SPARTA, Ky. Air Max 97 Pull Tab Pack . -- Kentucky Speedway will apply another layer of asphalt to its racing surface this month for use by next NASCAR season. The 1.5-mile oval was resurfaced this summer, with a reconfigured layout, increased banking and improved drainage. But speedway general manager Mark Simendinger said in a statement Monday that portions of the paving did not meet specifications. He said the deficiencies did not influence this years racing and would affect only the long-term viability of the surface if left uncorrected.Kentucky will host a tripleheader weekend July 6-8 featuring all three NASCAR national series and headlined by the 400-mile Cup race. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- For a guy constantly described as calm and level-headed, Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs sure has a sense of drama. His 43-yard Hail Mary pass to Jauan Jennings on the final play of a 34-31 victory at Georgia last week was simply his latest stirring comeback. His poise has allowed No. 9 Tennessee to rally from double-digit deficits in four of its first five games. Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) is off to its fastest start since its 1998 national championship season heading into Saturdays game at No. 8 Texas A&M (5-0, 3-0).Hes a great leader, Tennessee guard Jack Jones said. (Dobbs) having that calm, cool, collected mentality, if we didnt have that, we might be in a different position right now.Dobbs credits his father, Robert Dobbs, with teaching him about composure.I remember back in middle school, I used to be pretty emotional, going with the highs and lows of the game, Dobbs said. As a quarterback, (my father) taught me and I personally feel like you have to be just calm, cool and collected. You cant get too high, too low. Each play has a life of its own, so you cant let past plays affect your future play. Thats when you get into trouble.Tennessee coach Butch Jones marvels at Dobbs ability to respond to harsh circumstances. He cracks that the only person who can rattle the quarterback is his mother, Stephanie Dobbs.Hes one of those individuals that if something negative happens, hes always thinking, `OK, this is the positive that can come out of it. These are the positive returns, Jones said. He doesnt let one bad play beat him. Hes able to have a snap-and-clear mentality, and to me that defines what mental toughness is.Dobbs statistics dont necessarily reflect his consistent approach. He has been much more effective later in games. In the first half of games this season, Dobbs has completed 52.7 percent of his passes for 404 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He averages 3.1 yards pper carry in the first half. Air Max 270 Blancas Negras. After halftime, Dobbs has completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 631 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has averaged 4.9 yards per carry in the second half and overtime. His second-half surges have sparked Tennessee. The Vols trailed 13-3 at halftime of a 20-13 overtime victory over Appalachian State and erased an early 14-0 deficit in a 45-24 triumph over Virginia Tech. In its two SEC games, Tennessee rallied from a 21-0 hole to beat Florida 38-28 and trailed 17-0 early against Georgia. This is a team that on paper, if you dont watch it, you say, `Well, theyve gotten lucky, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said. No, they havent gotten lucky. Theyve got a veteran quarterback that is No. 1 in this league for points responsible for. Lets start there.Whether hes throwing it, whether hes running it, whatever hes doing, hes the No. 1 guy thats creating points in this league. That gives you a chance, number one, to have those types of games and to win every game.Tennessee may not be able to afford a slow start this week. Texas A&M is a seven-point favorite Saturday, the first time this season the Volunteers have been underdogs. As much as hes enjoyed these frantic finishes, Dobbs would prefer the game to proceed otherwise. It gives you confidence, but it also raises the question of, `If you can do it when youre down 14 why cant you just do it from the beginning of the game? he said. It might change the whole outcome and complexion of the game. Thats what were trying to get across, and thats what were trying to understand. We need to come out stronger in the first half and not make uncharacteristic mistakes in the first half that put us in large deficits we have to fight out of.---Online: The APs college football page: http://collegfootball.ap.org Stitched Jerseys China NFL Jerseys White China NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Discount NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Hoodies Wholesale Authentic Jerseys ' ' '

Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer et al can now exhale. Cheap Nike Tns Uk . Nick Kyrgios says he has no burning desire to challenge for the top ranking.Becoming No. 1 doesnt really excite me at all, to be honest, Kyrgios told the Strait Times of Singapore recently, while picking up some easy money in a floundering International Professional Tennis League exhibition. Its not something I wish that I was. Whether I am 13 in the world, one in the world, 20 in the world, doesnt really bother me at all. Its just tennis. Its so small in the scheme of things. That might represent a breathtaking global vision, but its unlikely anyone with that attitude is getting anywhere near the summit of the game. Besides, while Kyrgios résumé is excellent, it isnt exactly mind-blowing. Hes earned three career titles thus far, all last year. But hes never won a Masters 1000 or been past the quarterfinals at a Grand Slam.Heaping scorn on Kyrgios, while tempting, is too easy. Any hopes that his talent and behavior will be channeled into the conventional conduits are fading.Kyrgios hasnt had a coach for two years. Thats outrageous.Kyrgios hasnt listened to anyone in at least as long, and thats just as alarming on a different front.Kyrgios roster of potential advisers includes avuncular figures whom he actually likes and respects, like Australian icon, Davis Cup coach and frequent practice partner?Lleyton Hewitt. But Kyrgios has grown jaded. I dont really care, to be honest, he said of all the advice lobbed his way. I got people telling me what I should do, how I should act, every day, and I dont really care. The game could really use an infusion of the youthful exuberance and charisma hes shown at the best of times, but right now, the only reliable talent Kyrgios has is for sparking controversy. It something the wildly talented, basketball-obsessed native of Canberra, Australia, has become expert at. Hes a mercurial, riveting showman; his penchant for stepping over the line is as powerful as his urge to hit for the lines. He charms fans, but he also curses and bickers with them and officials. He also seems to disregard the basic conventions of his profession.Kyrgios ugliest moment occurred in Montreal in the summer of 2015, when he dragged Stan Wawrinkas girlfriends name through the muck in a bout of on-court trash-talking caught on courtside microphones. His most pathetic demonstration? Kyrgios flagrantly tanked a match in the Shanghai Masters in October. It earned him an ATP suspension. That was just days after Kyrgios enjoyed the finest moment of his professional life -- winning the ATP 500 Japan Open.Is the proximity of the two events psychologically significant?Kyrgios also thumbed his nose at Davis Cup (a cardinal sin in Australia) and skipped the Olympics.Kyrgios isnt just a cut-up tweaking the establishment. He seems radically alienated. Imagine a guy whos spent his entire youth wanting to be a doctor, right through premed and residency. Then, just as his great talents as a surgeon become manifest, he decides he hates the medical profession. He gets a high-profile position at a great hospital and proceeds to tell anyone wholl listen that what he really and truly loves is ... lawyering (for Kyrgios, its basketball). How is this supposed to end well?Perhaps theres a rosier interpretation. Kyrgios met with a sports psychologist as part of his punishment for tanking. Perhaps this attitude about the top ranking is part of a coping mechanism intended to make his life happier, if not easier.Right now, it doesnt seem to be doing either. He said Tuesday thats a big reason why he is now the new coach of the Tennessee Titans. Whisenhunt said he hit it off quickly with Ruston Webster when interviewing for the job Friday night. With one team destined to be winless after the first two games of the 2013 CFL campaign, both the Edmonton Eskimos and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats try to prevent that from happening today when they get together at Guelph Alumni Stadium. You can watch the game live on TSN and TSN Mobile TV at 4:30pm et/1:30pm pt. Granted, there is a possibility that the teams