Stanley Cup." Kimmo Timonen also scored for Philadelphia, which has lost three of four to remain in third place in the Metropolitan Division. "I thought our team competed real hard," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "They had an attitude today that they were going to show them something and I think they did. I know the outcome wasnt what we wanted, but we attacked and put a lot of pucks at the net." Andrej Meszaros and Zdeno Chara also scored, and Tuukka Rask made a career-high 49 saves for the Bruins. "They play their system to a T no matter what," Berube said. "They dont vary from it. Theyre a very competitive, heavy team." Bergeron scored to give Boston a 1-0 lead in the shootout and Claude Giroux, Philadelphias second shooter, tied it. But no other Flyers shooter scored. The Bruins last road setback came in overtime Feb. 26 at Buffalo, and they havent lost on the road in regulation since a Jan. 9 defeat at Los Angeles. Lecavalier scored his second goal with 25 seconds left. With goalie Steve Mason on the bench, Philadelphia pressed into the Boston zone. Johnny Boychuk had a chance to clear the zone, but the puck bounced over his stick on a backhand clearing attempt and went right to Jakub Voracek. Rask contested Voracek, who passed in front to a wide-open Lecavalier. It looked as if Boston had it won in regulation. Boston erased a one-goal deficit with a pair of second-period goals. Chara scored on the power play 5:44 into the period. Jarome Iginla set Chara up for the goal with a pass in front of the net, and Chara wheeled to his backhand and lifted it past Mason to the far side of the net. Bergeron continued his torrid pace with a goal in his seventh straight game, this one with 8:55 left in the period to give the Bruins a 3-2 advantage. Bergeron whirled around from the left circle and his turnaround shot slipped under Masons pads. The Flyers led 2-1 after an action-packed first period. Lecavalier opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game by beating Rask with a slap shot from the point that dipped under Rasks glove. Meszaros, who the Flyers traded to the Bruins at the trade deadline for a conditional third-round pick, tied it just over five minutes later when his wrist shot from the slot got past Mason on the stick side after Philadelphia had trouble clearing the zone. Philadelphias Zac Rinaldo raised the excitement level with a hard check on Iginla with just over four minutes left in the period and the players subsequently were penalized for fighting in a one-sided affair in favour of Rinaldo. Timonen gave Philadelphia a one-goal lead with 41.7 seconds left in the period by finishing an cross-ice, back-handed pass from Voracek. Notes: The Bruins won eight straight on the road during the 1971-72 and 1992-93 seasons. . Lecavalier became the 90th player to reach 400 goals. . The tear causes blood to flow between the layers of the blood vessel wall and can lead to aortic rupture or decreased blood flow to organs. The doctors told him it was inoperable.Officiating a football game was not on his mind.Whether he would live was.It was a scary time, he said.Once Vinovich got through the hanging-by-a-thread 48-hour window, he was told the survival rate for someone with a dissection that severe was about 2 per cent.He was lucky. They also told him he would never be allowed to officiate a game again. He was devastated.I started to cry, he said. But he wasnt going to let it stop him.A third-generation official — his father and grandfather worked football games for more than 30 years — calling games was in his blood and he was going to provee them wrong. Air Max 270 Cheap Online. .Once Vinovich got through the touch-and-go of the initial injury, he started working his way back in shape. The first couple of years, anything strenuous would wear him out. He also had a setback in 2011, when doctors had to repair an aneurysm in the ascending aorta in his heart. He kept pushing forward.I knew my body, I knew I could do it again, Vinovich said.He did.Vinovich started by officiating basketball games, something he had done in the past. He kept himself in shape despite the NFL, worried about the health risks, repeatedly telling him he could not come back.Vinovichs persistence paid off in May 2012, when he received an email from the league saying he had been approved for the 2012 season.I was almost stunned, he said. It brought tears to my eyes.Vinovich had a good enough first season back to work a divisional playoff game between Baltimore and Denver, and was the alternate referee for the Super Bowl. This season, he was the referee in the divisional playoff between Baltimore and New England, a game that included a bizarre formation in which the Patriots lined up a running back as an ineligible receiver.Vinovich managed that game well despite the controversy surrounding it, and his grade from the season was good enough to earn him the Super Bowl nod. There was a point where they werent sure Bill was even going to make it, and he was told that he would never officiate again, said Dean Blandino, the NFLs vice-president of officiating. He never gave up and hes standing here today, which is just a testament to his hard work and the human spirit.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