could play to a tie this weekend, but that hasnt happened in a number of years now and shouldnt be much of a possibility given how wild the scoring opportunities were during the first week of the season. In fact, the 277 points scored in the four games during the first week, an average of just over 69 per game, made it the third- highest Week 1 scoring effort in league history. The Ticats played a major role in the scoring outburst, putting up 34 points against Toronto on the road, but even that was not enough to upset the defending Grey Cup Champions in their own building. Hamilton ended up suffering the five-point loss mainly because the offense went to sleep in the second half, scoring a grand total of just three points. The leagues leading passer from a year ago, Henry Burris, who was coming off a campaign in which he completed close to 65 percent of his passes for 5,367 yards and 43 touchdowns, tried to pick up where he left off by hitting 24- of-37 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns, but it simply wasnt enough to keep the team from falling into the loss column. But you cant fault the signal-caller for his efforts because, with only seconds to play down the stretch he nearly pulled off a remarkable win. Burris initially thought his desperation pass at the end of regulation was completed for what could have been the game-winning touchdown, but clearly the ball bounced off the turf and into the hands of Andy Fantuz. Despite not coming up with the critical reception, Fantuz still had a standout performance with 10 catches for 155 yards and a score.  Unfortunately for the Ticats, Fantuz was placed on the one-game injured list. Hamilton kick returner Lindsey Lamar was named the special teams player of the week in the CFL after posting 224 yards -- including a 104-yard TD return -- on six kickoffs along with four punt returns for 18 yards. Lammars scoring run came just minutes into the first quarter, part of a 21-point eruption by the Ticats in the frame. Cheap 2018 Nike Air Max Plus TN Ultra Red Black. Hamilton was one of three teams to go without a turnover in the first week of play, the others being Toronto and Saskatchewan. However, what made the Ticats stand out is that they bucked the trend that says clubs that are error-free should come out on top more than 88 percent of the time since 1996. As mentioned earlier, the first week of action in the CFL was heavily offensive by nature, but the one team that didnt follow suit was Edmonton. Had it not been for a 12-point burst in the final 15 minutes, the Eskimos would have been left with single digits for the contest. Edmonton, which is trying to find a worthy and deserving starting quarterback, put Mike Reilly in the cross hairs in the first week and the result was less than favorable. Reilly finished the meeting against Saskatchewan, a 39-18 defeat, 17-of-35 for 259 yards and a score, but he was also picked off three times and suffered three sacks. The Eskimos brought in second-stringer Jonathan Crompton, a product of Tennessee, and he responded by going 6-of-11 for 70 yards. Edmonton scored just a single major, a 19-yard pass to Fred Stamps. Kicker Grant Shaw did all he could for the club by hitting three of his four field goal attempts. The Esks managed to generate 417 yards of total offense but turnovers, as well as 15 penalties for a loss of 90 yards, didnt help matters. On a positive note for Edmonton, JC Sherritt came out and showed that his record-setting performance from last season was no fluke as he tallied a game- high seven stops and registered a sack in the losing cause. Sherritt, who logged a record 130 defensive tackles a year ago, is now 16th on the teams all-time tackles list with 206 stops. Dating back to 1950 and taking into account only games that have been played during the regular season, Edmonton owns a 53-29-1 advantage over the Ticats. The Eskimos won the most recent meeting last Oct. 5 by a final of 35-20 at home, which means the club has now taken three of the last four and five of the last seven matchups overall. The squads will face off against each other in Edmonton on Aug. 2. The Phoenix Coyotes and pending free agent goaltender appear to be making progress on a new contract. Seattle Seahawks Michael Dickson Jersey . According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the two sides are closing in on a six-year deal that would see the 31-year-old netminder make around $5.7 million per season. In 34 games last season, Smith posted a 15-12-5 record with a 2.58 goals against average. Its been a busy off-season for the Coyotes who locked up head coach Dave Tippett to a five-year deal earlier in the month. Numbers Game looks into the Canadiens securing the services of Thomas Vanek in a trade with the New York Islanders. The Canadiens Get: LW Thomas Vanek and a conditional fifth-round pick. CHICAGO -- This is the genius of Joe Maddon:Next week, all four of his infielders will start for the National League at the All-Star Game, a trick no team has turned since the 1963 St. Louis Cardinals. Yet when those Cubs return to Wrigley Field next Friday to face the Pirates, two of them -- Kris Bryant and Ben Zobrist -- could wind up starting in the outfield. They might not be the only ones playing a different position. If you want to know what separates Chicago from the handful of other title contenders at midseason, versatility is a good place to start. And that starts with Maddon.Ive always been about that, he said recently.Maddon has never been shy about testing his players skill sets, either, because hes always challenging himself. He could write a book about turning the tables on decades of received baseball wisdom and whats hes learned along the way. But on this day he limits himself to a list of benefits a manager gets having guys who can play multiple positions: reacting to in-game changes is easier; you can carry an extra pitcher if you need to; more flexibility in scheduling rest days; and it keeps everyone on their toes. But he saves the best argument for the end of his pitch. Its the same one Maddon employs to stick a toe outside his own comfort zone, and how hes talked a few dozen grown men into donning pajamas for charter flights home from West Coast road trips. And the last point, he summed up, is they love it.Most of the time, anyway.A week earlier, in a 15-inning marathon at Cincinnati, Maddon used three pitchers in the field in the same game for the first time in a century or more. Reliever Pedro Strop, the third pitcher to enter, was in the Cubs bullpen that inning when the phone rang, but he knew better than to assume anything. You never know with Joe, he said. The guys not afraid do anything. ... So I was almost kind of ready for that, because I was the only extra player we got.But the other one? Man, he continued. I was like, `Whoa. That was a year ago, just ahead of the midsummer break with the Dodgers in town. The Cubs were already struggling with a manpower shortage in that same infield.Bryant, the third baseman, was wilting in the heat of his first big-league season and Maddon was trying to give him a day off. That plan fell through when shortstop Starlin Castro -- since traded to the Yankees -- headed off to the hospital for the birth of his second baby. It also forced Maddon to move Addison Russell from second to short and pencil in his only other healthy infielder, reserve Johnny Herrera, at second.Thats when Strop noticed the manager eyeing him.Joe comes over and says to me, `So, what position can you play better? he recalled. Seattle Seahawks Jamarco Jones Jersey. trop has been a pitcher since he broke into the majors in 2009, but hed played more than 200 games at shortstop in the Rockies minor league system before a weak bat convinced him to try throwing off a mound. The prospect of a cameo back at shortstop both tantalized and terrified him -- exactly the response Maddon was looking for.But then Starlin drove back from the hospital, Strop recalled, chuckling at the memory. No matter. Point made.Maddon came by the philosophy while working on his managerial chops as an assistant in the Angels organization and then as the boss in Tampa Bay. In both organizations, he saw talented ballplayers capable of contributing stuck in place because the guy in front of them had the position locked down. Maddons first convert to make a splash was Zobrist in Tampa Bay, who eventually mastered four positions, joined him in Chicago this season and will play second base in the All-Star Game.Bryant, who will start at third, has played three different positions in the same regular-season game. Russell, who didnt become a full-time shortstop until after the midseason break in 2015, will start there in the All-Star Game. And Maddon has already convinced rookie Willson Contreras, who was drafted as a catcher, to try left field and first base during his first month in the majors.A few lockers down, Albert Almora Jr., another highly touted rookie, wondered whether hed get the talk. Hes played center field since being called up June 7 from the Triple-A Iowa club, and hasnt received any further instructions from Maddon.I watch him when Im not playing and it seems like hes three, four moves ahead of the game, Almora said. So hes not afraid to try things, even with the rookies. Just about the first thing he said is he doesnt care if you mess up. ...Like if youre in a situation where you think you should bunt, and he says hit and it doesnt work out, hell come up to you right away and say, `Thats on me, he added. He doesnt just say have fun, he shows you how. That means a lot to a young player.Another few lockers over, 39-year-old David Ross, a backup catcher playing his final season, offers the last word on his smooth-talking, sometimes-zany manager.Too many guys want to equate smarts with being uptight, Ross said. Joe doesnt. He just says, `Do simple better.---This story has been corrected to show the 1963 St. Louis Cardinals had four starting infielders at All-Star Game. What is #CFBrank? #CFBrank is the Twitter hashtag to use if you want to get involved in the discussion or just follow along. Cheap Seahawks Jerseys .How did we rank the players? We asked 32 of ESPNs college football writers, editors and analysts to rate players on a scale of 0-10 based on their expected contributions for the 2016 season.100-91 | 90-81 |?80-71 |?70-61 | 60-51 |50-41 | 40-31 |30-21 | 20-11 | 10-1Jalen Tabor Florida Gators Junior | Cornerback Score: 8.45Despite the attention All-American Vernon Hargreaves III received last season, there are some around Floridas program who thought Tabor was better and much more consistent all year. Tabor snatched four interceptions in 2015, with two going back for touchdowns, and tied for first in the SEC with 18 passes defended.Jourdan Lewis Michigan Wolverines Senior | Cornerback Score: 8.46The senior cornerback might have been a first-round draft pick this spring after setting a school record for pass break-ups (22). Instead, hes back for an encore and his ability to blanket receivers in coverage could be the key to making Michigans blitz-happy defensive scheme work.Jamal Adams LSU Tigers Junior | Safety Score: 8.52Yet another LSU underclassman whose potential has turned pro scouts heads, Adams looks like a future first-round pick as he enters his junior season. Adams led the Tigers with four interceptions and 10 pass breakups last season, and will once again be a centerpiece of one of the nations top secondaries.Raekwon McMillan Ohio State Buckeyes Junior | Linebacker Score: 8.53The Buckeyes already viewed McMillan as the prototype at middle linebacker as far back as his recruitment. Last season, he started living up to that billing in his first full-time spot in that role, piling up tackles, becoming a vocal leader and laying the foundation to go down as the latest in a long line of stud linebackers from Ohio State.Derwin James Florida State Seminoles Sophomore | Defensive Back Score: 8.66As a true sophomore, James has established himself as one of the countrys elite players. Labeling him simply as a safety is unfair considering his star quality at cornerback, linebacker and even rush defensive end, too. The five-star talent is expected to leave Florida State as one of its best defensive backs ever.Jonathan Allen Alabama Crimson Tide Senior | Defensive End Score: 8.76Talk about your ideal 3-4 defensive end. Allens 6-foot-3, 294-pound frame is perfect for stopping the run. But his quickness, which resulted in three sacks of Mississippi States Dak Prescott last season, is underrated. A potential first-round pick last season, Allen returned to spearhead a D-line that could be even better at sacking the quarterback this year.Calvin Ridley Alabama Crimson Tide Sophomore | Wide Receiver Score: 8.83And we all thought Alabama would miss Amari Cooper and his Heisman-caliber numbers in 2014. Little did we know that a clone of Cooper -- nearly identical in size, speed and style -- was waiting in the wings. Ridley, who grew up in the same area of South Florida, was an instant-impact freshman last season, breaking the 1,000-yard receiving mark.JuJu Smith-Schuster USC Trojans Junior | Wide Receiver Score: 8.86Hes built in the prototypical matchup nightmare size: At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Smith-Schuster has proven to be a physical terror for small cornerbacks -- his stiff-arm prowess fills many highlight reels. But Smith-Schuster is also a fast and smooth route runner, and that turned into 89 catches, 1,454 yards, and 10 touchdowns last year.J.T. Barrett Ohio State Buckeyes Junior | Quarterback Score: 8.87His sophomore season might not have gone entirely as planned, but by the end of it, the dual-threat weapon was once again firmly in control of Ohio States vaunted attack and piling up touchdowns. Healthy and freed from a quarterback battle, hes poised for another record-breaking campaign.Nick Chubb Georgia Bulldogs Junior | Running Back Score: 8.90Despite suffering a horrific knee injury in the middle of last season, Chubbs rehab is reportedly way ahead of schedule. In two seasons, Chubb has rushed for 2,294 yards and 21 touchdowns. Chubbs 9.5 yards per carry outside of the tackles in 2015 was the second most in the Power 5.100-91 | 90-81 |?80-71 |?70-61 | 60-51 |50-41 | 40-31 |30-21 | 20-11 | 10-1Voters: Andrea Adelson, Edward Aschoff, Brian Bennett, Kyle Bonagura, David Ching, Heather Dinich, Matt Fortuna, Kevin Gemmell, David Hale, Travis Haney, Brock Huard, Chantel Jennings, Sharon Katz, Sam Khan Jr., David Lombardi, Chris Low, Tom Luginbill, Ivan Maisel, Ryan McGee, Erik McKinney, Ted Miller, Dan Murphy, Max Olson, Greg Ostendorf, Adam Rittenberg, Alex Scarborough, Jared Shanker, Mitch Sherman, Phil Steele, Jake Trotter, Tom VanHaaren, Austin Ward Elite Seahawks Jerseys . GLENDALE, Ariz. Air Max 98 OG UK Homme: Blanche/Or . -- George Gosbee and Anthony LeBlanc fulfilled every Canadian boys dream last week by becoming NHL owners. But before they had even completed the deal to buy the Phoenix Coyotes from the league, Gosbee, LeBlanc and their partners were already in the crosshairs. The issue was the five-year out clause they put in an arena lease agreement with the city of Glendale. On one hand, they understood the consternation; Coyotes fans had gone through an emotional roller coaster in four years of waiting for an owner. What bothered the members of IceArizona was that they had no intention of moving the team. That would mean they had lost $50 million in their new venture and had failed, something none of them have had much experience with. "Its frustrating for me because for this exit clause to kick in, we have to lose $50 million and thats not something I want to do," Gosbee said. "We came into this to build a successful organization in Phoenix and thats our plan. We have no plans of relocating anywhere else and we have no plans to lose $50 million, I can tell you that." For LeBlanc, buying the Coyotes completed an arduous quest that lasted more than four years. He started his career as a salesman for a regional cellphone company in New Brunswick and later joined Research in Motion just as it was developing the Blackberry. LeBlanc worked his way up through the ranks in eight years with the company, becoming a marketing executive before leaving in 2008 to pursue his dream of owning a hockey team. He started Ice Edge Holdings with a goal of bringing a major junior or minor league team to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where his family moved when he was 10. After former Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes took the team into bankruptcy in 2009, LeBlanc shifted his focus toward the Valley of the Sun. His initial effort, with partner Daryl Jones, fell through, as did a minority ownership with Chicago businessman Matthew Hulsizer. LeBlanc also was working with former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison in his attempt to buy the team. When Jamisons bid fell through in January, LeBlanc decided to take one more crack at buying the Coyotes. This time, he and Jones brought in Gosbee, a Calgary businessman whose specialty was completing complicated financial transactions. "If George didnt get involved, we wouldnt have bought this team, its as simple as that," LeBlanc said. Gosbee grew up in Alberta and, like LeBlanc, spent his Saturday nights watching Hockey Night in Canada and loved playing shinny games with kids in the neighbourhood. His two sons are also accomplished hockey players; John plays for a Junior A team in Port Alberni, British Columbia, and Carter at a high-performance school in Calgary. Gosbee made his mark professionally in energy investment banking, handling mergers and acquisitions for numerous companies. Once he became a part of the group trying to buy the Coyotes, Gosbee put his background to perfect use, bringing in