Pouncey talked to reporters Tuesday for the first time since the Ted Wells report implicated him, left guard Richie Incognito and right guard John Jerry as being behind alleged hazing and harassment of tackle Jonathan Martin. "No, not at all," Pouncey said when asked if he had any regrets. "Weve moved on from that. Im not worried about anything in 2013, honestly, its all about 2014 for me." On October 28, three days before the Dolphins played Cincinnati, Martin abruptly left the team after storming out of the cafeteria, and never returned. It wasnt until the Wells report was released that Pounceys name was directly attached. The NFL is waiting for him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before issuing any discipline. Pouncey said he does not need such an evaluation. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin stood behind Pouncey during his news conference after the practice. Philbin confirmed that he and the team will be in constant communication with the league regarding any discipline for Pouncey. "The one thing thats without question about Mike Pouncey which is important is he wants to be a great football player," said Philbin, who invited Pouncey to a dinner with free agent left tackle Branden Albert before the team signed him. "He wants to make a valuable contribution to the Miami Dolphins, and hes not unlike any other player that we have in terms of theres an educational process every player goes through. But I love the effort and energy that he brings and that hes put forth into this off-season and todays Day 1. Its a long, long process, but hes off to a good start." New offensive co-ordinator Bill Lazor also expressed confidence in Pounceys leadership. Pouncey didnt help matters last month after Miami drafted Tennessee right tackle JaWuan James in the first round when he tweeted he was looking forward to the gifts James would have to deliver to the veterans. The 2011 first-round pick insisted he was joking, reiterating that he believes he is the type of leader his teammates want him to be. Incognito, Jerry, Martin, Tyson Clabo and Bryant McKinnie all started alongside Pouncey on the offensive line at times last season. Now, only Pouncey remains. In addition to signing Albert and veteran guard Shelley Smith, the Dolphins drafted James and guard/tackle Billy Turner in the early rounds. All of them were aware of the issues that plagued that unit in 2013. Philbin knew that would have to be addressed. "We didnt really say an awful lot," he said. "We want them to make their own decisions. When they walk into the building, when they feel the energy, the excitement that the coaching staff has in working with these guys every day, when they see the way these players are treated by our equipment staff, by our security staff and by our medical staff, I dont really have to say a whole lot. "The people that come to work here every single day create an outstanding atmosphere ... and again I think the players feel that. If you have to talk about that, then you probably dont have one." KANSAS CITY, Mo. Air Jordan Retro 12 Wholesale . -- Wade Davis went from grieving to celebrating a victory. Davis came off the family emergency leave list and pitched six solid innings, Billy Butler homered and the Kansas City Royals beat the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Monday night. The Royals won for the 17th time in 20 games and moved past Cleveland and into second place in the AL Central, while the Marlins are 1-8 in their past nine. Davis had not pitched since Aug. 2, returning to Florida to be with his family after the death of his stepbrother on Aug. 3. "The organization has been great," Davis said. "Were like a family in here. Its good to have support." Davis could not put into words his emotions for taking the mound against the Marlins. "Honestly, I dont know," Davis said. "I just felt like I was out there, not really (more) emotional than that. It was good to get out and compete a little bit and get back with the team and help the team try to win." Davis (6-9) allowed two runs and six hits while striking out three and walking two. "I felt OK," he said. "I got a little tired towards the end with the layoff, but overall pretty good." Davis is 2-0 in his past three starts and won for the first time at Kauffman Stadium since April 10. "Wade threw the ball great," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He got us through six innings. He gave up two in the sixth. The worst pitch he made was to (Greg) Dobbs. He just kind of pulled a two-seamer that came back over the middle of the plate. I was real impressed the way he threw the ball." Marlins starter Tom Koehler (3-8) held the Royals hitless until two out in the fourth, when they pieced together four straight hits. Justin Maxwells triple scored Mike Moustakas, who had an infield single for the first hit. Chris Getzs single up the middle brought home Maxwell. "It just looked like he was pitching behind," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He had a tough time getting ahead. They didnt hit him hard but they made the most of their hits. "It seems like thats the way were going and were not scoring enough runs to cover up any mistakes. We dont have the offence to cover up any mistakes and right now were making too many mistakes." Getz, Alcides Escobar and Jarrod Dyson, the bottom third of the Royals order, combined for six hits, a walk, three runs, three stolen bases and three RBIs. Getz went 3 for 4 in his first game off the disabled list. Escobar, Dyson and David Lough stroked run-producing hits in a three-run sixth as the Royals snapped a 2-all tie. In the top of the inning, Logan Morrison and Dobbs punched RBI doubles off Davis. Butler homered to lead off the seventh against Ryan Webb to extend his hitting streak to six games. He is hitting .438 with six extra-base hits on the homestand. "I got into a good hitters count and didnt miss it," Butler said. "Ive been in hitters count before and didnt have those results. Its good to