what had been lacking in previous deals: investors with hard cash to spend. Gosbees ability to close the deal earned him the moniker the Great Gosbee and helped him offset the devastation of having his Calgary home flooded out in June. "We had a good partnership and were able to put all the missing pieces together," said Gosbee, who is now looking to buy homes in Calgary and Phoenix. "I thought if I was able to deliver the last piece to it, I was comfortable with it (being called the deal saviour), but there was a lot of legwork done before I got there." Though theyve only known each other since Gosbee came on board in February, the two have become fast friends. Gosbee and LeBlanc have the common bond of being Canadians who love hockey and have reached the upper echelons of their fields of expertise. Theyre also different in ways that complement each other: LeBlanc the gregarious salesman, Gosbee the calculating businessman. "I would say it was the perfect partnership," said Gosbee, the teams new governor. "Were similar in some aspects. Hes got some strengths Ill never get near to and I think I have some strengths where he doesnt have the experience with, so its a great combination." The task ahead for Gosbee and LeBlanc is making the Coyotes a successful venture in a market that has, at times, been nonchalant in its support for hockey. When the team is winning, the fans will latch onto the bandwagon, as they did when the Coyotes went to the Western Conference finals two years ago. Gosbee and LeBlanc gave general manager Don Maloney more financial leeway in this years free-agent period -- he was able to lure top-line forward Mike Ribeiro to the desert -- and plan to give him a bigger bankroll in the years to come. While being run by the NHL, the Coyotes had limited marketing options, so now the new owners have started aggressively marketing the team to increase suite and season-ticket sales, along with corporate sponsorships. With a competitive team, better marketing and a firm ownership group in place, Gosbee and LeBlanc believe hockey can be successful in the Valley. "We have a really strong hockey side of the business," said LeBlanc, who is working on getting his immigration status cleared before buying a home in Arizona. "Im not going to sit here and guarantee were going to go to the playoffs or win the Stanley Cup, but I will guarantee this is a franchise that is going to play hard and be competitive every night. You have that and strong ownership, those two things are the litmus test you need." Now that they own the team, its time for Gosbee and LeBlanc to see if they can pass the test and make the out clause a moot point. Saina, he says, can start her rehabilitation work within the next three weeks and he is confident that she can be back playing on the international circuit by November.Saina underwent surgery after returning from the Rio Olympics, where she lost in the group stage. It was later learnt that she was carrying an injury into the Games. The muscles get considerably weak after you undergo a procedure like this, Kumar explained. Your quadriceps, hamstring, calf area, all need to be strengthened. Nothing is wrong with her other tendons, ligaments, ACL, it is just the cracked bone. How you take this disappointment in your stride, that is the key. She is a tough girl, she can always come back. But yes, the disappointment will be there of what happened at the Olympics. In hindsight, though, an MRI in Bangalore before the Games would probably have revealed the extent of the injury then and very likely have ruled her out of the Games.Kumar also spoke of the events leading to Sainas premature departure from the Games. She first complained of slight discomfort and pain in the knee a couple of days before their scheduled departure for Rio.?Medical experts in Bangalore, where Saina was training, said what she was experiencing was likely to be a fat pad inflammation, a condition brought upon by the strain athletes who engage in high intensity workouts undergo. She was told not to worry and, with that assurance, Saina boarded the flight for Rio.At her first workout in Rio, where she arrived on August 8, Saina continued to experience slight pain, Kumar says, but nothing too worrisome. The pain started to increase when she played her first match against local girl Lohaynny Vicente on August 11. Saina won but was visiblly distressed, her 21-17, 21-17 win coming in nearly 40 minutes. Air Max 97 Ultra 17 Rouge. A specialist doctor who was consulted prescribed a pain-killing injection. The medical advice Saina and her team received was that the injection would take a few days to take full effect. Her next match was against Maria Ultina of Ukraine, a player ranked outside the world top 60. Saina, who needed to win this match to make the pre-quarterfinals, calculated that a win here would give the injection time to take full effect and would help her for the later matches. Ultina beat Sania, however, and knocked her out of the Games.During the match she started to experience an unbearable amount of pain, Kumar says. She couldnt even walk immediately after the match.Saina flew out of Rio that night itself and an MRI on arrival in India revealed that shed chipped a bone in her knee. The surgeon who conducted the procedure in Mumbai, Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, in fact said that he was amazed that Saina had managed to get through two matches despite such a severe injury. Kumar though wasnt surprised at Sainas insistence to simply grind her teeth, bear the pain and play on.The timing of Sainas injury was extremely unfortunate, especially as she had recovered from an ankle problem last year to return to the circuit in March. By winning her last tournament, the Australian Open in July, Saina had signalled that she would be among the major contenders for a podium finish at Rio - more so because defending Olympic champion Li Xuerui, who Saina was drawn to take on in the quarterfinals, was also struggling with an injury.Instead, Saina has now slipped four spots to number nine in the latest rankings and will inevitably drop out of the top-10 in the weeks ahead. MIAMI -- Mario Chalmers phone has been ringing for the last few weeks, the calls coming from teams curious about how his recovery is progressing. Nike Epic React Flyknit Comprar .Hes about to have a concrete answer.Chalmers is on target to be cleared for full basketball activity this week, eight months after rupturing his right Achilles tendon. He thinks he could be on an NBA floor again by early December.Right now, I can pretty much do everything, Chalmers said. Ive been on the court the last two, three months just working on getting back. Im back to sprinting, running and jumping.Hes always been supremely confident in his game. That hasnt changed.Never will, either, Chalmers said. The 30-year-old was a starter on Miamis title teams in 2012 and 2013 -- among active players, only Tony Parker has also been a starting point guard on multiple championship squads. Miami went to the NBA Finals in four straight seasons when Chalmers was with Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh, but the 2014 title series still causes Chalmers some angst. My last performance in the Finals, thats the one thing I do want to change if I ever get the opportunity again, Chalmers said. Thats the one thing that really sticks out in my mind.So hell look to sign with a title contender.Chalmers knows itll be a prove-yourself deal for the rest of this season, and that hell almost certainly be asked to serve in a backup role. Hes fine with that, saying a chance is all he needs right now.Ive been to four Finals, Chalmers said. Theres a lot I can share. And whatever nervousness I have coming back, its all going to be gone as soon as that first shot goes in.---HARDENS STREAKJames Harden is having a November to remember. In six games so far this month, the Houston guard is averaging 30.3 points, 14.2 assists and 8.5 rebounds. Hes got triple-doubles in his last two games, something only Elvin Hayes has done in Rockets history. And according to the Elias Sports Bureau, Harden is the first NBA player with at least 24 points and 12 assists in six straight games.Houston plays Philadelphia on Monday. Last season in two games against the 76ers, Harden averaged 39.5 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.---VIDEO OFFNBA teams have the option this season of reviewing video in real-time on their benches during games. It doesnt seem to be widely utilized yet.San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich says he has no interest, and Sacramento coach Dave Joerger is among the many still wondering what the best way is to add real-time access to their in-game routines. Teams have been able to use video on the bench for the past few seasons, provided it was uploaded first. This real-time option, the NBA said, was in the interest of streamlining.I havent wanted to do it just to do it, Utah coach Quin Snyder said. I want it to be productive. The Jazz load their players up with tons of film around games. If a player wants more, Snyder will accommodate. If one guy wants to do it, Id be ready to do it tomorrow, Snyder said.---THE WEEK AHEADSome games to note this week:Orlando at Indiana, Monday: Magic coach Frank Vogel gets to reunite with his former club, one that has sputtered early.Toronto at Cleveland, Tuesday: The Cavs held DeMar DeRozan to 32 points on Oct. 28, his second-lowest output this season.Houston at Oklahoma City, Wednesday: James Harden vs. Russell Westbrook. You dont need any more reason to watch.San Antonio at L.A. Lakers, Friday: The Lakers have wins over the Hawks, Warriors and Rockets. Heres another proving ground.Golden State at Milwaukee, Saturday: The Warriors went to Milwaukee 24-0 last season, and left 24-1. Guessing they remember.---STAT OF THE WEEKStephen Curry, Golden State: During his NBA-record spree of 3-pointers last Monday, he missed as many shots from inside the paint (four) as he did from beyond the arc. Curry finished with 46 points, shooting 13 of 17 from beyond the arc. Nike Air Force 270 Baratas . Meanwhile, there were huge victories for Sunderland and West Ham over fellow relegation rivals, leaving the battle to avoid the drop up for grabs with the bottom 11 teams separated by just six points. LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. Nike Shox Nz Australia . -- Dermott Brereton hadnt seen anything like the United States Australian Football League nationals tournament, where 40 footy club teams and more than 1,200 players from across the U.S. and Canada converged this past weekend to contest mens and womens championships in six divisions.Brereton, an Australian Football League commentator and former Hawthorn star, is on a surfing holiday in the United States with former teammate Chris Wittman, and the tandem made sure to visit Americas annual festival of Australian rules football during their stay.Im loving it -- absolutely loving it, Brereton said while surveying two games at once. The camaraderie has been wonderful, and you can tell the Americans get a kick out of having a competitive environment like this. While Brereton spoke, Wittman intently shot video of a womens match with his iPhone, impressed by the athleticism and skill. It was a full plate of footy. To see five ovals with [simultaneous] games, you just dont see this in Australia, Wittman said. To see the quality of play and also the womens football is incredible. We just started playing womens football in Australia, and theyre already playing it here!In a way, Australian football has come full circle in America with Brereton and Wittman here to see the progress. After all, they were members of the Hawthorn team that faced the Essendon Bombers in the first pro match ever held in the States -- a 1989 postseason exhibition at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami. For the uninitiated, Australian rules football is contested with 18 players per side on a large oval. It contains elements of rugby and Gaelic football, but also includes aerial play. Teams score by kicking the ball through sets of uprights at the ends of the field. For a more detailed rules overview, click here. The USAFL requires at least nine American players on the field for each team in nationals competition. On the pitch, the Austin Crows captured their second consecutive Division I mens national championship and third in the past four years with a 39-13 win over the Golden Gate Roos. The game was contested in gusty conditions, with almost all the points scored with the wind. The Crows dictated the tempo, took control early, and did enough to disrupt the Roos progress while heading into the wind in the second half.Nolan Cox, older brother of Collingwood Magpies big man Mason Cox, kicked three goals in the final for Austin, which capped an undefeated season. Nolan preceded Mason as a college basketball player at Oklahoma State and took up footy only a couple of years ago after Mason began pursuing an AFL career. It just so happens that Nolan lives in Austin, and he wound up catching on with the Crows.I was just looking for some guys to have a kick, so I looked it up online, Cox said. The experience is awesome, and its very competitive. In case youre wondering, Nolan isnt quite as tall as Mason -- 198 centimeters to 211 (6-foot-6 to 6-11) -- but perhaps the question still should be asked. Does Nolan have interest in trying out for the AFL?Well, he said with a smile, Im 29.On the womens side, the San Francisco Iron Maidens also battled the wind to earn a hard-fought 9-6 win over the six-time defending champion Denver Bulldogs to capture their first Division I national title. For Jess Estrada, it was a chance to see years of hard work come to fruition. Estrada has been playing footy since 2009 and was co-founder of the Iron Maidens when they began play three years later as a sister team to the Roos. To her, the difficult part isnt staying dedicated to training or absorbing physical punishment in games; its all the time spent on organization, administration and everything else that goes into maintaining a club off the field.I dont think you understand how big this is for us, Estrada said. We started in 2012 and put so many hours into this. It takes so much to build a team, and we just beat the six-time champions. It blows my mind.U.S. womens national team captain Hallie Adrian initially balked at the idea of playing Aussie football eight years ago. She had played college basketball at Texas State and wasnt interested in an outdoor game or a kicking sport. But when she moved to Denver, an acquaintance convinced her that footy would be a good way to make friends in a new town. Turns out she liked hitting people, developed a passion for the game, and became an integral member of those six Bulldogs championship teams.I think I was meant to play a tackle sport, Adrian said. I think a lot of us are adrenaline junkies. Afterward, you feel [the bumps and bruises], but during the game, my mind is on nothing but footy.Eight womens teams participated at this years national tournament, and approximately 250 female players across the country are affiliated with USAFL clubs. Its a modest number -- but a far cry from 2010, when Estrada and a few teammates had to fly to San Diego just to put together a 5-on-5 game. Its absolutely insane, Estrada said. Now we have two divisions. We have commentators. I can watch myself on [the web stream]. It means so much that this sport really supports womens growth.U.S. womens national team coach Leigh Barnes said American clubs that rely too heavily on Australians arent able to have staying power. They might thrive for a while, but it isnt an effective model for sustained success. In order to win consistently at the USAFLs top levels, he said clubs need to be able to continually recruit and develop local players. Barnes speaks from experience, as he helped found the Golden Gate AFL in 2001. Today, the GGAFL boasts five mens and three womens teams and sends the Iron Maidens and Roos to the nationals each year.Youre only as good as your weakest American, Barnes said. If you rely too much on Australians, the quality of your team suffers.Former Sydney Swans and Fitzroy Lions player John Ironmonger has been involved with footy in America for nearly two decades, and in 1998 he attended the second USAFL nationals in Cincinnati. Although there were only eight teams, he said the event was a great weekend of football for an Aussie who was homesick. He recalls having difficulty at first recruiting Americans to the Roos and the GGAFL. It seemed that when Ironmonger tried to describe the sport, potential recruits imagined something along the lines of American football played without safety equipment -- with players recklessly flying all over the place and initiating hits with their heads. Perhaps the thought of combating the 200-centimeter, 118-kilogram Ironmonger (thats 6-foot-7, 260 pounds here in the States) struck some fear as well.At first, it was really hard to get Americans to show up, because they would hear tackle with no pads, said Ironmonger, now an assistant coach for the U.S. womens national team. But if you could get them to show up, you usually had them hooked. One of the people who has worked hard to hook Americans on footy is Perth businessman Tony Fairhead, a longtime member of a USAFL advisory board that includes AFL notables Paul Roos, Peter Schwab and Wayne Jackson. Fairhead helped institute a player exchange program between Australia and the U.S. a decade ago. Aussie players come to the U.S. to teach the game, and Americans go to Australia to learn it. The goal isnt just to teach rules and strategy, but also how to build and maintain a football club in a nation whose sports structure revolves instead around college and high school sports. Its goodwill, Fairhead