get one. "The first half was definitely a grind for me. I was kind of hit or miss. I was doing my same stuff, but wasnt getting the results. Ive been feeling good ever since the second half started. Im just taking confidence from each day and letting it build. Ive always been better in the second half throughout my career." The Marlins loaded the bases in the fourth and seventh innings, but failed to score. Adeiny Hechavarria grounded out to end the fourth, while Ed Lucas flied out to left to end the seventh. "Were just not getting that big hit," Lucas said. "Its been the story of the last few months. We had a pretty good pitching performance. We just couldnt get the hits when it counted. Weve got to do a better job with runners in scoring position, myself especially." Moustakas left in the fifth with a strained left calf and will be examined further Tuesday. Newly acquired Jamey Carroll hit for him and remained in to play third. Notes: LF Alex Gordon was not in the Royals lineup. His wife, Jamie, gave birth to a son, Sam Patrick. Gordon is not going on the paternity leave list and will likely play Tuesday. . Morrison, who was born in Kansas City and went to nearby Maple Woods Juco, played his first game at Kauffman Stadium. He said he left about 60 tickets for family and friends. .The Royals made four more roster moves Monday, bringing their total to 14 since Saturday. Haren found everything he wanted at Dodger Stadium. The right-hander agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal with the Dodgers on Monday, adding another veteran arm to Los Angeles deep rotation. The deal includes $3 million in performance bonuses and a $10 million vesting option for 2015. Haren was eager for a change after spending last season in Washington, where he went 10-14 with a 4.67 ERA even with a strong finish to the season. He missed his wife and children during his year on the East Coast, and the 11-year veteran seized the chance to return home after spending the previous three seasons with the Angels. "My kids are growing up, and to have the opportunity to come back so close to home and pitch for a championship-level club, it couldnt have happened any better for me," Haren said. The three-time All-Star went 33-27 with the Angels, enduring a rough final season. He also got off to a slow start with the Nationals, but Haren regained enough of his form to make him attractive on the limited free-agent market. Haren will compete for a prominent spot in Los Angeles loaded rotation alongside Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and injured veterans Chad Billingsley and Josh Beckett. "We were looking for somebody that we could lean on to provide us starts and innings, and obviously had a good track record," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said. "Hes also somebody from the area, so he understands the Dodgers and has respect for the organization and everything. ... Were more than willing to take a chance on somebody with his makeup, with his ability, with his experience, and with his track record." If Haren pitches 180 innings for the Dodgers, hell have a $10 million player option for 2015. He had pitched at least 180 innings in nine straight seasons before last year in Washington, where he finished with 169 2-3 innings pitched after a stint on the disabled list. Haren will get $250,000 each in performance bonuses if he makes 24, 27 and 30 starts, with a $500,000 bonus for 32 starts. If he reaches 180 innings in 2014 and is traded before the season ends, then there is a player option for 2015 at $11 million. "Could I have gotten more in other places? Maybe, probably," Haren said. "But the Dodgers seemed like a good fit for me, and at this point in my career, it looks like the Dodgers priority is winning now, and thats my priority too." The 33-year-old has 129 career victories. The Dodgers will be the sixth major league team for Haren, who also pitched for St. Louis, Oakland and Arizona. Haren knows hell be competing with Billingsley and Beckett for a rotation spot, and the Dodgers are eager to see how it develops. "Josh we expect to be ready when camp opens, and Chad at some point during the season," Colletti said. "Im not going to close the door to any more starters. We certainly like the four we have, and we hope we get Josh back and we hope we get Chad back." Haren isnt sure how the rotation will shake out, but hes confident hell have a spot if he performs to his usual capabilities. Hes also eager to suit up for the NL West champions, who lost to the Cardinals in the league championship series. "The talent is second to none," Haren said. "Weve got stars at every position." Haren pitched alongside Greinke in 2012 with the Angels, and theyve stayed in regular contact. Greinke welcomed Haren to the Dodgers earlier in the day -- and then hit him up for fantasy football advice. After he realized last winter that he wouldnt return to the Angels, Haren and his wife kept their home in Irvine, where he lives in the same gated community as Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire. Haren isnt suggesting a carpool with Big Mac, but hes thinking about buying an electric vehicle to ease the pain of a daily commute from Orange County to Dodger Stadium. He also plans to get tips on the drive from utilityman Skip Schumaker, who also lives in the coastal area thats home to dozens of athletes, including Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant. "Ill get used to it," Haren said. "Ill get satellite radio or something. ... Or maybe I could (get a ride on) Kobes plane. With his extension today, he could probably afford to give me a few rides."