said. We also try to develop the players as club men and coaches. Thats the model they have to learn in order to be self-sufficient.Meantime, the USAFL is already looking ahead to 2017, and San Diego has been announced as next years tournament host. The national teams are focusing on the 2017 International Cup, a tournament held every three years in Melbourne and contested by approximately 20 national teams -- not including Australia.Next year will mark the third time women have competed at the International Cup. The U.S. women have placed third in each of the previous events, and Canada is the defending champion. The mens tournament began in 2002, and the defending champion is Papua New Guinea. The best American finish was third in 2005 -- something U.S. mens coach Tom Ellis expects to improve this time around.Im quietly confident we can go to Australia, make a run at the title, make some noise, and open some eyes to how good the game is here, Ellis said. Nike Shox Shoes For Sale . The 29-year-old Baines has established himself as one of the top attacking full backs in the country and was the subject of two bids from United during the last off-season. NEW YORK -- So much for the New York Mets lining up Noah Syndergaard for the National League wild-card game on Oct. 5.Syndergaards scheduled start on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies has been shelved because the ace is suffering from strep throat.Left-hander Sean Gilmartin instead will make a spot start for the Mets.Manager Terry Collins said the hope is that Syndergaard can return Monday or Tuesday in Miami and not miss a full rotation turn. That would allow Syndergaard to still make two more regular-season starts. However, Syndergaard no longer would be lined up for the wild-card game. With the Mets, San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals all bunched within a game in the standings, Collins noted the Mets may no longer have the luxury of lining up a pitcher for the wild-card game.Right now, in our situation, we cant worry about Oct. 5, Collins said.Collins added that the Mets could skip Bartolo Colon or Syndergaard the final weekend of the regular season at Philadelphia and use one of those pitchers in the wild-card game if the Mets are fortunate to clinch early. The Mets originally had eyed Syndergaard pitching on Saturday and Sept. 30 and then in the wild-card game and Colon pitching the regular-season finale and then Games 1 and 5 of an NLDS.Although not overly serious, Syndergaards brief unavailability is the latest blow to a ddepleted rotation. Cheap Nike Shox Online. The Mets had hoped left-hander Steven Matz would pitch on Friday for the first time since Aug. 14. But Matz experienced renewed shoulder discomfort after throwing a bullpen session Wednesday and was scratched. Rookie Gabriel Ynoa will plug the rotation void for Matz.Meanwhile, right-hander Jacob deGrom underwent season-ending surgery Wednesday to relocate the ulnar nerve in his pitching elbow. Matt Harvey underwent season-ending surgery in July to remove a rib and alleviate thoracic outlet syndrome, and Zack Wheeler has been shut down until next season because of complications in his rehab from Tommy John surgery. The Mets already are relying on rookies Seth Lugo and Robert Gsellman in the rotation. Both likely would start games should the Mets reach a division series against the Chicago Cubs.Gilmartin will become the 12th starting pitcher used by the Mets this season. He has thrown no more than 18 pitches in any appearance since rejoining the Mets in late August from Triple-A Las Vegas, so his ability to pitch deep into a game will be an issue. As long as Im out there and throwing pitches that are getting people out, I think Im able to go out as long as they need me to go, Gilmartin said. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzkys slap shot was always precise and straight as an arrow. Yeezy Powerphase Calabasas . Give archery an assist for that. The Great Ones aluminum stick, with a wood and fiberglass blade, was constructed in part using innovations derived from bow and arrow technology. So were the shafts on many a golf driver, the bike frame used by an Ironman triathlete, the drumsticks used by rockers. Cutting-edge advances in archery have even influenced the plastic components on dental chairs. Its all because researchers discovered: Getting an arrow to fly with accuracy is anything but straightforward.Ultimately, if you can make a really good set of arrows, everything else is comparatively easy, said George Tekmitchov, target archery manager and senior engineer for Easton Technical Products, a leading bow and arrow manufacturer with a special claim to fame: An Easton arrow has been used to capture every gold medal in the mens and womens individual Olympic event since archerys return to the modern games in 1972.Long before the arrival of Katniss Everdeen -- the arrow-brandishing heroine in The Hunger Games played by Jennifer Lawrence -- arrows were typically made from Port Orford cedar wood. Making an accurate set of those was complex and costly.See, every imperfection in an arrow gets magnified over a long distance. Take the archery competition at the Olympics this week: An arrow will travel about 200 feet per second, and if the stiffness is off by even a ten-thousandth of an inch, it can cause the arrow to deviate by as much as two rings on the target at 70 meters. That can be the difference between going for gold or going home.We have really high demands for our equipment, because small imperfections make huge differences, said Zach Garrett, who helped the Americans to an Olympic silver medal in the mens team competition on Saturday. It does take a material scientist to work through these things.Researchers constantly have to think straight, in other words, and Easton has been among those at the forefront of innovation. As the story goes, the companys founder, Doug Easton, was duck hunting one fall day in 1921 when he leaned his shotgun against a car. It fell over and discharged; he was struck in the legs. As he recovered in the hospital, Easton devoured a book by Saxton Pope called Hunting with the Bow and Arrow. It hit the mark.Eastons interest in archery shaped the direction of his company, which has taken arrow technology from wood to aluminum alloy to carbon fiber. One of the biggest breakthroughs was the process of bonding carbon to aluminum, which allows arrows to be strengthened through the aluminum core and stiffened by the presence of carbon fiber. This became revolutionary for other sports, too.Easton innovation expert Gary Filice designed an even more proficient hockey stick -- just what the NHL wanted in the hands of Gretzky, who was already virtually unstoppable. The bike frame of Ironman triathlete Paula Newby-Fraser went from aluminum to carbon fiber as she captured numerous world titles. Golf drivers have been made out of similar material, allowing everyone from the pros to the weekend player to crush the ball farther. The bonded-carbon process was also applied inside of aluminum bats and engineered in such a way that when under pressure from contact, the bat can give a higher rebound. Slugger Darryl Strawberry tested different models for Easton, which built a robot to mimic Strawberrys swing. This particular package of specialized carbon bonding also improved windsurfing booms, tennis rackets, lacrosse sticks and even led to aluminum drumsticks like the ones used by rock icon Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, according to Tekmitchov.Space technology developed by Easton found its way into archery, as well. Remember a project from the early 1990s called the National Aero-Space Plane, a spaceliner with an ultimate goal of shuttling passengers from New York to Tokyo in 90 minutes? The project was scrapped, but it led to a breakthrough in arrows. Easton developed hydrogen-fueled tubing for the project, and it went into the companys X10 arrow line. The model features an ultra-thin profile for minimal wind drift, and will be used by most of the archers in Rio.A German plastics company was an innovator in the field of micro-plastic engineering for years before dabbling in archery in the 1980s. Its founder, Werner Beiter, was a big supporter of the sport and made small plastic accessories like the nocking point, which provides an accurate connection between the arrow and the string.Research into archery equipment affected other products, too, including the part of the dental chair that attaches to cables containing the air for the drills. As for the bow, it certainly doesnt take a backseat to the arrow in technological progression. The dawn of a carbon-fiber limb helped American Darrell Pace capture gold at the 1976 Olympics and again in `84. Its still the industry standard -- with a few modern tweaks, of course. The next wave of bows went to a whole new depth: submarine technology. A bow manufacturer called Hoyt, owned by Easton since the 1980s, developed a new core for bow limbs using syntactic foam. Originally designed so submarine control surfaces could be kept hollow without being crushed by sea pressure, the foam makes bows limbs lighter and much stronger. Were always looking for ways to make something better, said Eastons Tekmitchov. If someone goes, `Hmm, maybe that would work for this? Well try it. NMD CS2 Primeknit . Pirlo limped out of Sundays 1-0 win over Udinese after just 13 minutes. JACKSON, Miss. Nike Off White Presto For Sale . -- Kevin Streelman wasnt the only one who took advantage of nearly ideal conditions at Jackson County Club. The 37-year-old did it a little better than everyone else, though, finishing with a 9-under 63 for a two-shot lead after the first round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.Streelman made 10 birdies Thursday, including eight in an 11-hole stretch. With more good weather forecast for the next three days, he said the low scores will have to keep coming if he wants to have a shot at winning the tournament. When you get PGA Tour players on great greens with great conditions and theres a fair amount of wedges in our hands on this golf course -- theyre going to make some birdies, Streelman said.Trey Mullinax, Seamus Power and Carl Pettersson all shot 65 to sit two shots behind Streelman. Seven others -- including Lucas Glover and Camilo Villegas -- were among those three shots back.Defending champion Peter Malnati shot a 71. Of the 132 players, 100 shot even par or better.Streelman is a two-time PGA Tour winner, with his last victory in 2014 at the Travelers Championship. He missed the cut two weeks ago in the season-opening Safeway Open.Streelman said he wasnt planning on playing at Sanderson Farms until his poor performance in California. Its been a good decision so far: The 9-under 63 is his career-low score in relation to par. He shot an 8-under 62 at the Travelers in 2008.It was pretty flawless ball-striking to be honest, Streelman said. Hit a lot of fairways.Mullinax -- a rookie making his fifth career PGA Tour start -- was among the others who took advantage of the forgiving course to post a low score. The 24-year-old finished tied for 22nd at the Safeway Open two weeks ago and continued to play well in Jackson. The goal this week was to give myself the best chance to win, and today was a good start, Mullinax said. We have three days left. The 29-year-old Power is making just his second start on the PGA Tour. He finished 15th at the Olympics while playing for Ireland over the summer and said the experience helped give him confidence. The biggest thing to remember is Im not going to win the tournament at 7 under, Power said. The Clippers were angry about blowing a big lead; the Kings didnt like being in that kind of hole and nearly digging themselves out only to lose. GOA, India -- Asian soccer leaders rebelled against FIFA on Tuesday, calling off their extraordinary congress and postponing the election of three representatives to the new FIFA Council. The Asian Football Confederation said the congress lasted only 27 minutes after member countries voted 42-1 against the agenda. The decision comes two days after FIFA barred a Qatari candidate from running for a spot on the council. The congress in Goa had been called to elect three officials to join existing AFC members from Japan, Kuwait and Malaysia, as well as President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain, on the 37-member FIFA Council. The congress has spoken with one voice and that has been clear for us all to see, Sheikh Salman said. FIFA President Gianni Infantino, I am not sure if you have been at a shorter congress but I think you can see the strength of opinion in the room.Only Singapore voted in favor of the agenda. The countrys candidate, Zainudin Nordin, was set to benefit from his Qatari opponent being excluded. The increase of the FIFA Council to 37 members, chaired by Infantino, was a key part of reforms at the scandal-hit world body and was approved on the same day in February that the former UEFA secretary general beat Sheikh Salman for the presidency.Today the AFC and Asian football has shown solidarity, Sheikh Salman said. The message has been clear to everyone both inside and outside Asia. The AFC later held an emergency executive committee meeting, where Chinese candidate Zhang Jian was added to the committee until the next extraordinary congress. Dates and a venue for the rescheduled election will have to be ratified by FIFA.FIFA ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert earlier this month opened a case against Qatar Football Association vice president Saoud Al-Mohannadi, who was one of four men seeking one of the new seats from Asia on world soccers ruling council.FIFA prosecutors asked Eckert to ban Al-Mohannadi for no less than two years and six months for not telling the truth and nott cooperating properly with an ethics investigation. Nike Off White The Ten 2018. But Al-Mohannadi said at the time he was confident of a fair review and that he had cooperated candidly. The case does not involve Qatars 2022 World Cup bid, but no further details were provided by the FIFA ethics committee.FIFA announced Sunday it had barred Al-Mohannadi from running in the election based on an ethics committee report, leaving Zhang, the Chinese soccer association secretary general, running against Ali Kafashian of Iran and Nordin of Singapore for two of the three FIFA Council seats from Asia. The third seat from Asia has been reserved for female candidates, with Moya Dodd of Australia running against Han Un Gyong of North Korea and Mafuza Akhter of Bangladesh. The AFC president, who ran for the top job in soccer against Infantino in the wake of the scandals that rocked FIFA last year, said stalling the election wasnt designed to delay any reform agenda. There is no argument between us and FIFA, Sheikh Salman said. I think we will be the first supporters of the FIFAs reforms ... but we need to be fair and just as well.It is unclear what the effect of Tuesdays turmoil will have on an Oct. 13-14 meeting of the FIFA Council in Zurich with Asia now below its quota of delegates. The session was set to look in detail at the 2026 World Cup, with the United States and Canada among potential hosts. Infantino made an election campaign promise to add eight teams to create a 40-team tournament. The issue of when Asia could next host a World Cup is also up for debate with China eager to bid as soon as possible. A current FIFA rule that bars confederations from back-to-back hosting means China can next be a candidate for 2030.However, FIFA could also propose a two-tournament gap for confederations -- knocking European bidders out of the 2026 contest but also pushing back Chinas ambitions to at least 2034. As much as the delivery it is the exclamation - a kind of song actually - it prompts from the wicketkeeper that is worth replaying. Nike Air Force 1 Low Danmark . It is such an unmistakably subcontinental reaction, audible in any number of scenes - among a group of men after a lewd joke, or, more deplorably, when a beautiful woman passes by. At a mushaira [poetry recital] or a mehfil [small gathering], you may have noticed, a clever couplet brings this on: this, Ai hai hai hai. Umer Sharif, the great Pakistani comedian, was a master enabler of such moments. Occasionally if it is just too good, one might feel the urge to punctuate it with a Maar da laa [That killed me].Sarfraz Ahmed did not so append, and why would he? His Ai hai hai hai to that delivery from Yasir Shah was enough. Words might be the worst way to capture the mastery of that delivery over its victim: this explains it sufficiently. Years earlier, Ashraf Ali expressed a popular variant, a softer, more lyrical but abrupt Aa haa to an Abdul Qadir googly that castled Kim Hughes (if youre in a rush, watch from around 4:00 but this is Qadir googly heaven, so youd be a fool not to watch it all). The bonus - and locator of surrounds - in this instance is Richie Benauds excitement on the mic (Beautiful Bosie!) but Ashraf could easily have been an appreciator of some form of subcontinent art: a dance performance, a poetry recital, a music concert, a filmi dialogue.Moin Khan was an occasional champion of it, as he still is in gatherings of adult men, amid childish jokes. But as with Sarfraz and Kamran Akmal, the loud cackle was his go-to reaction to a batsmans misfortune. Moin once started laughing two-thirds of the way through appealing for lbw off a Mushtaq Ahmed googly to HD Ackerman. It helps to have the voice of Moin and Sarfraz, squashed down but trembling forever on the brink of a screech. It isnt necessary, though.Rashid Latif was an oddity among Pakistani wicketkeepers in many ways, one of which was that he possessed a deeper voice. He was not as vocal either, but even he couldnt help pulling out a slightly stretched aah ha, when Mushtaq once bowled Dermot Reeve with a googly, or a droll ai hai when Mushy did likewise to a UAE batsman (in the same video, soon after the Reeve dismissal). The more refined response alerts us not only that the ball is good but that the entire dismissal is to be processed as a piece of high culture.MS Dhoni has the voice and bearing for it, though nobody should be surprised that he has elevated his version to a tool of proactivity. He uses it as a kind of spook tactic, for deliveries that do not take wickets but might do something special. What they do is plant doubt inside a batsman, or at least the hint that a collaborative mischief of personnel and the elements is upon him. In that way, as Dhoni must have worked out years ago, it is as good as a sledge. In the event of a wicket falling, it is a send-off, a withering one without a word even being uttered. Ai hai hai, maar da la - batsman, keeper, everyone, figuratively, literally.****Cricket does not easily forget a big-turning legbreak, such as the one Yasir bowled to Imrul Kayes. Perhaps it is because we understand the impossibilities of what is being done. It is the only occasion in life, for instance, other than when a ring is being put on it (or it is used to pick a guitar string) that our third finger from the thumb comes to some labour. The wrist must unfurl in synchronicity. And already the shoulder is going through a highly unnatural contortion, with incredible strain put upon it. Subsequently there is the pivot on the foot to consider, as well as the driving of the hips through the process of release. These are just the bare biomechanical considerations, but already requiring a rare combination of strength and dexterity. Then come the specific skills. The seam has to be positioned right; there must be enough revs imparted on the ball to first make it drift, then grip and then turn, but not do any of it too much or too little; the release has to come just right, otherwise the ball lands too short or too full, or comes out too flat, or too loopy. We might think then that the chances of a confluence as magnificent as that delivery of Yasirs - a perfect storm of anatomical gifts and acquired craft, of nature and nurture - lie somewhere between Leicester City winning the Premiership and the force of the Big Bang being just right to produce a cosmos. Or something. It is almost irrelevant that he gets the wicket at the end of it, let alone that it is a castling. Would it have been worthier to beat a defensive stroke, such as the one Mike Gatting bemusedly offered Shane Warne, or to bypass an attempt to pad away the ball? Maybe, because to beat a man when he is determined not to be beaten - as opposed to when he is determined to win - appears the harder feat. But to lull a batsman into attacking and then get him is also a triumph in the battle of personality, just in a different way to how Warne conducted it. And just for fun, try in your head to superimpose the sound of a Moin or Sarfraz to a Warne wicket: ecstasy.Something of the sheer wonder of legspin has necessarily dimmed over time. When Qadir was legspinning, it was the easiest thing in the world to shroud him and his craft in mystery. There was no video or internet, no coaches or analysts or biomechanists breaking his action down. He could bowl one googly six times but Chinese whisper it into meaning he was bowling six different ones, and nobody was in a position to dispute it. Growing a goatee was a legitimate bowling tactic then. By the second half of Warnes career, he would have had to work harder to make the batsmen in his era think something was happening when it wasnt, because batsmen were better equipped to know what was and wasnt happening. It was Warnes genius that he could still do it, even as the game and his own pre-eminence within it made it harder for him to do so. Yasir may as well be bowling naked, there is so little to hide in this age.Maybe not all the wonder has gone, though. It is still the genre of bowling most given to producing oohs and aahs and ai hai hais. Warne probably didnt see the ball Yasir bowled but such is the brotherhood, wherever he was, in his head, maybe in his sleep, he must have felt it and appreciated it: ai hai hai.****The legspinner and his wicketkeeper: this summer in England, Yasir and Sarfraz must forge a partnership. It is not a partnership as we understand others to be, between opening bowlers or batting pairs. These are two lonely occupations, one man often only noticed for his mistakes, the other usually the only representative of his kind in a bowling attack. And legspinners do not breed easily, so each one carries the flame for a species, not just for himself or his side.Unique within team dynamics, the wicketkeeper must treat the leggie as an opponent, to be conquered. He must learn to read him as a batsman does, but from the hand, because unlike the batsman, the wicketkeepers line of sight is directly obstructed. The wicketkeeper strives to understand what the leggie is doing better than anyone on his side, and that, perhaps, is why he responds as Sarfraz did in that dismissal. That exclamation is part of the bond that he knows and appreciates better than anyone just what the leggie has done.It is not an obviously prolific partnership. Unlike the prominence of a fast bowler and his wicketkeeper, or the more celebrated associations of spinners and slip catchers, this relationship demands less exclusivity to each other. Take a sample of modern leggies (Qadir, Mushtaq, Warne, Anil Kumble, Stuart MacGill and Danish Kaneria), and youll find that on average, 15% of their Test wickets were either caught or stumped by a wicketkeeper; for some, like Kaneria, the proportion is nearly a fifth, for others, like Kumble, it is less than a tenth. On average, they do not even combine for one dismissal per Test - from this sample, Kaneria-Kamran Akmal came closest, with 39 dismissals in 43 Tests together. That last stat is a statutory warning to not burden these numbers with excessive meaning. Kaneria-Akmal began well but the dysfunction that grew between them from 2006 was central to dysfunctional sides. Kaneria never said so publicly at the time, but each time he came on to bowl, he did so with zilch faith in Akmals ability. Instead, when they are operating together there must be no misunderstanding, no gripes or masked frustrations. Communication is vital, even if it is just to ask whats for dinner tonight before the last ball of the day. A good, working combination becomes a useful index of the health of a side.Sarfrazs work to spin, and to Yasir, has not always been assertive; that they have combined for just one catch in 12 Tests is not simply the by-product of how these pairings operate but the result of several missed chances. Conditions in England for the uninitiated wicketkeeper, as Akmal discovered a decade ago, can be so unique as to derail a career. Not many chances will come in the first place, so the price of Sarfraz not holding on to the few that do will be steeper. There is some promise, not least among seven stumpings. The one to get rid of Dimuth Karunaratne last year in Galle, off a ball that turned a mile, emerged from within the tangle of an attempted shot and was rising another couple when Sarfraz took it, was a peach. This was not as swift or smooth as Ian Healys celebrated stumping of Graham Thorpe in Perth once - to a Warne delivery that he took shoulder high. That was unreal. But Sarfraz did finish this at least, with function if not form. A couple against England last year similarly offset an inherent clunkiness with the alertness to get the job done.Given how their leggie and wicketkeeper have gone on the last two tours of England, Pakistan wont care much how it is done, as long as it is. American guard Rotnei Clarke shrugged off a surprise benching to spark the Illawarra Hawks to Sundays crushing 109-78 victory over the New Zealand Breakers at WIN Entertainment Centre. The NBLs MVP in 2014, Clarke had one of his best games of the season, scoring a game-high 22 points off the bench in his teams fifth win.Illawarra had six players in double figures as they avenged Friday nights 15-point loss to the Breakers in Auckland. The Hawks overcame a nervous start and the loss of star import Marvelle Harris (ankle) after four minutes to be up 26-20 at quarter-time, with live-wire guard Mitch Norton scoring eight points.Clarke had four points before pouring in 11 in the second quarter, as Illawarra surged to a 56-44 halftime lead. The Hawks showed no signs of slowing down in the second half, sharing the workload at both ends of the court and stretching the margin to 19 at three-quarter time.Illawarra were never threatened down the stretch and boosted their win-loss record to 5-6.The Breakers are onn the road against the Cairns Taipans next Sunday, while Illawarra have a Sunday away game against injury-plagued titleholders Perth.
